The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 697

Ch. 687 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael wasn’t ready to give up, not when there was still a chance to rebuild what they had. Determined to help Bella feel like part of the pack again, he took matters into his own hands. He organized a grand celebration in her honor, hoping that a festive atmosphere could spark some sense of belonging in Bella’s heart. It was a gesture of goodwill, an attempt to remind her that she still had a place among them, despite everything.

The pack house was adorned with banners, candles, and colorful decorations. The sounds of laughter and music filled the air, and the smells of delicious food wafted through the house. Kael was at the center of it all, greeting pack members and ensuring everything went smoothly. But his eyes kept drifting toward Bella, who stood at the edge of the celebration, looking both out of place and oddly intrigued.

Bella hesitated at first, reluctant to participate, but she eventually agreed, sensing Kael’s desperation. She knew he was trying to help her, but the weight of her confusion still hung heavily around her. She had no memory of the past, no sense of who she truly was, and no idea where her future was headed. But as she walked further into the crowd, something shifted.

She found herself speaking with a few of the packmates who had once doubted her, and their warm smiles and genuine conversations surprised her. She began to feel the smallest hints of connection, moments where the tension in her chest loosened. It wasn’t much, but it was something.

For a fleeting second, Bella thought she could almost feel the bond, the same bond Kael kept trying to revive. She watched as Misery and Eryon danced nearby, laughing and teasing each other. Their faces were familiar, their voices comforting. There was a sense of home here, a place she could belong to—if only her mind could catch up with her heart.

But then she would look over at Kael, and the bond between them felt distant, like a thread that had frayed with time. His eyes never left her, his expressions a mixture of longing and concern. It was clear he was trying, but Bella couldn’t return what he was offering. She couldn’t give him something she no longer remembered how to feel.

Despite the warmth of the celebration, the void between them remained, just as large as before. Bella longed for something, anything, to make her feel whole again. But every time Kael reached for her, it felt like she was drifting further away from him.

As the evening wore on, Bella retreated to a quieter part of the house, standing by the open window where the sounds of the party were muffled by the thick walls. She closed her eyes, trying to focus, to remember something—anything—that would make sense of all the confusion inside her.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the soft sound of footsteps approaching. Bella turned to see Zeryth, his expression unreadable. He had been watching her from afar all evening, and now, he seemed to be drawn to her like a magnet.

“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice low and steady.

Bella nodded but didn’t meet his eyes. “I guess,” she said quietly, her voice tinged with uncertainty. “I just don’t know where I belong.”

Zeryth studied her for a moment, his gaze sharp, as if he was weighing something in his mind. He stepped closer, his presence commanding yet calm.

“I know this must be overwhelming,” he said gently. “But you’re not alone in this. You’ve always had a place here, with us.”

Bella looked at him, unsure of how to respond. Zeryth had always been different from Kael—more reserved, less forceful. There was something about him, something in the way he spoke, that made Bella feel less like a stranger. But she didn’t want to get too close to anyone—not when her heart and mind were still in turmoil.

“Why are you helping me?” Bella asked, a small frown on her face. “You don’t owe me anything.”

Zeryth gave a soft smile, his eyes softening with what might have been sympathy—or perhaps something more. “Maybe I do,” he replied. “But right now, I think you need the truth more than anything else.”

Bella’s heart skipped a beat. She tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “What do you mean?”

Zeryth glanced back toward the celebration, as if making sure no one was watching them. Then he turned back to Bella, his expression serious. “I can make you remember everything,” he said quietly, his voice almost a whisper. “But are you ready for the truth?”

Bella froze, her pulse quickening. The weight of his words settled into her chest like a stone, sinking deeper with each second. What did he mean by “the truth”? What could he possibly reveal that she hadn’t already been through? And if it was the truth… was she truly ready to face it?
