Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 116: An Ominous Feeling Part 2

Ch. 116 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya's P.O.V

Maybe it was the combination of exhaustion and the events of the previous day that were making me jumpy.

After all, the confrontation with Silas and the unexpected pregnancy revelation had left my emotions in turmoil.

I tried to return to my book, hoping to distract myself from the strange feeling, but I still couldn't shake the sensation of being observed.

Instead, I took a deep breath, attempting to calm my racing heart.

I was alone in the cabin today because Ezra had told me to take a few days off work since I was pregnant. Meanwhile, he himself was out in his office all night long, planning on strengthening their borders.

That means…if something ever happens to me, there would be no one around to help.

Yeah. I better lock my damn doors and windows.

Despite the unsettling feeling of being watched, I hesitated to call Ezra.

I didn't want to burden him with my fears while he was busy with his responsibilities as Alpha and Sheriff.

Besides, I thought, perhaps I could handle this on my own and it was just my imagination running wild.

Taking a deep breath, I decided to investigate further.

Maybe there was a rational explanation for the strange sensations I was experiencing.

As I moved around the cabin, trying to find some sort of explanation to what I was feeling, I tried to dismiss the unease, reminding myself that it was probably just the result of a long and eventful yesterday.

However, the strange energy in the air persisted, making it hard to concentrate on anything else.

I lit a few scented candles, hoping their warm glow and sweet scent would dispel the shadows that seemed to play tricks on my mind.

As I settled back on the couch, I picked up my book once more, attempting to lose myself in the words.

But every rustle of leaves outside or creak of the floorboards seemed to echo in the silence, making it impossible to ignore the feeling of being watched.

In another try to ground myself, I brewed a cup of soothing chamomile tea. The aroma filled the room, and I took comfort in the familiar scent.

Yet, even as I sipped the warm liquid, I just couldn't shake that eerie feeling. In fact, it seemed to grow stronger, and I realized that I wouldn’t feel better unless I did something about it.

Unable to distract myself any longer, I decided to step outside for a moment. The late morning air was cool against my skin, and I scanned the darkened woods, searching for any sign of movement.

Nothing.

What did I expect? Maybe these were just pregnancy jitters.

"Get a grip, Zoya," I muttered to myself, trying to shake off the fear. "It's just your imagination playing tricks on you."

But my resolve wavered as the feeling of being observed only grew stronger.

The woods, which had always been my solace, now felt like an ominous enigma.

It sent another shiver through my spine, and I felt so exposed here outside.

This wasn’t helping. Instead of getting a breath of fresh air, I only felt more scared.

Returning inside, I stood by the window, gazing out at the sunlit landscape.

The golden light danced on the trees, and for a moment, I thought I saw a figure lurking in the shadows.

My breath hitched, and I pressed my hand against my chest, trying to calm the rapid beating of my heart.

But then I blinked, and I realized that it might have just been a trick of the light.

I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more to the unease, a hidden presence lingering just beyond my sight.

Perhaps it was my instincts trying to warn me of something I couldn't quite grasp.

I resolved to stay vigilant and keep a cautious eye on my surroundings.

The woods might have been my haven, but right now, two packs were on the brink of a war, making me realize that even in the place I felt safest, I needed to remain aware of the world outside.

As I felt the unease intensify, my instincts kicked into high gear, urging me to secure the cabin.

It didn’t hurt to be extra careful, did it?

I quickly moved to each window, pulling the curtains shut and locking them tightly.

The faint creaks of the wooden floors beneath my feet seemed to echo loudly in the silence, and I couldn't shake the feeling that unseen eyes were watching my every move.

With my heart pounding in my chest, I turned my attention to the front door. My trembling hands fumbled slightly with the lock, but I managed to secure it firmly.

I took a deep breath, hoping that the extra security would provide some comfort, even if it was just psychological.

As I stood there, a myriad of thoughts raced through my mind. The possibility of enemy wolves lurking in the darkness weighed heavily on my thoughts.

I knew that if they were determined to cause harm, there would be little I could do to defend myself and my baby against a pack of wild and powerful creatures. My only hope was that Ezra's pack would come to our rescue in time.

Doubts about Silas and his motives consumed my thoughts.

I couldn't ignore the fact that he had harbored ill feelings towards me ever since he discovered my connection to Ezra.

Could this… possibly be his doing?

The memory of his confrontation at the wedding replayed in my mind, his anger and jealousy palpable.

I couldn't help but wonder if he might resort to extreme measures to hurt me, just as he had with Lily.

Would he kill me like he killed her? In cold, murderous blood?

Despite my fear, I knew I had to stay vigilant and keep my wits about me. Silas… if he was the one behind this… was unpredictable, and I couldn't afford to underestimate him.

As I sat in the dimly lit living room, I found myself glancing nervously at the clock, each minute feeling like an eternity.

The soothing crackle of the fireplace that usually comforted me now seemed almost mocking in its warmth, as if it knew something I didn't.

I held on to the hope that Ezra's pack would sense any intrusion and come to our aid.

But as the day dragged on, the tension in the air seemed to thicken, leaving me feeling more isolated and vulnerable than ever before.

I could only pray that my instincts were wrong, and that the day would pass without incident.
