Amanda immediately headed to Damon. She planned to straighten out this son of hers.
When she arrived, she went straight to Damon's office. The employees she passed by all bowed in respect, and no one tried to stop her as she went directly to the president's office.
Damon was in his office typing on his laptop. The sudden entrance at his door caused him to raise his head. He saw his mother marching towards him.
He sighed. Well, he expected this already.
"Damon, what did you do?!" Amanda started as she stared intensely at her son. "Good morning, too, Mother," Damon said nonchalantly.
"Oh, don't use that on me. How do you expect me to greet you nicely after what you have done? You broke a long-time business relationship with a close family friend!" Amanda huffed as she reprimanded her son.
Damon only kept silent and watched his mother.
"How could you do that? Ambrosia and Castellano have been associates for a whole generation. You can't break it that easily!" Amanda reasoned with Damon. Seeing that Damon was only keeping silent, she became even angrier.
"Answer me. Is it because of a woman?" She pushed. She then saw Damon freeze a bit. Amanda smirked and looked at her son strictly.
"Well, let me tell you, I won't let a divorced woman enter my family!" She exclaimed at her son.
Damon gritted his teeth and finally voiced out.
"My marriage is none of your business." He said coldly. Amanda was shocked by Damon's insolence.
"You can even defy your mother now! How could you do this to me? You have been bewitched by that whore so much you already think your mother's dead!" Amanda angrily nagged at Damon.
Damon sighed as he massaged his temples. He was only making his mother dislike Anya more. He pondered and finally said.
"What I did is just a warning for Ambrosia. They are becoming too full of their selves. And I already told you not to push me to Ms. Ambrosia." Damon said stiffly.
Amanda heard this and rebuked.
"Just because of that, you will let go of a business associate?! Are you ruining your career?!"
"Mom, our cooperation with them is meaningless. I don't need their scraps." Damon rolled his eyes. He can fend off without the Ambrosia. They don't affect the company one bit. So he does not need to hesitate whenever he wants to cut ties with them.
"Damon! How could you act like that? A relationship and trust between associates are not easily built! You can't just throw it away!"
Damon only kept silent as he sighed exasperatedly.
"And now look what happened. George was rushed to the hospital because of a heart attack! He was shocked by what you did; his heart did not take it!" Amanda added. Damon heard this and raised his eyebrows. Did the president be affected this much?
Amanda saw a change in her son's expression, so she pushed more. "Look at your actions. Don't be so impulsive!"
Damon let out a breath. He also does not want to be branded as someone's cause of death. Unnecessary issues are just a pain in the ass, and his competitors might use these exaggeratedly to use it against him.
So in consideration to the president of Ambrosia, who was still lying in the hospital right now, he gave in.
"Fine, I will make my decision later. They better fix their ways and convince me not to continue the termination. This is all I could do for you." He said to his mother.
Amanda sighed in relief. Damon glanced at his mother's eased expression and added.
"This also goes to their only heiress. I don't want unnecessary drama for her." Damon leaned back in his chair and stared squarely at his mother.
Amanda stopped at his words. She watched her son and smirked. "Why, is it because of that woman, Anya?" She mocked.
Damon's face hardened.
"Are you that foolish to fall for that whore? You-"Before she could finish, he was cut off by Damon's cold voice.
"Mom," Damon raised his head to stare at his mother with the eyes of a boss.
"I don't need you to tell me how to live my life and how I should see people. Even if considered this matter and even if Ambrosia is a long-time friend, I am still the boss." Damon crossed his leg and sat condescendingly in his seat.
Amanda froze as she watched the son she raised to become someone so powerful he doesn't fear nor feel the need to take account of anyone. He looked like that person, or better yet, the one he always aspired to be but did not achieve. His son instead took it.
"I have the final say. Every decision is from me and doesn't need to be questioned. This does not involve anyone or anything. I know what I am doing and am good at it." Damon added arrogantly.
"So you don't need to worry, Mom." Damon held a hint of sarcasm in his voice. Amanda pursed her lips.
"Then do things that I won't be worried and concerned about," She answered calmly.
"Well, I am going; go back to work." Amanda dismissed as she escaped the expansive room.
Damon stared at his mother's departing back and sneered. His heart turned cold as he felt this way once again.
He wanted to calm himself as he remembered the dark times he had experienced before he got to where he is now. And still, people think he needed to owe everyone for what he possesses.
Tch. Such bullshit.
A call woke him up, and when he saw the caller, he felt it was just in time.
He accepted the video call, and his son's crisp and cute voice echoed throughout the office.
"Daddy!" Allen greeted as she clamped the camera to his face; he was almost kissing it. Damon laughed at his foolishness and felt his heavy heart ease a lot.
"Hey, son." Damon smiled gently at his son.
"Daddy, gift!" The little boy said as he showed him something. He was having a hard time, so his nanny took over the camera.
Allen showed Damon a clay vaguely formed into a person and a heart. Damon's heart also warmed as he so this.
"Is that for me? That's amazing big boy, thank you." Damon smiled at his son. "Monmon gift to Daddy!" The child was delighted by the praise.
"I want Mommy also, but Monmon do not know; I need to see her!" Allen said as he stared happily.
Damon heard this and chuckled.
"You want to see Mommy?" He asked his son, amused. "Yes!" Allen answered enthusiastically.
Damon's smile deepened as he also stared at his son and answered. "Soon,"
