Dane's POV.
“She is being tagged as a threat to the Greenstone pack, and she must go on her knees to beg Camilla!” Edmond declared with an audible voice, provoking me the more.
“You want my mate, your Luna to...” I was going to say, but almost immediately, he cut in, making me stunned for a split second.
“Oh no, Alpha Dane... She isn't my Luna yet; she isn't our Luna yet, not until she goes to make things right! We wouldn't want to fail the trust of Alpha Halfdan, and I'm pretty sure you are aware of it.” He stated, my eyes were becoming vicious as I gazed around the room.
No one was speaking; no one was saying anything to him or trying to correct him. He had paid off each of them, and it made it difficult for any of them to stand up against him and oppose him.
“Well, Edmond…” I stood to my feet, and with slow but deliberate strides, I walked over to where he was seated.
Maliciously, I sat down on the table, making me stay pretty close before him with a smirk curling up across my lips as I glared at him.
“I'm sorry to say this, Edmond, but firstly, you are not my Beta, so you definitely have no right to advise me or urge me to do what I don't want to do!” I snarled, folding my arms across my chest ominously.
“But Alpha Dane you...” I swiftly cut in, not minding or caring if he had something important to say to me.
“Secondly…” I leaned closer to his face, my eyes piercing deep into his eyes like I was about to rip out his pupils.
“You don't expect me, the all-time mighty Alpha, to let his Luna or mate go to the Greenstone pack and kneel before them, right?”
“You don't expect me to let my Luna go meet those deceitful liars all in the name of making things right, do you?” I pulled out after I raised a question, my eyes not leaving his as I awaited a response from him.
“I...” he stuttered, making me cackle. He didn't have any more words to say to me, and it was because he was scared.
I slowly stood up from the table, looking around the hall once more. I couldn't help but shake my head in disappointment.
“It's obvious that there is nothing impressive to speak about anymore. Therefore, this discussion is over!” I affirmed, and with my hands sliding into my pockets, I turned on my heels.
I was about to walk out of the hall and head straight for my room, but I guess Edmond wasn't going to let such things happen. He wasn't satisfied.
“She must go to them and beg them! Who knows, she might be at fault here! Don't protect her, Dane! This is for your own good!” He professed, making me clench my fist immediately.
I swiftly changed direction to him, and with my glare fixed on him, he could see the rage that burned within me.
“For my own good or your own good, Edmond? It's apparent that you have gotten something from them, and you just can't wait to humiliate my name before everyone!” I contended with a deep voice that shook the hall.
“You have to understand what's at play here… They could attack the pack because of this.” He still tried convincing me, making me get irritated.
“Shut your fang’s hole, Edmond!!!” I growled at this point, my veins pulsating as I had gotten enough of his absurdity.
“Attack us, you say? Well, Edmond, I'd like to see them try. They are nothing but a pack that has nonentity, and my Luna will never kneel before someone as inferior as they are!” I affirmed it clearly.
“One more word about this situation again; I won't let it slide!” I warned before turning on my heels, and before they could utter another word to me, I stormed out of the hall and slammed the door right behind me.
I headed straight for my study room, my heart racing with nothing but wrath at this point. The second the door was opened, Beta Ivar, who was standing close, handed me a glass of water.
Just as I was about to take a gulp from it, his words stopped my every move for a split second.
“How did it go, Alpha Dane?” He questioned, skimming at me with a curious gaze.
Turning to him, I couldn't help but recall the fact that he was the one who had forced me to meet them.
“Fuck!” I shouted with fury as I tossed the glass against the wall, making it shatter and crash to the ground.
Beta Ivar, noticing my rage, immediately shifted backwards, not wanting me to transfer my rage to him entirely.
“How dare they? What do they take me for? A fool? I'll make sure they pay! They must!” I barked as I ran my fingers through my hair.
With loud thudding steps, I walked over to my chair, and sitting on it, I struck my hand countless times on the table, trying to let go of the anger caging me on the inside.
It was one thing to humiliate me in my own pack, and it was another thing to humiliate me before other Alphas who were below me.
“Never! She's never going to do it!” I declared fiercely.
“Alpha Dane, what really happened?” Beta Ivar questioned again, but this time with a soft voice.
I didn't want to speak, but then he had the right to know.
“The pack elders want My Luna... They want Astrid to kneel before Camilla, Alpha Halfdan’s Mate!” I finally divulged, and instantly, I could see the disappointment etched on Beta Ivar's face.
“What? That has never happened before! The mate of the powerful Alpha is going to kneel before an Alpha below him!? What do they take you for?” He argued, worry tinged in his tone.
“They won't get what they want, even if there is to be a war between the two packs... I am willing to do anything to avoid this humiliation.”
