Chapter 51 I'm in love with someone else
Rachel's POV
We were in the middle of a serious conversation, and yet here I am staring at Ethan's lips longingly.
Snap out of it Rachel!
I shook my head moving away from him slightly.
"What did you say?" I asked since I heard absolutely nothing he was saying because I was so focused on how his lips moved.
"I said that Jake really adores you."
Jake? Which Jake? My brows furrowed in confusion.
Oh... Jake! His sister's son.
"Adores me? Who... No, when did he tell you that?" I asked him a cough after I noticed the concerned look he was giving me.
Look away... For heaven's sake, I'm fine. I begged in my head.
But I couldn't, I just couldn't.
"The day after the welcoming party..." Ethan trailed off, and my brows went up in realization.
That was the day I met his crazy... I mean, sister. The boy asked me to help him find his mum, which was more let me lead you to where my mum is so both of you would get acquainted.
"I remember. I didn't know the boy already got a good impression of me from just one out of stage meeting."
Well he wasn't the only one that got an impression of another person that day, hisother definitely made an impression on me also.
"Well, what he mostly says about you is how good you are at acting, and wishes you were the one who plays his mum in the movie."
"Me..." I pointed at myself in surprise.
Me... Play Nickolai mother? That would mean Mara! The boy wishes for me to play Mara?
Olivia would literally it off my head if I even as much as dream about taking her role.
I shuddered thinking of Olivia's fake smile back at the party. No way, hell no.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Ethan asked shaking me a little.
I blinked snapping out of my thoughts. "I'm fine. I just thought of Olivia."
My brows knitted together as Olivia face at the charity ball popped into my head. "Speaking of Olivia, how do you know her?"
Since I already thought of her, why not just bring it up. It won't sound like I'm jealous, right? Because I was not.
"Olivia?" Ethan asked giving me a skeptical look.
"Yes Olivia, I saw the way she was staring at you the whole time yesterday and glaring at me, so I'm sure both of you have an history." I said trying to sound natural.
Ethan's gaze turned cold by the time I said history.
"We don't have any history." He affirmed.
I rolled my eyes, how was that possible? And also, that wasn't what I asked.
"So how do you both know each other?" I asked trying my best to sound like I believed him.
"She's my sister's best and longest friend, and I've known her for almost ten years."
Ten years? Should be around the time when he left our highschool.
"So, both of you..." I trialed off and Ethan shook his head.
"She's Hannah's friend not mine, we're just...em, let's say we're like acquaintances."
I nodded in understanding.
"So there had been nothing between you guys, just acquaintances," I began with a scoff. "Then somebody needs to tell that to Olivia because she was glaring at me yesterday like I stole her man or something." I said with a shrug while stealing glimpses at Ethan to see how he would react.
But the man just shrugged. "I've noticed that. We barely see each other anyways."
Okay.
He really didn't have any feeling for Olivia... Tagt was good. But not like I really cared about his love life or anything.
"How many girls have you dated?" I asked before I could stop my mouth.
Ethan was taken aback by my question, and so was I.
Darn Rachel, why would you have to that so upfront. Now what would he think of you?
Ethan didn't say anything for almost thirty seconds and I began to feel hot, and extremely awkward.
"You... You don't have to answer that, my tongue just slipped..."
" One". Ethan interrupted.
One?
My eyes widened in surprise.
Only one? How was that even possible?
The guy in front of me was breathtakingly handsome, and unfathomably rich. How was it possible that he had only dated one girl in all his 27 years on this earth... Well, let's say minus the first 17 years because he was not this... You know, handsome.
But whst about the remaining 10 years? Was it him, or were all the girls blind?
But whoever the girl was, was incredibly lucky to have been the only girl a guy as hot as Ethan had dated.
I was still lost in my thoughts when I heard Ethan say something.
"What was that?"
"I said the girl is you." Ethan repeated as he locked his eyes on mine.
Me...
I scoffed looking away from him.
He almost got me.
"We're not in a real relationship, how can I be the girl you dated?"
"You didn't ask if it was a real or fake relationship, you only asked how many girls I had dated, and for now, that's just you."
My mouth opened in astonishment. So I was the lucky one?
Was this guy trying to say that he hadn't dated anyone, in his entire 27, well, 10 hot years of his life... He... No no no, that was impossible.
Or were they just his side chicks?
"So if I ask how many girls you had a real relationship with...?"
"Then the answer would be, zero."
Oh God ... Ethan just kept surprising me, or could it be that when he liked them they didn't feel the same way.
"Ok... But is there someone you had a crush on, or some you confessed your feelings to but rejected it?" I asked shifting closer to him so he could understand how serious I was.
Ethan kept quiet for a while, placing his hand under his chin.
"There is one lady..." He said after some time.
"Really, who? How was it like? Did you like her or did she like you? What ruined you're relationship... No scratch that, why didn't you both get into a relationship? Is it even a woman? Are you..."
"Slow down Rachel, seriously." Ethan exclaimed interrupting my long list of questions.
"What?" I asked innocently.
I was just about to ask if he was gay, because that would explain a lot.
"I'm in love with someone, it's a she, and she doesn't know it yet." Ethan said with a sigh.
He said 'I'm in love' not I was in love, meaning he was still in love with the lady.
"You still love her?" I asked just to be sure. My breathing stood still as I awaited his obvious answer.
Ethan slowly nodded and my heart sank "I do"
What was I expecting anyways?
It was a relief that he wasn't gay, but why did I feel a pang in my chest when he said he was still in love with her?
Who was the lucky girl anyways?
"Oh... Why... Why don't you want to tell her?" I asked trying to hide the pain and jealous in my voice.
"I doubt she would want to hear about my feelings for her. I've known her for such a long time, and... I'm just scared to get rejected." Ethan answered with so much emotions in his voice.
I felt like my heart was being squeezed as I listened to him.
He had know the girl for a long time... Could it he Olivia?
I looked up to see him looking at me, his gaze intense as if he was trying to look into my soul or something, I struggled to pull away from his gaze but it held me still.
"Ring...Ring" My phone rang interrupting the moment. I immediately reached into my bag and brought out the phone, it was Marina.
"Hel..."
"Rachel, you have to get here now!"
