Chapter 20 Sleeping with the director
Lana's POV
I arrived home angrily and rushed to her room, destroying everything on her part.
"How dare she!" I screamed, dragging my hair frustratingly. I flung my purse to the ground yelling angrily.
I had never thought Rachel would recover from everything so soon, even to the point of getting a part in the show I had worked so hard before I could get a part in.
This was so frustrating!
"Damn that Rachel!"
That bitch just keeps trying to get on my nerves.
"Oh my... Lana, what..." Martha walked into my room, her eyes widened, and her hand moved to cover her mouth in shock.
"Mother?" I sharply turned to see her mother's surprised expression.
' Why is she here so early? ' I thought trying to plant a fake smile on my face.
"What have you done to your room?" She exclaimed looking around my room.
"Mother... I... It's, er..."
What was I supposed to say? My hands hug in the air in shock.
My mother's expression suddenly softened, and she saw the streaks of tears on my face.
"What happened to you?" She said walking towards me.
"Mother... Mum..." I broke into tears to make my mother feel even more sorry for me.
An idea flew into my head and I immediately began to utilize it.
"Oh, my sweet child."
"What happened? Tell mummy, I can help I would". I shook my head softly, sniffing to hold her tears, or at least pretend as if I holding it.
"It's nothing... I don't want to cause any more rift between you and your daughter..." I said softly, and I saw Martha's eyes widen.
"My daughter? Is it Rachel? What did she do again this time? " Martha shouted in anger.
"No, I... Don't get angry at sister Rachel, it's not her fault...it's just..." My sobs intensified.
"Tell me... If Rachel has done something, she must pay for it... Tell me, my child." Martha said angrily, her anger directed at Rachel and Rachel alone.
Oh, this is good.
I sniffled. "Sister... She... The new show I just got cast on, I saw her... I caught her sleeping with the director so she could get a part as well... I"
Martha's hands flew to her mouth.
"Rachel did that!" Her chest heaved up and down in anger.
I moved away from my mum so she could see the expression on my face.
A smile came to my face when I saw that my plan was working, but I quickly covered it up with her hands before my mother could see and started sobbing again.
"I caught both of them together... But then she threatened to destroy me, she said she'd make the director kick me out of the show, mum... I don't know what to do." My shoulders shook as she sobbed. Martha couldn't stand her daughter crying so she went to give her a confronting hug.
"I'll talk to Rachel... She can't just disgrace herself and this family name, and talk to you like that and scot-free"
"No, mum. It's my fault, I shouldn't have caught them, I..." I said blaming myself just to fuel my mother's anger at Rachel. And it worked.
"No, I'll talk to her honey... Everything would be fine. If there's anybody that would leave the show, it would be Rachel and not you." Martha said firmly.
A huge smile rose to my face.
I was a damn good actress.
Let's see what Rachel would do now.
I had her mother's trust and love... Everything Rachel used to have before... All that remains is her happiness, and I am going to take that from Rachel; it's just a matter of time.
Martha was hugging me so close to herself.
This was just too easy.
She completely believed everything I said. I thought with a sinister smile planted on my face.
I can bet All Martha could think about now would be how to reach Rachel so she could talk some sense into her.
Rachel had changed. She was no longer the Rachel I once knew; she was stronger now, but I had to clip her wings before she grew too strong.
Ever since Martha found out that I was her real daughter, she changed and began to notice Rachel's other side; she was vicious and cruel... She even wanted to slap me even when I was on her side taking the blame for everything that happened.
That would be probably what Martha would be thinking.
I smiled again, enjoying this.
I knew Rachel still had respect for Martha since she was her mother and one of the few people, if not the only one, who cared for her in the Andrew's mansion.
She would definitely listen to her and quit the show.
I knew Rachel was vengeful, but sleeping with another man just to spite me? That was on another level.
I smiled again before my lips turned upside down and I resumed my sobs, hugging my mother even closer.
...
Martha's POV.
...
I had to have a chat with Rachel, I thought determinedly as I hugged Lana.
After s few minutes of comforting Lana, I left her room and went straight to mine to grab my phone. I dialed Rachel's number impatiently while pacing around my room.
She picked up after three rings.
"Mum... You." I heard Rachel's surprised voice on the phone as soon as she answered it.
She still had the guts to call me mum? I sneered.
" Where are you right now?" I asked coldly.
Rachel waited a few seconds before answering, her voice hesitant. "I'm staying at a friend's house."
"Friend? Or lover?" I asked again mockingly.
It was definitely a lover. I concluded inwardly.
Who knew Rachel would decide to go through such methods just to make a living? She could just come back to the house, or apologize to David!
What was wrong with that girl? I wondered.
"Mum I..." Rachel's voice shook and I sneered again.
"We need to talk!" I declared interrupting her from speaking.
My chest heaved up and down in anger.
Rachel may not be my biological daughter, but I cared for her. I didn't want her to sleep with men just to get things, and more importantly, I didn't want her to stand in the way of Lana's success in any way.
"Yes, Mum, I would also like to see you," Rachel answered with an overexcited tone.
"Don't think of this as a pleasant meeting, "I said. "I need to talk to you urgently."
"Ok, just say when and where," Rachel replied.
The audacity... My hands, holding my phone, tightened.
But I was the one who needed something, so I just had to play along.
"I'll text you the address; you better be there. "I said.
"Yes, Mother, I would, but I just want to..."
That was all.
I ended the call and threw the phone roughly on my bed.
Just speaking to her got me so agitated, what was wrong with that girl?
She got everything a girl in her shoes would ask for: a supporting family, a loving husband, and a very good friend who turns out to be her sister; she should be glad.
But Rachel was just ungrateful.
I just had to try to talk some sense into her, if not for her, for my daughter's sake.
