"OW! Son of a motherfucking asshole!" Jake screamed and laid down on the back seat. He held his crotch and groaned in pain.
"That's what you get for getting all rapey on me, you idiot," I said.
"Ugh Janey...it hurts," he whined.
I felt kind of bad. Maybe I kneed him harder than I intended. I ran over to him and looked down.
"Are you okay? Did I break your balls?" I said with fake concern.
"I don't know, take a look," he said and pulled me down on top of him, then flipped me over. He tricked me!
"Get off of me, you imbecile," I struggled underneath him.
"Not until you apologize," he laughed.
"No way, you should've kept your hands to yourself," I whined.
His eyes softened. "Yeah, sorry. I got carried away. I'd never force myself on you, I promise," he said.
Jake? Apologizing? That's a first.
"I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to hit you that hard," I said.
"I think I'm okay. We can still make a bunch of babies together, don't worry," Jake grinned dubiously.
"Hah, you wish," I said, but I could already feel myself blushing. Why did he have to go and say stuff like this to me?
"Thank you for spending time with me on my birthday," he said. His eyes were dark again.
I remembered what Emily told me. About him liking me. The way he was acting was making me believe his feelings were real. But what about me, do I like him? All I knew was my heart fluttered uncontrollably every time he was near me.
"I...I want to spend the whole day with you. If...you want?" I said nervously.
Jake's eyes lit up. "Really? You mean it?" he asked.
"Yeah, it's your birthday, so...I don't want you to be alone. But that is if you promise not to harass me," I said
"I'll try not to," he chuckled.
"But first, I need to go home and change. I look like a hobo," I said.
"Whatever you say. I still think you are fine, but I'll take you home," he said.
I changed while he waited for me in the living room. I put on a cute shirt and paired it with white shorts. My hair was having one of its wild days, so I could do nothing with it in such a short amount of time, so I just left it alone.
"Where to now, good sir?" I asked him.
"My house, so I can get you alone and do inappropriate things to you," he said casually.
"Nevermind then, have fun spending your birthday alone," I said.
"I am joking! Jeez, we are just going to play some video games or something. You like that, right?" he asked.
"Okay," I said quietly. I would be lying if I said the thought of spending alone time with him didn't make me nervous. But I promised to spend the whole day with him, so a promise is a promise, right?
I spent the day playing video games and bickering with Jake. But, surprisingly enough, he didn't try to make a move on me the entire time. Maybe my knee to his crotch taught him a lesson.
He is actually fun to hang out with when he is not being a jerk. He was funny and kind of adorable.
Did I just call Jake Morris adorable? I must've gone insane already.
"What do you want to do now?" he asked.
"Let's bake a cake," I said.
"You know how to bake?" he raised his eyebrows.
"Yup, one of my specialties. Then after I finish baking it, we are going to sit in front of the window together like in the movie, sixteen candles," I announced.
"You are such a dork," Jake rolled his eyes, but he was smiling. "I'm not even turning sixteen. I turned seventeen."
"Huh? Were you my age till now? But you are a senior," I was confused. He was kind of young to be a senior.
Jake seemed uncomfortable. "Yeah...I kind of skipped a grade."
"YOU!? Skipped a grade? Hahaha..." I chuckled. "Oh, you are serious."
He shrugged.
"Wait..that means you are smart. Then why did you make me come over that day to help you with math?" I asked.
"I don't want anyone to know I'm a straight-A student. I have to keep up with my hooligan reputation. And...I asked you because I just wanted an excuse to hang out with you," he gave me a shy smile.
Who is this guy, and what did he do with the bad boy Jake?
"And you said I was a nerd," I grinned.
"You better not tell anyone, or I'll make you pay Jane Brown!" he threatened me.
"Whatever, let's get baking," I said and dragged him into the kitchen.
It took me an hour to get that cake in the oven, even though it should've taken me no more than 30 minutes because Jake won't stop messing around.
"Thank you so much for dumping an entire bowl of flour on my head and screaming, Janey, your hair turned grey, you stupid shit," I said angrily.
"It was an accident," Jake said nonchalantly.
"A-ha...sure. I need to borrow your shower and clothes," I said and looked at my shirt, which was covered in flour and sticky frosting.
Jake took out a t-shirt and threw it at me. "You can borrow this," he said.
I immediately went to take a shower and wash my hair. Why is it every time I hang out with Jake, my night ends in chaos?
Ah, much better, I thought as I stepped out of the shower.
Jake was sitting by the window, waiting for me.
"Hey, I'm done," I said quietly.
He looked at me but didn't say anything and just stared at me.
"Wha...what?" I asked. I was suddenly feeling nervous as his heated eyes trailed up and down on my body.
"I like you in my shirt," he said. His voice was lower and huskier somehow.
He stepped closer and grazed his fingers on my cheek, sending a jolt of electricity through my veins. I hated the fact that he affected me this much.
"I want to touch you more. Is that okay?" he whispered.
I gulped. His fingers on my skin were making me hot.
