Freya's POV
The following day, I took a break from the crew, packed up, and headed to Quinn Media.
After waiting downstairs for a while, Danny descended from upstairs and greeted me warmly, saying, "Miss Freya, please follow me."
I was a bit perplexed when I saw Danny.
After all, I had only come for a medical checkup. It didn't seem necessary for Danny, the Beta of Alpha Henry, to personally escort me there, right?
Despite my doubts, I refrained from asking too many questions and kept my conversation to a minimum during the journey.
Before long, Danny took me to the hospital where I was scheduled for my medical examination.
It was a private hospital affiliated with the Moonlight Pack, situated quite a distance from the company. The drive took around forty to fifty minutes.
Upon arrival, Danny helped me complete the necessary paperwork, and then I proceeded with the checkup as per the items listed on the form.
The hospital wasn't crowded, and Danny had to attend to a phone call, so I carried on with the medical checklist by myself.
Everything progressed smoothly until, after the examination was completed, the doctor unexpectedly requested a checkup for my wolf. I was taken aback and asked, "Is it really necessary to examine my wolf too?"
The female doctor took a pen and signed her name on the sheet, replying indifferently, "Yes, didn't you come for an artist's medical checkup? Sometimes, in filming, actors may be required to perform in their wolf form, especially during fight scenes. Hence, we need to gather some physical data about your wolf."
I nodded in understanding.
Turning around, I removed my clothes and shifted into my wolf form. My wolf had sapphire eyes and a distinctive feature: she was a pure, flawless white wolf without a single gray or black hair. I never understood why this was the case.
In contrast, all the other wolves in my pack, except for mine, had fur ranging from gray to black or a combination of black and gray-brown.
I used to feel self-conscious about not fitting in, and I once went to my mother to ask why my wolf was the only white one. My mother simply caressed my head and told me that it was a gift from God, representing my uniqueness and special qualities.
After I shifted into my wolf form, I turned to face the doctor.
The female doctor was clearly taken aback by my unique wolf appearance and exclaimed in surprise, " Your wolf is white?"
I nodded, unfazed by her astonished tone. After all, I had grown accustomed to people reacting with surprise or disdain upon seeing my wolf form since I was a child. "Yes, but it shouldn't affect anything."
The female doctor quickly composed herself and said, "It's perfectly fine; your wolf is beautiful."
After jotting something down on a piece of paper, she looked up at me and stated, "That concludes the examination."
Upon hearing these words from the doctor, I instantly reverted to my human form.
Once I was dressed, the doctor handed me the signed medical checkup sheet and said, "You can go now."
"Thank you, Doctor." I took the slip and left.
As I exited the door, I encountered Danny, who was waiting there. To my surprise, Henry was also present, standing next to Danny.
"Miss Freya, how did the checkup go?" Danny inquired, speaking to me with a slightly more cautious respect than before. I hoped I was overthinking it.
I nodded and replied, "Not too bad."
Henry's voice suddenly sounded. "I heard the doctor mention that your wolf is white?"
I paused and looked up at him, detecting a hint of excitement in his eyes. I was a bit puzzled but answered, "Yes, what's the matter?"
Henry smiled, and his eyes had returned to their usual state by now, making me wonder if I had misinterpreted him.
"Nothing, it's alright," he said courteously.
"Danny, please escort Miss Freya back," Henry instructed. I was about to decline when Danny nodded respectfully at Henry and then walked over to me, gesturing for me to follow him.
I had no choice but to leave the hospital with Danny and let him drive me back.
A strange feeling continued to linger in my heart until I reached home.
Whether it was the female doctor, Danny, or Henry, they all appeared surprised by the fact that my wolf was white. However, this surprise differed from the reaction of others whenever they saw my white wolf. At the moment, I couldn't quite pinpoint the distinction.
Just as I was contemplating this, Novia arrived home.
As soon as she stepped in, she exclaimed, "That Tracy! I just want to smack her in the mouth!"
I glanced at her. "What's wrong?"
"She returned to the set today because her assistant went on leave and didn't return. So the director asked me to lend her a hand. Can you believe it? Tracy purposely stepped into a mud puddle to make me clean her shoes!"
Novia had been assisting on the set of a new TV series since her dad's company had recently invested in it.
Tracy's assistant was away on vacation, and the crew intended to assign Tracy to someone else. However, Tracy disliked all of them and specifically requested Novia's help.
Tracy then went out of her way to make things difficult for Novia, apparently because of me.
Novia lost her temper, confronted Tracy, and even threw her shoes off before walking away.
"Well done!" I couldn't help but applaud Novia's bold action.
"That scheming Tracy, what acting skills does she even have?" Novia continued to complaining, "She knows I'm close to you, so she's deliberately targeting me."
I nodded in agreement and, after a moment, said, "Her good days won't last for long."
While Novia went to take a shower, I called Finley. "Finley, I'm ready to start working on my reputation dispute case."
We had gathered enough evidence for the reputation case, giving us a strong chance of winning. I had initially planned to deal with it after settling the lawsuit with Theo.
However, the situation had escalated, so I decided to address it sooner.
I chatted with Finley for a while, and as I was about to hang up, Finley suddenly asked, "Are you and Kingsley okay?"
"We're fine, just I've rejected him," I replied casually.
Finley was clearly taken aback by the news, and it took a moment before I heard his voice break through, "Maybe you need to have a talk to Kingsley. He was unaware of what his mom did."
I paused, then said slowly, "Finley, I'm not rejecting him because of this."
"Then why?"
My fingers involuntarily clenched for a prolonged moment before I finally said, "Just consider it a sign that I no longer have feelings for him."
Finley then stopped probing.
"Finley, there's one more thing. Before the court date, I hope you can keep my information confidential."
"I understand," Finley whispered, "Just take care of yourself."
