Oblivious of a third person’s presence, the two people in the room was not aware of Damon even until he left.
Andrei still had Anya in his arms.
“Come, I’ll take you home, let’s go back home,” Andrei whispered to Anya’s ear.
This was the moment Anya finally woke up from her stunned phase. Even though Anya saw everything just now and Andrei was even facing her with a wound and a bruise, strangely, Anya still felt uncomfortable.
“N,no, I, I want to go to Marie,” Anya said still quite light headed as she got up from Andrei’s embrace.
Andrei immediately knitted his brows.
“Anya,” He said in a disagreeing voice.
Anya heard this and looked at Andrei firmly.
“Andrei, please, I am not comfortable being with any men right now, so if you want, just send me to Marie,” She said.
Andrei looked at Anya’s determined and intense stare, and as to avoid suspicion, he finally resigned.
“Alright,” He said in a sigh.
He supported Anya out of the hotel and into his car.
When they arrived at Marie’s house, Andrei looked Anya once again.
“Sweetheart, are you sure your alright here?” He asked as he tried to hold her hand. Anya felt an uneasy feeling when his hand felt her own.
“Yes, uhm, let’s talk another time, I am not feeling well,” She answered stiffly and exhausted. She slipped out of Andrei’s hold and went out of the car.
She only gave him last glance as she saw him also walked out of the car.
When Anya hit the door bell, the door opened and it revealed Marie in a robe.
“Hey,” She greeted but was dragged on when her sight passed by Anya and saw Andrei behind her.
“What is he doing here?” Marie immediately became vile.
“He just dropped me off here,” Anya explained lightly as she tried to hold Marie. Marie then raised her brows to her best friend.
“Really? What is going on here?” She asked as she narrowed her eyes at Anya.
“Marie, let’s get inside first.” Anya pushed Marie inside the house. Marie can only look at Andrei meanly and closed the door.
Andrei stood in front of his car as he watched them get inside the house. His face was not well as he thought if he did something wrong. His plan was perfect. His wife should be very touched right now.
He then sighed as he comforted himself that Anya might be in shock right now and needed time. Let’s be patient.
He turned back to enter his car and drive away.
“Now tell me what happened.” Marie immediately started as they sat. Anya let out a heavy breath as she narrated the entire story to Marie.
After listening to the story, Marie had a hard time to find anything to say. “What do you think?” Marie decided to ask Anya herself.
Anya had been pondering over this in the beginning. Because something feels weird. Everything feels weird.
Especially that man.
She did not recognize him but he felt familiar. When she woke up again and saw Andrei inside the room fighting with him, her initial familiarity went strong.
And she felt he was one of Andrei men.
Because the moment she saw Andrei, she could connect them together. “I feel like that man was familiar,” She answered.
Marie was surprised.
“You knew that guy? We should report him!” She insisted.
Anya sighed with that. She doesn’t want to bother. The times she tried to report everything she went through was no less. But it was either brushed off, or covered by powerful people.
She could only chuckle bitterly. Because this is the reality. In this world, not all bad people get redemption like we see in movies. They get away and still live happily like nothing happened. It is always the victim that is left with the scar.
So, reporting this incident, and if her assumptions are right, will just still be futile. “I feel like his one of Andrei’s men.” Anya said to Marie.
When her friend her this, she immediately got worked up.
“What?!” Marie exclaimed as she got up abruptly. Anya hurriedly held her hand. “Marie, calm down. I am not that sure either.” Anya said, then she added.
“But there is something I am sure of.” Anya had determination in her eyes. “I will never believe Andrei ever again.”
Anya was not stupid. What Andrei did can never be fixed with just this situation. So, if ever it is true, then Anya will continue with her life, alone.
Their relationship can never be repaired.
Meanwhile, a man was drowning his sorrows with wine.
Damon sat in one of the couches of a high end bar, downing glass after glass of wine. In the table, there was already several empty bottles of liquor.
He really had gotten insane. Look at him pathetically drinking his sorrows away with alcohol.
Damon thought as he drunk another shot.
Veronica got a hold of Damon’s location. She felt anxious when Amanda told her that Damon left abruptly. She thought he went to find Anya so he alerted Andrei. But he told her he did not show up. So Veronica calmed down and did her best to know where he was.
Not long after, she found he was drinking here at the bar. When she saw his state, a triumphant smile came across her lips.
Looks like its mission accomplished.
She thought. A man in sorrow and a woman to comfort him was the perfect situation. She needed to grab this opportunity as soon as possible.
With that, Veronica marched towards Damon’s table and immediately tended to the man.
“Damon, what’s wrong?” She said while masking her voice with worry and softness as she caressed his face.
Damon was sitting in the sofa with his head resting back in the sofa’s backrest. He felt a cold touch in his face and he opened his eyes.
Veronica saw Damon opening his eyes and she smiled as she went closer.
“Damon,” She whispered softly as her lips slowly neared his. But before she could even take advantage, she was immediately pushed away by the man.
“What are you doing here?” Damon asked coldly as he gave a chilling glance at the woman.
Veronica was at a loss.
“Damon, I, I am here to take care of you. Look at the state you’re in! what happened?” She asked with a fake gentleness and caring voice.
Damon looked away and just picked his cup back for a drink.
“Is this because of Anya?” Veronica finally could not help it. She needs to take this opportunity to throw mud at Anya.
Damon froze. Veronica saw this and continued.
“I already warned you about what kind of woman she is.” Veronica said solemnly. But inside, she was cheering. She thought she was finally guiding Damon to see Anya in a bad light.
“She is a slut-“ But Damon cut her off, much to her surprise. Turned out, what she did only made Damon suspicious of her.
“How did you know this?” Damon asked in low voice, without looking at Veronica. Veronica was taken a back, but she immediately tried to recover.
“W,well, who could make you like this aside from that woman? That woman is a witch bewitching-“
“Leave,”
Damon cut off her words ruthlessly.
Veronica chose the wrong person to fool. Damon was not stupid. He won’t be the youngest business tycoon to start with if he could easily be deceived like this. Even when drunk, he still had sharp senses.
Damon gave a fierce look at Veronica.
“Leave. I won’t say it thrice.” He said with a dominating voice.
Veronica shivered. What did she do wrong? Shoot. How could she mess up? But her thoughts were cut off when she saw Damon’s face darkened more.
She could only stand unstably, still looking at the man longingly.
Damon did not pay her any mind anymore as he signaled to his men.
He took a sip in his glass lazily but with dangerous eyes staring straight. His black-suited men went to Veronica to escort her out.
No one could fool the boss tonight.
