Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 46 The Truth Of The Medicine

Ch. 46 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

I had just arrived home, and Sarah was bustling around, cleaning up.

I loosened my tie and surveyed the foyer. Freya's belongings looked almost untouched, just as they were when she had left.

As I was about to head upstairs, Sarah called out to me, "Alpha Kingsley, is Luna Freya still coming tonight? Should I leave the door unlocked for her?"

My fingers curled, and it took a moment for my voice to break through, "Leave it unlocked."

I made my way into the bedroom, where Freya's lingering scent still hung in the air.

I lay down on the bed, which now carried a faint fragrance. My heart ached as I breathed in her scent and thought about her determination at the funeral.

I took out my phone, opened WhatsApp, and edited the message box for a long time, typing, "Will you come back to me, please?"

After hesitating for a while, I finally pressed send.

However, when I saw the message fail to be sent, I froze in place, my heart pounding.

Freya had blocked me.

She had rejected me in every aspect of her life, and it seemed like she was determined to push me out of her life.

It suddenly became difficult to process. My heart continued to race, and my inner wolf whimpered in distress.

Late at night, at the bar.

"How's it going? Did you reach her?" Mark asked from the sidelines.

I tightened my grip on the phone and stared at the black screen, remaining silent.

"It's okay. Keep calling. Maybe she's just busy," Mark encouraged.

I pursed my lips and dialed again, but this time it went straight to voicemail.

Freya had blocked my number either.

"You didn't do what I told you earlier?" Mark asked.

I pressed my lips together. "Before I could say anything, she rejected me and left."

"Rejected?" Mark's eyes widened. "What?! She rejected you?"

I tensed up and fell silent.

Mark looked at me eagerly and exclaimed, "Holy shit! What have you done? You've been rejected by your Luna! You let her slip away like that! Do you realize that once Luna leaves the pack, your pack will gradually decline?"

"This is just temporary!" I emphasized, "And I didn't willingly let her go."

The corner of Mark's mouth twitched as he pointed at me, "Well, you didn't actively make her leave, but now it's your Luna herself who wants to depart from you!"

I pushed his hand away and frowned, "She's just mad at me. How could she possibly want to leave me?"

Mark prodded at my delusions without mercy, "Don't be so sure of yourself! Why wouldn't she want to leave you, an Alpha who always disappears when she needs you?"

He then leaned back on the couch and raised his eyebrows, "I'm telling you, once a woman makes up her mind to leave you, it's hard to win her heart back. From my perspective, for the sake of the pack, you'd better to accept Freya's rejection and find a new mate before it's too late."

I furrowed my brow, suddenly a little annoyed. "Are you serious? I told you she's just mad at me. When she gets over it, she'll come back to me!"

Mark stared at me for a few seconds and pursed his lips, "And what have you done? Have you gone out of your way to make her happy? Did you comfort her when she was sad? You didn't do anything. Instead, you were always confident that Freya would always be there for you and would never leave you. Listen, if you really don't want to lose Freya forever, you need to take some action, okay?"

I opened my mouth, then pursed my lips, and remained silent for a moment.

Mark was right; I hadn't taken any action. I was such a fool.

It took me a while before I finally asked him, "So what should I do now?"

"Well, figure it out for yourself," Mark sipped his tea, "At the very least, you need to show her that you really care about her."

I fell silent.

The next day, I sat in my office, gazing out the window. My mind kept returning to the day Freya left, her eyes brimming with tears and an indescribable ache in my heart.

A knock at the door snapped me back to reality. I faintly uttered, "Come in."

Jeremy rushed in, saying, "Alpha Kingsley, I've got the results on what you asked me to investigate."

He unfolded a list of medications and placed it before me. "This list of medicines is identical to what we checked initially. Your mother did indeed purchase these medications."

I furrowed my brow. So, there was nothing wrong with the medicine?

Then why was Freya so angry?

"However, during my investigation, I discovered something else," Jeremy continued.

I looked up at him.

"Your aunt also obtain the medication from this pharmacy, so I requested her prescription as well."

He produced another piece of paper and placed it in front of me, his expression solemn. "Upon examination, the drugs listed here are mostly the same as those on your mother's prescription, but..." Jeremy paused and regarded me cautiously.

An uneasy feeling crept over me. "But what?"

"It's just that there's the wolfsbane in it," he stated.

I was stunned slightly. "You mean my mom altered the medication?"

Jeremy glanced at me and carefully inquired, "Alpha Kingsley, how did your mother treat Luna Freya before?"

I was taken aback for a moment.

It was evident that my mother hadn't treated Freya kindly.

When I had chosen Freya as my mate, my mother had strongly opposed it. She believed that Freya, hailing from a smaller pack, couldn't help me manage our pack effectively and that her pack couldn't provide substantial support for my future as the Lycan King.

In short, my mother had many grievances against Freya.

It wasn't until I publicly announced that Freya needed to strengthen her body that my mother had a sudden change of heart.

She sent people to deliver medicines and wholeheartedly wished for Freya to conceive a child.

I pursed my lips. My mother had indeed exhibited a strange shift in attitude.

Could she genuinely expect Freya to get pregnant if she didn't like her?

As I pondered this, a shiver ran down my spine.

I clutched the medication list and said firmly, "Go back to the hospital and conduct a thorough investigate to figure out why Freya fainted that day."

"Got it."
