Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 128: Unexpected Calls

Ch. 128 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Ezra's P.O.V

When she was finally ready to sleep and call it a night, I watched as Zoya slipped under the covers, her eyes heavy with exhaustion, and I went to lie next to her. I pulled the blanket up to her chin, making sure she's warm and comfortable.

“I need to finish up on some work in my study.” I spoke softly, my concern evident in my voice. "Are you sure you'll be okay?"

She nodded, a small smile on her lips. "I'll be fine, Ezra. Go on, don’t let me stop you. Goodnight."

I leaned down and pressed a tender kiss on her forehead. "Good night, my love," I murmured. "Just rest now. I'll be right in the next room if you need anything."

I stayed in the room just long enough to watch her fall asleep. The soft moonlight filtering through the window cast a gentle glow over her features, accentuating her beauty in the most serene way.

Her breaths gradually slowed, and I could feel her body relaxing against mine, indicating that sleep was finally taking over.

A contented sigh escaped my lips at the sight of her sleeping so peacefully. Seeing her safe and calm brought a sense of tranquility to my heart, knowing that she was safe and right beside me.

Zoya had become an irreplaceable part of my life, and the thought of losing her sent a shiver down my spine.

With a sense of contentment, I pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead, whispering, "I love you, Zoya," knowing she couldn't hear me but hoping that somehow, she could feel the depth of my emotions.

My heart swelled with love and protectiveness as I looked at her.

I can't believe how lucky I am to have her in my life, to be able to call her mine.

Zoya has brought so much light and joy into my world, and I'll do everything in my power to make sure she's always safe and happy.

Once I was satisfied that she was in deep and comfortable sleep, I slowly extricated myself from her arms. She stirred slightly, but didn't wake. I kept my movements gentle and soothing, not wanting to disturb her peaceful slumber.

It took me a couple minutes to free myself from her embrace without waking her. After that, I quietly slipped into my office, closing the door behind me.

The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of the desk lamp casting a warm aura over the space. I debated on keeping the door open, in case Zoya woke up suddenly and couldn’t find me, but I debated against it. Since I didn’t want the noises from this room to disturb her either, in case Gustav or anyone else decided to call me.

As I left the comfort and sanctuary of our bedroom, my mind also crossed over to the serious side as it was filled with thoughts of Silas and his unpredictable intentions.

I need to figure out what he's planning and how to prevent any further escalation.

I took a seat at my desk and started sifting through the scattered papers and patrol reports, searching for any clues or patterns that might indicate Silas's motives.

It's crucial to stay one step ahead of him, especially when the safety of my pack was at stake.

Lost in my thoughts, I contemplated the best course of action.

A direct confrontation might be the best way to understand his intentions, but it also carried the risk of provoking him further. I had to think of the pack he was currently residing in as well. Because his wolves had families too, and their lives mattered just as much as my own.

I sighed, feeling the weight of my responsibilities as Alpha resting heavily on my shoulders.

Just as I was deep in thought, my phone started to ring with an unfamiliar number flashing on the screen.

I hesitated for a moment before answering. It could be a trap or a distraction, but I needed to be prepared for anything.

"Hello?" I answered cautiously.

"Ezra," the voice on the other end spoke. "It's Anika." It's Silas's current Luna, the woman who was with him at the wedding.

I was surprised to hear from her, considering the tension between our packs.

"What do you want, Luna Anika?" I replied, my tone guarded, but at the same time, giving her the respect she deserved.

"I need to talk to you," she said, her voice sounding uncertain. “Alpha Ezra.”

I leaned back in my chair, keeping my emotions in check, making sure my voice was level so I don't give away anything.

Right off the bat, Anika had seemed fiercely loyal to her pack, and so going by that logic, it was unusual for her to reach out to me like this.

Nevertheless, I'm willing to hear what she has to say.

"Go on," I prompted.

Anika took a deep breath before continuing, "Silas is angry, and he's not thinking clearly. I'm worried that he might do something reckless that could endanger both our packs."

I raised an eyebrow, surprised by her admission. "And what do you suggest I do about it?"

"I know you two have a history," she admitted, "and I also know that you care about Zoya. I'm asking you to find a way to talk to him, to reason with him. Maybe you can find a solution that avoids any bloodshed."

I was taken aback by her words, unsure if I could trust her intentions.

"Why the sudden change of heart?" I asked, unable to hide my skepticism. "Your Alpha is the one who declared the war in the first place."

Anika took a deep breath before responding, "Silas may be our Alpha now, but this pack has always been mine, Alpha Ezra. I care about our people, and I don't want to see innocent lives lost because of this conflict."

Her words struck a chord with me, reminding me of my own responsibilities as an Alpha.

I knew that if a war broke out, it would be the innocent pack members who would suffer the most. And despite our differences, I couldn't let that happen.

"I understand," I said, my tone softer now. "We need to find a way to stop this war before it's too late."

Anika seemed relieved to hear my agreement, and I suggested that she bring Silas to town the next day so we could talk face-to-face.

Only by talking directly could we hope to find a resolution.

"I'll talk to him," Anika promised. "I'll bring him to town tomorrow."

With that, we ended the call, and I was left to contemplate the upcoming meeting.

I knew that negotiating with Silas wouldn't be easy, but I was willing to try for the sake of our packs and our packmates.

And hoped that my brother would come to his senses…once and for all.
