Things went back to normal after the trip. No more Trevor vandalizing Aaron's properties and no more ex-boyfriend drama, at least for now. The next time they met Aaron apologized to Bella awkwardly. She accepted his apology wholeheartedly, but he knew from her eyes that she was still interested in him. Despite everything, she continued her obsession with him, and she wasn't about to ignore him just because he had a girlfriend.
That girl was persistent!
I was in my senior year, and I was preparing for college. Jake already graduated before me, but he was taking a year off so he could be with me despite my protests.
"We are applying at the same college because you are not allowed to be separated from me," he declared as I attempted to push him away.
"Excuse me...don't I have anything to say to this, Mr. Possessive? What if I don't want to go to the same school as you?" I demanded to know. All he did was wrap his arms around me tighter.
He leaned closer and stared into my eyes intensely. "You don't?" he asked. His brown eyes were dark, and sadness flickered in them.
"Don't look at me like that. That's not fair," I whined.
"What are you talking about? Look at you like what?" he acted obliviously. Jerk.
"Look at me with those sad-looking doe eyes to emotionally blackmail me. You think just because you are giving me a cute look. I will change my mind about going to a different college," I pouted.
"Well? Did it work? Did I change your mind?" he smirked.
I sighed. "Yes...you evil bastard," I said.
He chuckled and kissed me. "I am just kidding around, Janey. You can go to whatever college you feel like. But I would like us to live together, at least," he said.
I smiled at him. "I want that too."
"FUCKING HELL!" someone yelled, interrupting us. I jumped out of bed and almost fell on the floor.
"What the hell, Aaron?" Jake asked irritably.
"It's happening again," Aaron huffed and puffed.
"What's happening?" I looked at him curiously.
"Bella...she is starting it again," he said. He looked genuinely distressed. What's the big deal? I thought.
"I don't get why it's so bad. Can't you just ignore her?" I suggested.
"You tried to ignore Jake. How did that work out for you?" Aaron pointed out.
"HEY! I wasn't stalking her. She liked me from the beginning. Isn't that right, Janey?" Jake looked at me lovingly.
"I wouldn't say I liked you from the beginning. You just grew on me," I grinned.
"Guys! Focus! I am having a crisis. I mean, look!" he handed us a booklet.
Jake took the booklet and opened it. I almost snorted as I saw what it was. It was not a booklet. It was a goddamn love letter! At least ten pages long! I admire her spirit.
"Dude," Jake laughed.
"This isn't funny," Aaron was annoyed.
"You are right. Who writes letters anymore? Especially one that looks like a research paper. She should've emailed you instead," I said. "Or a long text message!"
"This isn't funny, Jane. She wrote a lot of ...weird things. What if Macie sees it and misunderstands me?" Aaron said and looked at us desperately.
"Well then, let's go out back and burn it, Jake suggested.
"Wait...no. I don't want that," Aaron said quickly and took it off of Jake's hands.
"Why not?" Jake asked.
"Eh...it took her a lot of effort to write this, so I am just gonna keep it," Aaron said quietly.
Awww... Aaron is still being the nice guy to the creepy girl. No wonder she won't give up on him.
"You'll be going back to college next week. Then you can be far away from her and live happily ever after with Macie," I said and smiled reassuringly.
"There's only one problem with that scenario," Aaron sighed. I looked at him questioningly.
"Bella just informed me she is attending my college this semester. So I am screwed," Aaron shook his head, frustrated.
True love has no bounds, I guess.
"Well, I think it's great that you decided to still keep the letter. If nothing else, it will be a reminder of how persistent Bella was and how strong your relationship with Macie is," I suggested.
Aaron seemed to consider this for a moment.
"You know what? You're right. I'll keep the letter as a reminder of what I have now and what I have to look forward to in the future," Aaron said with newfound determination.
Jake and I both smiled at him.
"Now that was settled, let's go out for dinner," Jake said.
Aaron nodded in agreement and we all left for a much needed break from this drama.
As we walked into the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel curious. Sure, I was happy that Aaron had made a decision, but there was a part of me that wanted to know what Bella had written that was so weird. Macie was going to be a few minutes late in joining us, so here was my chance to be nosy.
"So, what exactly did Bella write?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
Aaron grimaced. "It's really not important, Jane."
"I know, I know. But you have to admit, it's a little intriguing," I persisted.
Jake rolled his eyes. "Come on, Jane. Leave the poor guy alone."
But Aaron surprised me by pulling the letter out of his pocket and handing it to me. "Fine. You can read it if you want. Just don't make fun of me."
I eagerly took the letter from him and started reading. It was ten pages long and filled with declarations of love and admiration for Aaron.
"Whoa!" I gasped as I found a few lines quite...suggestive.
Aaron turned crimson as if he knew what part I was reading. "Yeah, I know. That's why I couldn't show it to Macie."
I handed the letter back to him and shook my head in awe. "That's really intense."
Jake cocked his head toward me. "What did it say?" he asked.
I hesitated for a moment, not wanting to embarrass Aaron any further. But then, I decided to share the juicy details anyway. "Let's just say Bella has some very specific fantasies involving Aaron," I said with a mischievous grin.
Jake raised his eyebrows in surprise while Aaron buried his face in his hands, clearly mortified.
We all laughed and settled into our seats, enjoying a much-needed night out and some delicious food. As we chatted and caught up on each other's lives, I couldn't help but feel grateful for these two wonderful friends and the bond we shared. Whatever drama came our way, we had each other's backs.
And even though Jake acted tough and possessive, he was still the sweet Jake who loved me with all of my quirks. I loved him, and he made me laugh with his cringy nicknames and a sick sense of humor. He called me beautiful every day. And when he looked at me with those dark brown eyes full of adoration and lust, I felt like the most beautiful girl in the world.
So I guess I wasn't the ugly one after all.
Author's Note: Hey guys, this is the end of Jake and Jane's story but next chapter, I am starting Aaron's story so stick around!
