Chapter 44 Oops, clumsy me
Third person's POV
" What do you say? I want words Ann, are you in or not? " Olivia persisted.
Hannah nodded the tears that had gathered in her eyes falling sharply. " Fine. I'll help you in anyway I can, but you have to promise me two things".
A huge smile adorned Olivia face as she nodded in acceptance. She could promise Ann anything right now, as long as the girl helps her get her brother to notice her.
" Anything ".
" You'll never speak of what happen that night eve again, and I mean it Livia, you can't use that to threaten me". She began glaring at Olivia.
It was her greatest secret, her worst nightmare and she told Olivia on her own, she had never imagine in her wildest dreams that the girl would use the worst day of her life to threaten her.
But now that she knew the type of person Olivia was, she couldn't afford to take any chances.
"Yes... I would never speak of it again, it's just I'm really desperate right now, that's why. What's the second one?" Olivia asked eagerly, ready to get this done and over with.
Hannah shook her head.
What did this girl think of her? A fool? Any one can just promise anything and not mean it, she needed real assurance. "I'll have my lawyer give you a confidentiality contract tomorrow so I can really be sure you won't say anything about that night ever again."
Olivia shrugged. She was cool with it, as long as she had Ethan, she was cool with anything.
"Do whatever you want, what's the second one?" She asked again, this time her tone impatient.
" If and when we try to separate them, but I... No, we find out Ethan, Ethan is in love with her... We stop this". Hannah said slowly dragging every word.
Olivia face crumbled.
" No that's not the plan". She shook her head, but Hannah was defiant. " If Ethan's in love with her there's nothing that can break them apart, he's my brother and I know him ".
" But he doesn't know Rachel! You don't know Rachel!"
" How could you be sure? Huh? "
" Ann... Rachel is not who she says she is". Olivia voice turned low, almost pleading, but Hannah still had a stoic expression on her face. " That's all I can offer Olivia, take it or leave it". She said removing her hands from Olivia's.
Olivia blinked trying to calm herself.
At least Hannah agreed to help, and how deep could Ethan's feelings be for Ethan? By the looks of things they only met just few months ago.
" I promise ".
" You promise to what? "
" I promise that we'll stop trying to make your brother realize his mistake of dating that stupid, gold digging bitch, if we find out he's in love with her". Olivia completed with malice and anger etched in her tone.
Hannah nodded. It was done.
" Let's go back to the party"
Olivia and Hannah walked back to the party together, but any one who had eyes could notice that their friendship was strained.
Olivia had crossed the line by bringing up a secret that had long been buried, and it was impossible for them to go back to the way they once were.
Olivia immediately spotted Rachel as soon as she walked back into the party. Why? Well the answer was simple, her eyes found Ethan and Rachel laughing together!
Her breathing became rapid with anger as she watched them laugh with each other. A butler passed by and she immediately grabbed a glass from the tray drowning it all in one glup.
That darn Rachel was ruining everything she had worked so for!
She picked up another one and drowned it again in one go, still looking at Ethan and Rachel smiling
Hannah looked at her wondering why she was behaving like that until she traced her line of sight to see her brother and Rachel laughing.
A smile unconsciously came to her lips. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen him smile, talkless of laugh this loud. Rachel was really bringing out the best in him. Was she doing the right thing by teaming up with Olivia to destroy their relationship?
Then, Olivia began walking towards them with another wine glass in hand. Hannah's eyes widened. "Don't do anything stupid, Livia." But Olivia didn't hear her, blinded and deafened by her rage.
" Hey guys... Just noticed you guys and wanted to say hi"
Ethan removed his gaze from Rachel's bare shoulder to look at Olivia.
He and Rachel were just in the middle of something and Rachel on the other hand and a light pick blush on her face.
" We just saw each other few minutes ago at the garden". Rachel said after her blush had reduced a bit.
" I know, but it was mostly Hannah doing the talking "Olivia shrugged, a sly smile playing on her lips. " So by the way, how did you meet Hannah? Because you two seem to know each other even before you were both introduced ".
Rachel brows furrowed. The memory of how she first met Hannah pulled back up in her mind.
The lady was screaming and shouting for help, and when she opened the door there was no else was in the room with Hannah.
It was quite creepy to see a grown woman act like that, like she was crazy.
She would have to add that to the numerous amount of questions she would ask Ethan tomorrow.
She was just about to turn back to Olivia when she felt a splash of liquid on her dress and on to her face.
She gasped in shock.
"Oh my god, Rachel" Marina who was standing not to far with Mark witnessed the incident and immediately rushed towards Rachel.
Ethan eyes widened as he glanced at Rachel checking her if she was okay.
"Oops... Clumsy me, are you alright?" Olivia asked with a slight gasp and her hand flew to her mouth, feigning concern and shock.
Rachel gasped again as the cold liquid tricked down her skin.
" You witch, you did this on purpose ". Marina yelled at Olivia looking as if she was ready to pounce on her if not for Mark who was holding her back.
" No, why would I do this on purpose? It was the dumb waiter who bumped into me and made me spill the glass". Olivia denied vehemently glancing at a waiter not to far from them.
Marina shook her head, as if ready to say something else to spite but when Rachel suddenly spoke up.
" I just thank God this dress is black, if it was another color... It would have been impossible to explain the stain". She joked but they all knew what she said had an epitome of truth, most especially Marina who knew how much the dress cost and how the director would complain about the stain.
" I want to leave... "
" I'll take you home". Ethan said hut Rachel shook her head in disagreement. " No need, I'll go on my own ".
"There's no way I'm letting you leave on your own in this state". Ethan disagreed.
"Then I'll go with her. I'm already done with the party, and since we're going the same way, why not?". Marian spoke up interrupting their argument.
She looked towards Mark and smiled.
"Thank you for everything today".
A grin appeared on Mark's face as he bid them fare well, while Ethan just looked at Olivia in anger.
He had seen the way her hand moved, and the water was too far away to be the cause of the stain, so why did she do it?
