Zoya's P.O.V
The next morning, as I was reading a book to pass the time while I waited for Ezra to return home from a night shift, I checked my phone for the first time in a while since I woke up, and a mix of emotions washed over me.
There it was, a text notification, indicating that I had been removed from my family's chat group.
Honestly, after all that had happened I already expected something like this. I even thought it would happen sooner.
However, what I wasn’t ready for, was the message from my mother that was sitting in my inbox, waiting to rip my heart to shreds.
I hesitated for a moment before opening the message, preparing myself for the hurtful words that would follow.
You are no longer my daughter, my mother had written. She followed it up with, you and your fuck boy can go do whatever the hell with your lives, but from now on, you are no longer part of the family.
As I read my mother's message, tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to fall, but strangely, I didn't feel sad.
Rather, a sense of relief washed over me.
It was as if a heavy weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Her words were hurtful and cutting, but deep down, I knew that I had been carrying the burden of their expectations for far too long.
I stared at the text for a moment, trying to process the mixture of emotions swirling inside me.
There was sadness, of course, for the loss of my family's love and acceptance.
But beneath that, there was a newfound sense of freedom and liberation. I was no longer bound by their judgments and demands, and for the first time, I felt like I could truly be myself.
Part of me had always feared the disapproval and judgment of my family, but now that it had come to pass, I realized that their opinions no longer mattered.
I had my own life to live, my own choices to make, and I wouldn't let anyone dictate my happiness.
I couldn't help but smile through my tears, knowing that I was finally free to pursue the life I had always dreamed of. And with my baby on the way, I was glad that I no longer had to deal with that amount of negativity in my life.
As the morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, I made a silent promise to myself. I would fight for my happiness, follow my heart, and live a life without regrets that was dedicated to my own happiness.
I would no longer be confined by the judgments of others, but instead, I would embrace my newfound freedom with open arms.
Moreover… this child growing inside me represented a chance for me to rewrite my own story.
It was an opportunity to break free from the cycle of unkindness and indifference that I had endured in my own family.
I imagined a future filled with love, warmth, and kindness. A home where this little life would be embraced with open arms, cherished for who they are, and nurtured with all the love I had to give.
I knew that raising this child would not be easy, but I was determined to be the mother I had always wished for — a mother who would shower them with affection, support their dreams, and provide a safe haven of love and understanding.
My own experiences had taught me the value of empathy and compassion, and I wanted to pass that on to my child.
I wanted to break the cycle of hurt and create a new legacy of love and acceptance for generations to come.
This baby deserved a life filled with happiness and joy, and I vowed to do everything in my power to provide just that.
Suddenly, a strange sensation washed over me, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. It was as if a shiver had raced down my spine, leaving my skin tingling with an eerie feeling. The cabin, once familiar and comforting, now seemed to have an unsettling aura.
What was happening? I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched, that unseen eyes were following my every move. My heart began to beat faster as I tried to make sense of this strange intuition.
I was feeling like… like I was being… watched…?
The feeling crept up my spine, leaving me with an inexplicable sense of unease.
I cast a quick glance around the room, half-expecting to find someone lurking in the shadows. My eyes caught fleeting movements, tricks of the light, or maybe just my mind playing jokes on me. The unease persisted.
But the cabin remained still and silent, the only sound being the soft whooshing of the wind from the outside.
The soft glow of the sun outside cast long, haunting shadows across the cabin's walls, amplifying my sense of isolation.
The wind gently rustled the trees and sent a chill through the open window, causing the curtains to sway like ghostly apparitions.
Frowning, I turned my attention to the window, my heart beating a little faster as I peered outside into the familiar woods that surrounded my home.
The sunlight bathed the forest in a golden glow, casting long, eerie shadows on the ground. The trees swayed gently in the morning breeze, and the leaves rustled softly, creating a soothing melody that I had grown to find comforting.
However, today was different. The woods, which had always been my sanctuary, now seemed to hold secrets I couldn't decipher.
I strained my eyes, searching for any signs of movement, but the shadows concealed everything, leaving me with a gnawing feeling of vulnerability.
What the hell was happening? Why did I feel such fear in my own home?
Determined to shake off the unease, I told myself it was probably just my imagination playing tricks on me.
