The days flew normal, but for Damon, it was too fast. Not long, the designing of their son’s room was finished. Damon was conflicted if he should be happy or not. After this, there will be little reason to meet Anya.
However, the day would still arrive, so when it did, Damon took the chance to invite Anya to personally see and check the room she designed.
When he called her, it was picked up after a few rings. “Hello,” The person in the other line greeted.
Damon was pleased to hear her voice again.
“Hey, the room is done, want to personally check it?” He immediately pointed out.
Anya on the other end was immediately tempted. She wanted to see the room she carefully designed for her son too, but today was not a good day.
“I would really love too. But today, the hospital called me about my grandmother. I need to go right now.” She said sadly.
Damon said the melancholic voice on the other end, and his heart also ached. He sighed softly.
“No problem, you can always come anytime. You’re welcome in our home,” He tacitly said.
Anya heard these words again and she felt weird in her heart.
He seriously needs to stop saying words the people might misunderstand. Anya thought with blushing cheeks.
“Okay. Thank you very much Mr. Castellano,” Anya answered stiffly because of her words.
Damon chuckled in the other line. Sooner or later, she will accept these words.
When Anya arrived at the hospital, she was stunned when she saw the person she just talked in the phone a while ago is standing in front of her.
Looking at Anya’s inquiring eyes, Damon felt a bit of embarrassment. When he knew that Anya was called to the hospital, he thought something had happened to Grandma Laurier. So after pondering for a while, he decided to go to the hospital too. But faced with Anya’s bewilderment, he realized his actions might be too excessive, so he thought for a good excuse.
He cleared his throat and spoke up.
“Well, if you haven’t known, this hospital is one of the Castellanos. Your grandmother is a key patient in our company, so I felt like I should check. Anyway, we are not strangers too, so I see nothing wrong for checking.”
Damon nearly punched himself for sounding so defensive, but he already said it so he could only bite his tongue.
When Anya heard this, she felt shy. He doesn’t need to explain himself actually. And she didn’t know his power stretched till the medical field, so she was once again in awe of the man.
“Is that so, thank you.” Anya could only respond and smile at the man.
Damon saw her gentle smile and breath a sigh of relief. Great, he was still not regarded as a weirdo.
Anya led the way to grandma Laurier room. When she opened the door, her grandma immediately turned to them. the old woman’s eyes brightened.
“Anya, and, Damon!” Grandma happily greeted.
Anya was quite surprised. Her grandmother knew Damon? She turned to the man.
Damon also felt Anya’s inquiring gaze, but he thickened hi face and greeted Grandma Laurier.
“Grandma, good morning.”
Anya raised her brows at this. So they were also in the name-and-grandma basis?
“Oh you handsome man, you still remembered this old one. Come, come the two of you. Let grandma take a closer look,” The woman urged them.
Anya could only smile and greet the woman while coming over. Damon also followed.
“Grandma, I see you have met Mr. Castellano,” Anya said with a kind of stiff smile, hinting at her grandma.
Grandma did no take the hint and happily praised Damon.
“Oh, this thoughtful fellow, he never forget to send things and check up on me. I received the health supplements and fruits you sent last time. I have never tasted fruits so fresh and sweet! Thank you so much, child.” Grandma exclaimed, very much like talking with her grandchild.
Anya felt problematic with her grandmother’s actions and words to this big boss, but she was surprised with what she said.
Turns out Damon had done so much for her grandma? Was he also the reason why the sudden meticulous attention of the doctors these days?
Anya thought deeply, while Damon was happy with grandma’s words. He likes taking care and having the good opinion from people close to the woman he likes.
“Grandma, this is nothing. I hope you were feeling great these days,” He respectfully said.
The old woman was happy that she talked and chatted with Damon more.
Anya felt the situation is turning weird. Her the granddaughter was unexpectedly pushed aside. Who was her grandmother’s real grandchild?
Even with these thoughts, Damon and Grandma Laurier chatted with a good atmosphere.
After a while, Anya was called by the doctor. Damon decided to come along to know Grandma Collin’s condition so she followed Anya out. It was also time for grandma’s rest time, so they did not disturb her any further.
Anya and Damon walked out of the room and followed the doctor to his office.
“Grandma Laurier’ is critically ill right now. We had done some procedures, but recuperation is critical because of her old age. She needs to be transferred to the
special ward and receive meticulous care.” These were the doctor’s words the moment they sat down.
Anya froze. Her heart thumped with nervousness. Her Grandmother was critically ill! Remembering Grandma Laurier’ happy face every time she visits, she knew the old woman tried to hide her pain to her again.
Anya felt her tears welled as her heart clenched with pain. When suddenly, a large warm hand held hers tightly. She looked up to see Damon’s face.
Damon had felt Anya’s agony and held her hand. He gave her a reassuring expression and turned to the doctor.
“Doctor, arrange for Grandma Laurier’ to transfer in the best ward. I also want the best team of doctors to monitor her condition. She is a key patient to our hospital, and I want her recovery to be successful.” Damon gave out his words and the doctor tactfully nodded his head. He called a nurse to give out the instructions.
It was happening to fast the Anya was late to process it all. When she final absorbed everything, she turned to Damon.
She anxiously bit her lips. She badly needs help, but it was not Damon’s obligation. Damon had done so much for her that she doesn’t know how to thank him.
Damon understood Anya’s expression just by looking at her. He once again assured her.
“It is a hospital’s job to take care and heal the sick. You don’t need to feel burdened.” His face was gentle and dignified. Anya understood how he was so successful in his field. He had the aura and charm in him the makes people believe in him. He is also very dedicated to his work and goals that people can’t help but give their trust in him.
Anya’s heard this and was touched. She was very, sincerely, thankful.
“You have done so much for me. I don’t know how to thank you.” She said softly.
Damon was feeling happy, but at the same time, sad to hear her feeling that way. She always felt she needs to give something in return in everything she receives. One can only ponder what environment had molded her to this. But he knew it was hard.
“Silly. Don’t think too much. You have someone who you could turn too and is capable. You have nothing to worry about.” He said in a joking and shameless way.
Anya chuckled with tears in her eyes. Even if he said it this way, she knew the underlying meaning¬-
