After Damon had warned Veronica, he left and wanted to go to his mother next. He needed to sort this out with her. But when he arrived, he didn’t expect someone would be even faster than him.
He watches as Veronica cried at his mother’s shoulder as he strides inside the mansion.
“Ms. Ambrosia is so diligent.” Damon sarcastically noted. He was really getting sick of this woman.
The two women heard this and turned to him. when Amanda saw him, she immediately fired up.
“Damon! How could you humiliate Veronica in front of so many people! I didn’t raise you that way!” She immediately scolded.
When Damon heard this, he was already irritated.
“Mother, I have already warned her many times. I am not that lenient, if that’s what you think.” He said to Amanda with an impatient voice.
Amanda stood up, clearly worked up.
“And do you really need to humiliate a woman? And specifically, Veronica? Do you still have, me, your mother, in your eyes?!”
Damon sighed helplessly at his mother.
“Mom, I already told you what my decision is. Don’t you also put me in your eyes?” He can’t help but retort.
Amanda nearly choked with her breath. She couldn’t refute his words but she couldn’t also accept him taking that woman from the slums into their family.
“Son I am saying this because that woman is bewitching you! Do you even know where she is from? And she is a divorcee! How could you settle for less with such a woman?!” Amanda instead tried to convince Damon about how bad that woman is for him.
When Damon heard this, his heart tightened and brows furrowed. Anger was eminent in his face. He didn’t like anyone insulting Anya, and from his own mother at most.
“Mom, don’t talk about Anya that way. You don’t even know her.” He said coldly and sternly as his dark eyes bore towards his mother.
Amanda was taken aback. She did not expect Damon would be this smitten for a woman!
“It is you who is bewitched by this woman! Don’t believe whatever she says. She is as shameless as what you are enunciating right now.” Damon added as he pointed at Veronica. He really was not very disgusted at her. It is because of her that his mother would have such opinion at Anya.
Veronica felt Damon’s enmity and can’t help but shudder. Under his hateful eyes, she was helpless and tears started pouring out her eyes again.
Amanda saw this and immediately reprimanded her son.
“Don’t talk to her that way! Veronica is the woman I chose as my daughter in law! She is from a good family and someone we really know. Only she is a perfect match for you. Son, open your eyes!” Amanda persuaded Damon with heavy words.
Damon felt his temples throb with his mother’s persistence. He massaged his temple as he problematically shut his eyes.
“Is that why you did those things? Mom, I know what you did. And all I could say is that you don’t need to meddle with my matters. I’m not a child anymore and I have my own decisions.” He said helplessly. He really found arguing with his mom a pain in the ass. He respected her, but if she continued to push his button, then he won’t hold back.
Amanda heard this and was dissatisfied. She dramatically looked at his son.
“You can even say that to your mother now. What did that say and feed you? For you to talk this way?!”
With this, a huge quarrel occurred. The servants of the mansion were all silent as they watched their masters argue.
Veronica on the sidelines, although was afraid, but she was cheering inside. With this conflict happening because of that Anya, then Amanda would be even more dissatisfied with her. Damon might even think it is such a hassle having that woman beside him.
Veronica smirked silently with her head low. Amanda continued exclaiming.
“I won’t let that woman from unknown origins enter our family and dirty our reputation. She is just a lowly woman, I won’t agree to this!” She held conviction in her voice as he stared stubbornly at Damon.
Damon’s eyes darkened even more.
“No one can dictate my life, not even you mother. And also, I am the head of the Castellanos, what I do with my life, is my say.” He said imposingly, completely with the aura of the Boss of Castellanos.
Amanda was taken aback. Her eyes widened as she stared incredulously at her son, who was ow big and powerful, that she can no longer control him. She felt dread.
‘No. That can’t be.’
Amanda suddenly saw the shadow of that man in her own son. The complete domineering and rigid Castellano.
She placed her hand on her chest as she struggled to breathe.
“You, you can even say that to me now. I-“ Amanda staggered. Damon knitted his brows as he saw her mother’s state.
“Aunt!” Veronica exclaimed as she saw Amanda almost collapse.
“Mother!” Damon rushed to his mother to catch her. When he saw she fainted, he gritted his teeth and ordered loudly.
“Someone, prepare the car!” He carried his mom as he made his way out of the mansion. He entered the car and directly told the driver to go to the hospital.
When they arrived, Amanda as immediately placed in a stretcher and it entered the emergency room. Damon could only stare at them, his chest raising and falling from the rush.
Because of the urgency of the situation, he did not notice that Veronica came along with them.
Veronica dramatically exclaimed at the side.
“Poor Aunt! what will happen to her?” She lamented with tears in her eyes. Damon turned to her with a glare.
Veronica saw this and even if she felt shiver down her spine, she still can’t help but say,
“Damon could you really bare for this situation to happen? Look at what happened to Aunt? Just because of that Anya, you would anger Aunt to death?” She said with sorrowful eyes and voice.
Damon clenched his hands as he looked deadly at the woman. If looks could kill, Veronica would be in a funeral by now.
But Damon can’t deny that he really angered his mother so much this time. He sighed as he looked at the door.
His face darkened as he tuned around, not bothering to answer and spare a last glance at Veronica before leaving.
Veronica was frozen at first by Damon’s intensely deathly glare. But as she saw him helplessly sigh and leave, she only stared at his receding, tall back.
A smile slowly crept on her face.
