Molly
My heart is broken, completely and utterly shattered! How could he do that to me? I know that this could be all made up and just some random woman trying her luck but only a few people knew about Archie's life insurance and aside from that there was a picture amongst the papers, a photo of a little girl and she was the mirror image of my late husband.
"Molly, sweetheart look at me." Tom's voice drags my mind back into the room. for a split second, I wondered if he knew about this but I saw how sincere he was when he answered me, and in all honestly, I know that Tom wouldn't do that to me, he wouldn't keep a secret like that from anyone or for anyone, not even his best friend.
"I'm going to go for a walk." I take the papers from Tom and place them back in the thick brown envelope as I turn to head for the door only I end up bumping into a pissed-looking Christian. "Shit, sorry! I'm just going to take a small walk and then I will be back for my stuff. It's all packed up and if you need to take it out of the room before I'm back then that's fine." He doesn't say a word just stares at me with a strange expression on his face before making room for me to pass him.
"Want me to come with you baby girl" I face Tom giving him my best smile all while more tears are threatening to spill out. " I'll be ok honey. You stay here and help Christian. He needs you. I won't be long." He gives me a nod but I know that he doesn't believe me.
Before any more can be said I leave the house and start walking. I dont know where I'm going but I just need an out. if I had stayed there any longer I know that I wouldn't have been able to control my tears anymore.
Im so consumed by my thoughts instead of my surroundings that I quickly realize that I'm out in the woods and have no idea of where I am. Shit! usually, I'm always very aware of my surroundings. One because I have an awful memory and have been known to get myself lost more than once, and two because this is a new area and I need to learn my way around here.
Well, I did but after this morning, well I think I need to get out of here maybe head to New York. My business is based there so maybe it's the perfect place to start over. I'm gonna miss Tom, I'm going to miss all of them.
Well everyone except for Christian that is. That guy... he... Jesus, he drives me up the wall, and yet there's something about him. I don't know what it is but something feels different when it comes to him. I know that I dont think the same about him as I do the others but for the life of me, I can't figure out what it is other than him annoying me more than anyone has ever before.
I come to a sharp stop when I reach a river and pray with all I have that it's the normal river that I visit regularly. I decide to follow the river along and hope that my surroundings start to familiarise soon or I'm pretty screwed. I dont even have my phone on me to call Tom for help. Great!
Christian
Watching Molly so sad physically hurt me and letting her go for a walk alone knowing how upset she is was hard. When she said she would pack her stuff and find somewhere else to stay, I wanted to tell her not to do that. I wanted to tell her to stay, I dont know why I felt like that considering my behavior towards her but I didn't say a word and just now when she said about being back for her stuff soon I got the same urge but again I don't understand why and so I choose to stay quiet about it just as I had earlier.
"What the fuck just happened?" Callum grunts out while Tom just continues to stare at the closed door that Molly just walked through.
"Did you know about this son, really?" My Dad's voice breaks through the awkwardness that I'm pretty sure everyone is feeling right now with not knowing what to do. "No Dad, I swear I had no idea. I wouldn't have agreed with it and if I had known and he didn't tell Molly then I would have."
It's clear to see that Tom is telling the truth and I dont think anyone in this room right now doubts his words even for a second. He's too good of a person to act that way. "I believe you son. Ok, I understand everyone's concerns over Molly but right now I think that it's best that we leave her to have some time alone to work through this and when she comes back we will help her in whatever way she needs."
Everyone nods their heads agreeing with him including me even if I dont have a clue about what's going on in my head anymore. "Ok, until that time comes we need to keep moving forward with our plans for today and getting my Grandbabies here permanently, where they belong!" My Dads' words make me smile and above all else make me proud as hell to have him as my dad.
“It’s looking good in here brother.” Tom's voice echoes around the almost empty room as he comes inside. “You think? I wanted it to work for all of them.” I’ve gone with blue walls on one half of the room and pink on the other half. I’ve also got some large dinosaur and paw patrol stickers to go on Brody’s walls and princesses and animal stickers for the girl's walls.
“Yeah, it’s going to look great once everything’s finished.”
“Wait is it 12 already?” Tom nods yes while looking around the room once more. “We’ll that’s gone quick. “Don’t worry Chris, it will all get done in time. The painting takes the longest. Where’s Callum?”
“He’s gone into town for me. I ordered some curtains, a lamp and light shade, new beds, a cot and chest of draws for in here, and new bedding for them all. He’s gone to pick them up with Jack.” Luckily for me, Mum insisted on new flooring in here just a few months ago when she turned it into a guest room so that’s already taken care of.
“Nice! Use those two for the muscle work. I like it.” He gives me his famous Tom grin and wink making me chuckle to myself. “We’ll I knew your talents would be better used in the decorating part of this.” It’s a lie and we both know it Tom is one of the strongest amongst my brothers with his years in the army. “Oh absolutely darling. Now, throw me those princess stickers, and let’s get to work!”
As we work to finish the walls before the others get back with the furniture my mind drifts to Molly, all I can see is her face this morning and her look of complete and utter heartbreak once again causing an unsettling feeling to creep inside of me.
Thinking of Molly makes me realize that she’s been out for her walk for almost 3 hours and I have to admit it’s starting to worry me a little. “Tom, have you heard from Molly?” I try to sound casual but I don’t think it comes out that way.
Tom looks across the room at me and lets out a deep sigh. “No, I haven’t but I’m starting to worry a little. I tried calling her too but she’s left her phone here. If she’s not back by the time the boys get back then I’ll go look for her she’s properly by the river.” Yeah, he’s prop right there, she loves that river but still, the idea of her not having her phone doesn’t sit right with me.
“Chris! Tom!” Hunter's voice cuts through my train of thought as he bellows out our names. What the hell?
“Upstairs!” Tom shouts back looking just as confused as me. “Why all the yelling?” I shrug my answer just as Hunter appears at the bedroom door looking out of breath and worried instantly having me on edge.
“What’s wrong?” He takes a moment to catch his breath, finally getting his words out. “There's a Tornado heading our way soon. It wasn’t picked up until it got closer than liked and the alarms are already sounding in town.”
“Fuck Mom and Dad are out with the kids!” I’m instantly panicking and I swear I’ve never felt this scared in my entire life! Fuck... Molly!
