Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 129: A Confrontation of Wills Part 1

Ch. 129 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Silas’s P.O.V

The next day, I made my way to the restaurant as Anika had instructed. According to her, I had an appointment with the Alpha of the small pack who wanted to join our fight against Ezra.

It was a boon sent by the Moon Goddess. If our people weren’t as skilled as my old pack, then we could at least outnumber them and lead our packs to victory.

The restaurant was a quaint, cozy place tucked away on a quiet street in town. As I entered, the rich aroma of deliciously cooked meals greeted me, instantly stimulating my appetite.

Soft, warm lights hung from the ceiling, casting a gentle glow over the rustic wooden tables and plush leather booths. The walls were adorned with old photographs of the town's history, giving the place a sense of nostalgia and charm.

The ambiance was inviting, with a mix of chatter and laughter filling the air, creating a pleasant background noise that added to the comfort of the surroundings.

I was so eager to secure more allies and strengthen our position against him that it did not occur to me that Anika might have different ideas.

It was only after I was escorted to the assigned table by the waitress that I became aware of the deceit. My heart sank when I saw Ezra sitting calmly at the table, waiting for me, his sharp gaze surveying the room, ever vigilant.

He looked focused and determined, his presence commanding respect from those around him.

But not me. Never again.

I immediately turned to leave, my instincts urging me to escape this unexpected confrontation.

But before I could take more than a few steps, I found myself surrounded by Gustav and Emiel, two of Ezra's most trusted and skilled soldiers.

Fuck!

There was no escape; Ezra had come prepared. I reluctantly returned to the seat, my mind racing with thoughts of how this had all gone so wrong.

"What's the meaning of this, Ezra?" I demanded, trying to mask the unease in my voice.

Ezra's expression was a mix of seriousness and determination. "We need to talk, Silas. There's no need for violence."

I scoffed at his attempt at diplomacy. "Talk? After what you did at the wedding? You expect me to believe you just want to talk?"

"I know things got out of hand," Ezra admitted, his voice steady. "But I don't want a war. I want to find a way to resolve our differences peacefully."

I was taken aback by his words. Was he serious? Did he really believe that we could find a peaceful resolution after everything that had happened?

"You think I'll just forget what you did to Lily?" I seethed, the pain and anger from her death resurfacing.

Ezra's gaze softened, and for a moment, I saw a flicker of remorse in his eyes. "You know just as much as I do that I didn’t kill her, Silas. She was my mate and I know firsthand what it feels like to lose one, and I don't want to lose anyone else like that ever again."

His words tugged at my heart, but I quickly shook off any feelings of sympathy. This was just another one of his tricks, I told myself.

"You're lying!" I spat, trying to convince myself as much as him. "You're trying to manipulate me."

But deep down, I knew that Ezra was right. I didn't want any more loss or bloodshed either. My anger was driven by grief and pain, and it clouded my judgment.

And part of the reason was Zoya as well…

Gustav and Emiel kept their watchful eyes on me, ready to step in at any sign of trouble. I felt trapped, cornered not just physically, but emotionally as well.

At this point, a friendly waitress came over, her smile warm and welcoming, ready to take our orders.

Ezra and the others seemed relieved to have the distraction, as if it would make my anger any lesser.

I fumed silently as he entertained the waitress. I had enough rationality left in me not to violently put up a fight and make a scene, so I left him to it.

When the waitress finally left our booth, I glared at Ezra from across the table.

The ambiance of the restaurant seemed to dim slightly, matching the serious undertones of our discussion. Soft music played in the background, filling the gaps between our words and adding a touch of melancholy to the atmosphere.

"Silas, I understand your anger," Ezra continued, his voice gentle. "But let's find a way to move forward together. We can't change the past, but we can shape our future."

His words hit me hard, and I struggled to keep my emotions in check. I had to be strong, for my pack and for myself. For all the injustice I had suffered…

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "Fine, we'll talk. But this doesn't mean I forgive you."

Ezra nodded, seeming to understand. "That's all I'm asking for, Silas. Let's find a way to make things right."

As we began to talk, I felt a mix of uncertainty and hope, despite myself.

My heart pounded in my chest as I listened to Ezra's words, my mind torn between anger and… relief? I couldn't explain this other emotion that his words evoked from me.

Perhaps it was gratitude, because he had been willing to lower his pride and lend me a listening ear, even though it was clear that if a war broke out, he would have the upper hand.

Still… I didn't let my guard down. I kept my facial expression guarded, so he wouldn't have the idea that he was slowly getting to me.

He spoke calmly, but I could sense the power and determination behind his words.
