Damon helped Anya out of bed. When Anya tried to walk, her feet felt numb because of fear and nervousness, and she almost lost her balance. Damon immediately caught her. He saw her state and, without hesitation, scooped her up from the ground and carried her in his arms.
Anya felt the stiff muscles of his arms beneath her legs and back. She felt embarrassed but did not have enough energy to struggle anymore. She just hid her face in his chest.
Damon looked at the woman in his arms and tucked him comfortably in his embrace as he left the hotel room.
Leaving the unconscious Andrei sprawled on the floor with no care.
Damon walked out of the hotel with Anya in his arms. The employees at the hotel watched in awe as a tall and imposing man walked out carrying a woman. They knew the man's identity was powerful as he slid into the luxurious car parked outside. His aura also contains majesty that cannot be ignored.
The majestic man gently and carefully placed Anya in the passenger seat. He then turned around to get in the driver's seat and drove away. He headed towards Anya's apartment. He wanted to take her to his home to let her be checked, but he did not want
to scare her anymore. She had had enough men taking her to an unknown place; all he wanted was for her to rest.
Went they arrived, he once again carried Anya toward her apartment.
When they entered, he gently put her on the bed. He saw that Anya's eyes were closed, so he caressed her hair and planned to leave.
When suddenly, a white and soft hand clutch his shirt. He looked back and saw the woman holding on to him with closed eyes.
Damon felt heartache as he saw her pitiful state. He sighed and went back to sit on the bed. He leaned and caressed her face.
"Anya, live with me." He suddenly dropped.
Anya was surprised, so she opened her eyes. She stared at the face of the man before her. She did not know why she stopped him from leaving, but she remembered he was the father of her child.
He was the one who took her for surrogacy.
Does he know? Is he doing all of these because of that?
No matter what, the man was the one who saved her. She needed to thank him.
"Thank you for saving me." She said softly. Damon heard this, and his heart warmed.
"You are not safe; come live at my house, and I will protect you," He offered. Anya remembered her son and felt this was an excellent offer, but she shook it away. She reminded herself that she had already accepted that she could not be part of her child's life. It was already enough that she knew him. That he was healthy and growing well.
Tears threatened to swell in her eyes, but she tried her best to push them back. "I can't." She answered.
Damon was disappointed.
"Why not?" He asked as he caressed her hair.
"I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. I just want to protect you." He said gently.
Anya stared at the wonderful man in front of her. It was unbelievable to say that this man was pursuing her. But no matter how she looked at it, she did not deserve such a great man. A divorced woman went into surrogacy and gave away her child. She smiled bitterly.
"What about your fiancé?" She said.
Damon wrinkled his brows as he heard these words again.
"I already told you I don't have a fiancé." He said with a firm voice. Anya sighed at this line.
"But your mother wants her to." She said. When they got to know each other, she asked countless times why Veronica would say that she was his fiancé. Then he finally revealed it was his mother's arrangement. Although he said this would not make them do anything he did not want, Anya still felt it was his mother. There was no way she would not be able to influence him. and also, her mother liked Veronica, and the look she gave at Anya at the party still haunted her.
She had enough people hating her. She could not accept the wrath of his mother and Veronica. Anyway, she thinks this is just Damon's pastime. He would not be seriously interested in her. He just wanted to care for and help the mother of his child. Sooner or later, he would get tired. How could a great man like him stoop lowly to a woman like her?
So before Damon could refute what she had already said.
"You know my stance on this already. You don't need to offer me a place to stay. I will try my best to be careful and protect myself next time. I just want to thank you for today." She said quietly.
Damon understood Anya needed time to trust people. So she accepted what Anya said. "Alright, but if you need it, remember my offer will always stand." He said sincerely.
Anya smiled and did not respond anymore. The unrest and the troubles of the day finally took a toll on her, and her eyelids started to droop. Damon saw this, and he gently caressed her head once again. Not long after, he heard her even breathe and her peaceful sleeping face.
He patted her once more and placed his hand on the bed when he felt some soft cloth under it. He took it and looked at it closely.
And he saw the very same mitten his son was always wearing.
The mitten was placed near her pillow, it looked like something she held dear when she entered dreamland.
Damon smiled gently as he held the mitten for a moment. It also contained the name of his son, Allen. She was the one who decided their son's name carefully.
Warmth surged through Damon's heart as he once again saw the innocence and purity of Anya's heart. It was full of love. Even though the child can be said to be the start of her misery, she still loved and held him close to her heart.
He finally confirmed that she did not hate the child, but loved him dearly. It made him more inspired for them to get to know him properly and form a mother-and-son bond.
He brought the mitten close to his lips and gave it to the same woman in front of him, always kissing a gentle kiss, where he felt.
"You chose a wonderful name for our son."
