"I can't believe you went over to her house and asked her questions. You are nuts," Jake remarked when I told him about Bella.
"Tell me something I don't know," I rolled my eyes.
"So, what do you think of her? Did she seem like a crazy person?" Jake asked me and looked at me curiously.
"Nope. Not at all. She seemed like a perfectly sane person. Although, she did admit she still likes Aaron," I said.
"Who still likes Aaron?" Aaron walked in. He must've overheard our conversation.
"Bella Davis," I said.
"And how do you know that?" he raised his eyebrows.
"Through her excellent detective skills," Jake replied for me.
Aaron shook his head. "She is just so...ugh," his face was turning red. Wait...is he blushing?
"I can't believe you managed to avoid her this whole time," Jake chuckled.
"I've been very careful," Aaron said.
"She is really not that bad. And she is so pretty!" I remarked.
"Hell no. But thanks for the advice," Aaron frowned and left the room.
"Motherfucke-....!!" I heard him screaming outside, and it hadn't even been 2 minutes since he left.
Jake jumped out of the couch and ran outside. I followed.
"What happened?" I asked frantically.
"Someone slashed my tire. All four of them," Aaron said. He was red with fury. His fists were closed, like he was about to punch someone. "That's it. I'm going to talk to her," he said.
"Bro..." Jake hesitated.
"It couldn't be her! She likes you! Why would she do that to someone she likes? That makes no sense!" I protested.
"Her obsession doesn't make sense! Who else could it be? I'm going over there," he said and stormed over to her house.
Poor Bella. I hope she was ready for Aaron Morris's wrath.
"We should go with him, you know...for safety," I suggested to Jake.
"Aaron can handle a girl," Jake said dismissively.
"I meant for Bella. He looks angry," I said. I was seriously worried about her and refused to believe she was the bad guy.
Jake chuckled. "Sure, let's go see what's happening," he said.
"Bella! Open the door. I need to talk to you!" Aaron yelled.
The door flew open almost immediately and Bella stood in front of him wide-eyed.
"Aaron! It's been so long!" she proceeded to hug him, but he pushed her away. Oops...denied.
"Save the pleasantries for later. Did you throw a rock at my window and slashed my tire?" Aaron asked. Damn...no hi, how are you?
Her eyes went even bigger. "What are you talking about? I didn't do those things!" She said.
"You didn't write this note?" Aaron took the note out of his pocket and shoved it in her hands.
"No, silly. This is not even my handwriting. You should know since I gave you all those letters before," she smiled.
"So what? You could change your handwriting or have someone else write this! It had to be you, Bella. You did crazy shit to me before," Aaron said irritably.
"Yes, I did some things, but I owned up to them. I didn't do what you just accused me of, so I don't appreciate it. Goodbye," Bella declared and slammed the door shut.
"Well...that settles it," I shrugged.
"I don't believe her," Aaron said gruffly.
Aaaaand we are back to square one.
The next few days, everything seemed normal. Then, finally, it was time for us to go on our family trip, so Jake and I were hyped up about it. I couldn't believe my parents had agreed to let me take him. Nothing ever goes my way, so this was exciting.
Jake wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me onto his lap. His parents were out of town, so we had the whole house to ourselves. Well, us and Aaron. But he was seldom home.
We were just about to get it on when we heard a commotion outside. It sounded like someone was arguing outside on the driveway. We could hear it through the open window.
"Now what?" Jake sighed and jumped up, then walked to the window. I followed.
I saw Aaron standing outside, practically fuming. Standing in front of him was none other than Bella Davis!
"Oh boy, we better go down there before Big bro loses it completely," Jake said and headed outside. Great, more drama.
"I told you a hundred times. I am not going to like you, no matter what! So just leave me the fuck alone!" Aaron cried.
"I just don't understand why? Why won't you like me? What's wrong with me?" Bella asked. Sadness enveloped her face.
"What is wrong with you? Are you seriously asking me? First, you threw a rock at my window, slashed my tire, and now this?" he pointed at his car. It was the first time I noticed the big, bold scratch on the side of the car that said, Let Macie Go.
Yikes. Aaron loved his car. Whoever did this must not value their life because he'd probably kill him. I hoped Bella was telling the truth and didn't do something like this.
"For the last time! I didn't do this. Why won't you believe me?" Bella looked at Aaron with her big, sad, and pitiful blue eyes. "Sure, I've done some crazy stuff back then, but this is low. I would never go this far."
"The hell you won't," Aaron barked. "I've been way too nice, but not anymore. You are going to pay for this."
"No, I am not," she declared and tried to walk away, but Aaron grabbed her wrist.
"Whoa whoa, let's just take it easy," I said to the fuming Aaron. "We don't have proof that it was Bella who did that. It could be anyone!" I announced.
"Who else is obsessed with me and has reasons to hate Macie?" Aaron asked.
"Okay, you got me there," I said and looked at Bella. "You really didn't do this?" I asked.
"NO!" she screamed. "I love Aaron! I would never do anything to hurt him. I want him to love me. That's all I want!"
Oh boy. Maybe she was capable of doing stuff like this. How could she love someone who wouldn't give her the time of his day?
Aaron let go of her. "This isn't over. I will get you back for this," he said.
"Ugh! I didn't do it!" she screamed and ran back to her house.
"GODDAMMIT!" Aaron punched the hood of his car in frustration.
"Let's just calm down, okay? It's not like we can't afford the paint job," Jake remarked.
"It's not about the money. It's about how a psycho girl is trying to come between Macie and me!" Aaron said. "Hey, I need to ask you guys a favor."
"What's that?" I asked.
"Is it cool if Macie and I come on the trip with you guys? I'll drive myself up there and pay for my own hotel room, of course. I just need to get away from this craziness for a few days," he said and looked at me with pleading eyes.
I was taken aback by his sudden request but didn't see a problem with him tagging along. I just had to ask my parents if it was okay with them.
"Sure, I'll ask my parents," I smiled.
