128 What Next pov

Ch. 128 / 142 May 02, 2026

The alphas, lunas, their close friends, and family remained at the firepit. They say around the table, talking into the night about ideas for the elite werewolf force they wanted to create to focus on rescuing trafficked and kidnapped victims. They are different ways. They wanted to move the race forward but held onto their beliefs and ways. All of them agreed it still was not the time to come forth and let the human world know that supernatural beings existed. The humans could not help it, but they just would not handle that kind of information well. Some humans would have no problems with the supernaturals, but as with any race, they are those who would do evil terrible things to those they did not understand. So, the supernatural world could help the human world while trying to protect and keep its own. They could do the same for humans when needed.

Zeus and Hera had excused themselves, saying they were needed in their realm. However, they met Gaia in the forest and listened to the conversation among the ranking wolves and those they trusted. Gaia was impressed with everything she had heard that evening. Turning to Zeus she smiled, "I told you when those girls were born that they were special. Look what they have and are accomplishing. It took an eternity and some interference to get them to where they needed to be."

Hera whispered to make sure her voice did not carry, "That man you called husband did not make things easy. Those girls went through hell and back to begin the true journey set for them."

"Yes, well, I never claimed Uranus wasn't a power-hungry idiot." Gaia sniped back. "It just took me a while to realize how insane he was."

Zeua interrupted before they could get a full-blown argument started, "Uranus is gone, and we have to decide what our next move is for these wolves. When all is said and done they will still need our guidance."

Hera reflected quietly, "And isn't that what a deity is for? To give guidance when asked?"

The other two gods agreed wholeheartedly with Hera, and Zeus asked, "How are you planning on moving forward with the evolution of these wolves?" He looked at Gaia for the answer to his question because she had been the one driving everything related to the werewolf race from the beginning. She had ensured that Theia would have twin girls to make up the moon goddess and that they would want to create their own race. Zeus was sure that Gaia had him give the gift of creation so she would have something in common with her granddaughters. It had been his and Hera's idea to give them each the extra gifts of mate matching and wolf matching.

Gaia had started talking bringing him out of his musings, "Once they have worked out all of the particulars of this new pack they are forming, then I will allow them to return to their homes. They will fall asleep like normal, but I will keep them asleep until the evolution has completed."

Hera was quiet and mulling things over when Zeus inquired of her, "What is it, my love? I can feel your concern for these wolves and others you have come to love so much."

Hera sighed, "They are going to be so confused when they are awakened and scared when they discover things are different. Then I cannot help but worry about those who may be left behind because of the differences between species. I just think that all who are members of the packs should be included in the evolution somehow." She paused for a moment and then added, "Are you not worried about Crael and Lorna? They will have to watch what they used to be change and they will never be able to experience it. Or what about Nathan? Will your blood running in his veins be a hindrance through the changes that will happen?"

Zeus thought, leave it to his beautiful mate; she thought of all angles of the situation. He was worried about Nathan, he did not know what having his blood coursing through his body would do during all of this. Taking Hera's hand, he told her, "My sweet, I have decided to give Crael and Lorna their lives back if the wolves move forward in the direction they seem to be moving. It is only fair since it was through my bad decisions that Crael came to us, and Lorna, well, she reminds me so much of you, and I cannot stand knowing her life was cut short because of the mess we all created so many years ago." Hera smiled and threw her arms around his neck, hugging him. He continued on, "As for Nathan, I know that no gods can go through this evolution with them, but I think my blood will help him in some way and not be harmful to him."

Gaia heaved a heavy sigh at that remark saying, "You better be right. I do not want to be you if something happens to that boy. I do believe now that Katia and Selene are coming to terms with their memories, and all their past lives, they are sane enough to castrate you if harm comes to one of their mates."

Grabbing his crotch, Zeus mutters, "What is with the women of your family and castration?"

Gaia waves his question off, knowing he knows full well that the loss of one man's parts is the only thing these gods seem to understand. Gaia is in agreement with Hera, though, that all who are members of these packs and who are not born of their realm should be part of this evolution also. "Hera, I agree with you, and I have some of the newer pack members I wish to speak with. I will wait until the time comes to ensure they are all in a deep sleep and pay visits to the ones I need to speak with. If they have the answer to my questions, I will put them into the same sleep, and they will evolve along with the wolves."

Hera gave her a watery smile and hug while gushing, "Thank you, thank you, Gaia. They all deserve so much. This group has so much to offer and so much love to give. They are not perfect and will make many mistakes, but that is why we are here. I am sure you will continue to guide the twins in their endeavor as goddesses." Hera pauses and gasps, "Wait, the girls are goddesses. They cannot go through the evolution with their mates. They were born of our realm." The tears begin running down her face as her heart breaks for the girls. To be part of such a wonderful prophecy but not be able to see it completed because of who you are.

As Zeus pulls her against his chest and rubs her back to calm her, Gaia tells Hera, "Oh, stop your blubbering! There was a reason I suggested that the two of you gift them with the experience of living in the earthly realm amongst their creations as one of them. They have become a part of both worlds and can assimilate in either environment. So they will be able to survive the changes and still hold onto the powers of the gods."

"Gaia, how long have you been planning this? Are you the author of this newest ancient prophesy?" Hera asked her, shocked at how prepared Mother Earth was for what was about to happen and how everything she had done was leading up to this all these years.

"I have had many years to ponder what I wanted for my beautiful planet and the souls that inhabit it. The first years were very lonely, as it was just me and the dirt. Then, from the sky, I created Uranus. It was nice having someone else for company, and I did not want anyone to find out about loneliness like I had. I contiuned to create all of my children and all the others of our realm. For some reason, Uranus was jealous of them and hated all of my other creations. So I created the earthly realm and humans. When Uranus found out about that he went crazy. He started wars among the humans, hoping they would kill one another. When that did not happen he started famines and sickness, but my humans were resilient."

Zeus added, "So because of his hate for the humans and us, you stopped creating beings and stuck with other things like plants, animals, and so on."

"Yes, but everything needs to evolve, and there needs to be more than one type of species for survival. So I created the twins and had you give them the gift of creation. Uranus hated them not because of what my boys and their father had done to him but because he knew they were of my creation." Gaia educated them correctly on the reason for Uranus' pursuit of the moon goddesses.

Hera sniffled, "Gaia, I am sorry that your bid for love and companionship turned out the way it did. You did not deserve that."

Gaia was grateful for her friend's kind words, but the crying was getting on her nerves. "Hera, are you pregnant? The only time I see you cry is when you are carrying Zeus' child." She got the response she was hoping for. Hera's eyes widened, and the tears stopped as she gasped at the words Gaia said. "No, I am not carrying another child. I just feel things stronger in this realm than in ours."

After that, the three of them sat quietly, listening and watching the little party continue to talk, joke, and laugh late into the night.
