Chapter 17 Olivia Sangria
Rachel's POV
As I waited my turn, I watched as the others rehearsed their lines with one another.
Some were good, I would admit, while the others... I can shake my head at their performance.
I suddenly felt pressed and stood up to use the restroom.
"Where is it?" I looked around for a while before turning another corner.
Yep, I was lost.
Everywhere looked alike to me.
Where the fuck is the restroom.
" Are you perhaps lost?" A manly voice asked me from behind. I turned my body sharply to put a face to the voice.
My eyes widened as I was taken aback by his appearance. He was a handsome man dressed casually in a white hoodie and black pants. There was an amused smirk on his perfectly sculptured face. His dark blue eyes stared intensely at me.
What a beauty...
I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out.
"Ms... Are you okay?" The amusement on his face changed to worry as he asked me.
What is wrong with you, Rachel? I shook my head to get back to my senses.
"I'm.. I'm fine. I was just looking for the restroom, but I seem to have gotten lost".
" I see. You came here to audition for an act?" He asked me as he began walking in that direction.
I followed him keenly.
He's probably leading me to the bathroom, right?
" Yes ".
" So, may I have the honor of knowing your name?" He paused as he asked, staring at me.
" Rachel... Rachel And... " I stopped.
I was no longer an Andrews so it wouldn't be right for me to keep using that name. But at the same time, I had no idea who my real parents were.
"Rachel. Just Rachel". I added.
He gave a slight nod and resumed walking.
Was he waiting until I asked? I asked myself as I continued following him.
After a while of complete silence, I just had to ask.
"What is your name?"
"My name?" He raised his hands to his chest, pointing at himself.
He seemed rather surprised that I was asking for his name.
" Yes".
"You don't know my name?"
The way he asked made it seem like I ought to know it.
How the hell am I supposed to know your name? I wanted to say but I bit it back and covered it with a smile.
"Yes, I don't. "
I walked away annoyed at the way he was acting.
Like he was a big shot everyone was meant to know. Well, pardon me for not knowing your name.
"Ms. Rachel, I didn't mean to offend you. I was just surprised that you don't know me; almost everyone here knows me." He jogged up to me as he apologized.
I didn't give him any face and continued walking as though no one was talking to me.
"It's Raine... ". I heard him yell from behind.
A small smile came to my lips.
But why did the name sound so familiar?
"... And Ms Rachel, the female restroom is the other way". I heard him say again when I was about to turn a different corner.
A few minutes later, I was back in my seat, waiting for my turn, and thankfully I came back just in time.
"Next!" The loud sound came from the speaker again.
Lady too much makeup came out from the auditioning room, her eyes red with tears which smugged her make-up.
She had dark lines across her face which made her look no different from a clown. She was still trembling as she walked past me.
"How was it?" I asked sarcastically when she was about to pass me.
She turned back and glared at me. Her face looked scary because of how much it was smug with her make-up.
"Ms Rachel, it's your turn " The same lady came out again and announced.
I stood up from my seat and smiled at the others who were behind me before walking into the room.
There were three judges two men and a lady. I could see the lady and one of the men, but I wasn't able to see the last judge's face because he was standing next to a shadow and was kind of making himself invisible.
I looked around to find Marina but I couldn't see her anywhere. Instead, when I walked on the stage completely, I was able to see the last judge's face.
Holy shit... It was the same guy I met when I got lost on the way to the restroom.
Was he one of the directors? My heart, which was previously calm, began racing.
What if he wasn't so delighted by my attitude earlier and just decided to fail me? Why the hell did I not think of it?
I should at least have wondered what he was doing here.
Did I just lose my chance?
Raine caught me staring at him, and I quickly moved my eyes away, staring at everywhere but him.
"Hey, are you just going to stand there or are you going to tell us your name and act?" The female judge spoke up quite brashly and irritatedly.
What is wrong with this lady?
I looked down at the name tag just below her seat.
' Olivia Sangria ' The name read.
Oh my god, it was the renowned actress Olivia! She was a judge here?
I suddenly remembered what Marina said. The female lead and first supporting actress roles had already been taken.
Could Olivia possibly be the female lead?
"Ms, why are you not saying anything". The male judge asked jolting me away from my thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited to be around such great actors and directors... That I'm short of words". I carefully responded.
I could see the way Olivia's lips rose a bit because of my flattery.
"My name is Rachel, and I'll be auditioning for the role of Agnes, the second supporting actress and third female lead. "
I then began acting out the part of the script I had memorized. It was the part where Agnes was begging her friend, Mara, the female lead to not allow herself to fall for, Winston a married man.
When I was done, the hall was speechless.
Did I do something wrong? I asked myself I watched the judges, my heart beating widely in my chest.
"I.. if you want, I can do it a..."
"Congratulations, Ms. Rachel... You were just simply marvelous". One of the judges which I suspect to be the top director, suddenly rose up from his seat and gave me a round of applause.
Followed by Raine, then Olivia.
I was speechless, my hands went to my mouth to hold my excitement.
"It's been a long time since I've seen such talent, Ms. Rachel; we would be delighted to have you in our show." The man added.
My face beamed with smiles.
From the corner of my eyes, I could see the displeased look on Olivia's face because of the compliment given to me by the directors.
"It's only but beginners luck... I'm just a newbie in acting and I look forward to learning more from talented actors like Ms Olivia here". I said quickly pleasing Olivia.
It worked because Olivia's frown flipped to a smile.
I felt a sharp gaze on me and turned to look at it.
Raine was staring at me so keenly, it was giving me goose bumps.
"Didn't I tell you she was amazing? " Marina appeared from the corner of the room her face filled with smiles.
"She's indeed a good actress, Director Marina". The top director nodded.
I gave her a smile which she readily returned.
"Oh by the way, your phone has been buzzing since. A guy named Ethan kept calling you. I didn't want to answer it since it was your call, so here". Marina said after we had both left the audition room as she gave me my phone.
I had given it to her for safekeeping
Ethan? Why was he calling me?
