The first semester of college...
I looked in the mirror and found myself staring at the more mature and grown-up version of myself. Or at least, that's what I think I am. Jake, on the other hand, was still a child at heart. Of course, Macie would disagree and call me immature at times, but we both knew that I was ten times more mature between me and my brother Jake.
Macie would always scold me for talking shit about Jake. She thought I still held a grudge against him for stealing my girl last year. He had taken her right before my eyes, and I could not stop it since she was in love with him.
But I suppose he needed someone too.
Jane...
To be honest, I was pissed and hurt, but I fully got over it after a while. Because I, Aaron Morris, am not the type to whine and cry over a girl. I was far better than that. I decided to move on with my life. There is plenty of fish in the sea, right?
Besides, it wasn't like I had a hard time finding a girlfriend. I wasn't a bad looking guy. In fact, many girls found my tousled brown hair, bright green eyes, and muscular physique quite attractive. Some said I was charming, which is why it wasn't hard for me to replace Jane.
Macie practically fell on my lap at the fro-yo shop, and she is crazy about me. At least, that's what I think. But lately I've been feeling this way of sensation - a sort of nervous fluttering in between my chest and stomach - that isn't necessarily romantic love but maybe the beginning of something else.
"Dude, are you done checking yourself out yet? We get it. You are soooo good-looking!" Jake yelled from the room next to me.
"Fuck you, Jake!" I yelled. My brother was all over my business, and that could get old at times.
The sound of Jane's giggle floated out from his room down the hall to mine. Those two were practically joined by the hips. Even I couldn't help but think they were good together. Sometimes I got jealous, but mostly I thought it was cute.
As far as Macie goes, she was gorgeous, and we've been dating for three months now, but I still wasn't sure if I was in love with her or not. I guess only time can tell.
I came out of the bathroom and gave Jake a dirty look, then headed outside. I didn't want to be late on my first day of college.
I had dreams of leaving this house for good, but first, I needed to get everything in order.
Jake said something over his shoulder as I left. It sounded like he was apologizing for being an ass or something, but I was too distracted by the noise coming from the street that led me.
"Aaron!"
I halted as I heard the dreaded voice of my annoying neighbor. She was the bane of my existence.
I cringed and rummaged inside my pocket and frantically searched for my keys. I needed to get the fuck out of here before she caught up to me. I finally got the key out and proceeded to open the door, but someone pulled on my sleeve.
I turned around to look at the smiling face of my red-headed nightmare.
Bella Davis...
"What?" I barked.
The smile on her face disappeared. "You don't have to be so mean this early in the morning," she pouted and looked at me with those big blue eyes.
I felt a little bad for being harsh, but at the same time, I've dealt with enough of her bullshit.
"Sorry. What can I do for you, Bella? I need to go soon," I said.
"Oh...um..." She gripped the strap of her bag with nervous fingers. "Do you mind if I come along? I have a class today, too," she said, smiling again. It didn't take much for her to recover, huh?
Oh fuck...I forgot she enrolled at the same college as me. Most likely to stalk me some more. She is like a parasite I couldn't get rid of.
"Well?" she asked. Bella's voice was calm and sweet, which made me even more furious.
"No way! I don't want you near me. I have a girlfriend now, Bella. You need to stop clinging to me every chance you get and back off," I said irritably.
"But Aaron..." she started to say.
"No buts. I'm out of here," I said and shut the door.
She knocked on my window.
"What now?" I asked and opened the window reluctantly.
"I made you some lunch," she took out a lunch box and put it on my lap.
"I don't want this," I waved it away.
"You'll like it! It's your favorite, see? I woke up extra early to make this for you. So just take it, please? Or I'll keep bothering you about it," she grinned.
"Jeez...fine, just this once," I caved in, and took the box from her hand. At least she cares about me, even if I wish she didn't sometimes.
I closed the window again.
"Oh okay, I'll see you in college then!" Bella chirped.
"NO!" I cried and drove away. I hope she is not going to be a pain this semester.
