Chapter 45 Nope, he hates me

Ch. 44 / 155 Apr 28, 2026

Rachel's POV

" Can't believe that bitch actually spilled her drink on you... Seriously what gives?" Marina complained as she opened the door to our hotel room.

She had been saying the same thing over and over again since our drive back from the party, and sincerely I thought the same.

Despite her denial, I was very sure Olivia spilled the drink on me on purpose, but why?

"Maybe it was really mistake, you can never know". I said walking into the room. Marina stared at me with a dumb look an did chuckled.

"It was sarcasm, come on. Even a fool would see that she did it on purpose." Marina shook her head at me as she removed her shoes before falling flat on the bed.

"I've had long day." She groaned making me chuckle even more.

"We've had a long day." I corrected following her footsteps of removing my shoes before falling on her bed.

She suddenly sat up earning a raised brow from me.

What's up with her? Her face had a huge grin on it, if it got any wider I feared that her lips would tear.

"So that was Ethan..." She said suddenly wiggling her brows at me.

I shook my head.

She wanted information, something I wasn't really ready to give her at the moment.

"Yes... I want to sleep." I muttered stuffing my face under a pillow.

"Come'on Rachel, won't you tell me anything about him... You didn't even tell me he was going to come today." Marina whined tugging at the pillow covering my face.

She was persistent, really persistent.

I sighed sitting up on the bed.

"I didn't know he was going to come, he said he wanted to surprise me."

"Well it was a pleasant surprise... Thank goodness he arrived when he did, David was getting to full of himself. " She scoffed. "And to think he expected you to kneel and beg for his forgiveness... The nerve of the guy". She said rolling her eyes.

A smile came to my lips, but it immediately disappeared when I remembered what David had almost done after Marina spoke back at him.

My eyes looked at her in worry. "Are you really alright? " Marina smiled taking my hands in her's. "Of course I am, that bastard's hand didn't even touch me because of your boyfriend's friend." She said with a dreamy sigh.

I rolled my eyes at her cliché statement. But at least she didn't hate the guy.

"So you like the Mark?" I asked.

Marina started dumbly at me again.

"Of course I like him. Who won't like a guy who just came like a knight in shiny armor and saves her? " She said rolling her eyes. " Tsk... I didn't even know what David was about to do until I saw his hands almost on my face". She shivered a bit after saying that, probably remembering the moment.

"But what I don't understand is why your Ethan didn't help me out with David, he was way closer than Mark... "

My eyes widened.

Did she also realized?

"Maybe he only likes you, and no one else..."

"That's not it." I cut her off with a sigh.

A confused expression appeared on Marina's face. "About Ethan? Then what is it then? does he not like me? " She asked trying to lace the hurt in her voice, but I could clearly see it.

Ah... God, how do I say this.

"Marina... Ethan, you know him, and the both of you... Well the both of you don't have good history."

Marina eyes widened as she slowly removed pulled her hands away. " I don't know him, I never forget an handsome face, and a face like his... " She shook her head.

It was true she never forgot an handsome face, but Ethan wasn't even half as good looking before as he was now.

"He's Ethan Wright." I declared expecting some kind of shocked expression or something, but instead I was meant with a causal look from Marina

It made me remember how I acted when he first said he was Ethan Wright... We really never memorized the surname of the guy we frequently bullied back in high school? It was... It was, kind of funny.

A smile appeared on my lips as I thought of it.

"What's so funny? Was I supposed to know him?" Marina asked with a raised brow.

"No... Well, yes... It's just, I also didn't remember his surname when he first told me." I said trying to stifle my laughter.

"Okay... Who is he then?"

"Google glasses Ethan... Our favorite pastime back in highschool ".

Marina expression froze as soon as I mentioned the name.

She looked just like I did when Ethan first told me who he was, shocked.

"Y... you...You can't be serious" She said with a giggle but when she saw my serious expression her giggle trailed off.

"Ethan? Ethan Ethan? As in the Ethan we knew back in highschool!" She yelled loudly making me jump.

"Yes, the same Ethan."

Now there was the surprise and shock I was looking for...

Marina face contorted in shock. "How is that possible? The Ethan we knew back then was skinny and nerdy and he wore huge goggles for glasses Rachel, he was not handsome and most definitely not rich... The guy I saw today was not only super good looking, he also looked stinking fucking rich... Rachel, don't try to pull my legs."

"I'm not. I was also shocked when he told me who he was, and to think he was the one who saved me from killing myself."

"How is that even possible for a guy to change that much? Oh God... So karma is real." Marina said in a dramatic tone fanning herself with her hands.

"Stop it Marina," I snorted at her overdramatic attitude.

"What? I'm being serious. If a guy like Ethan could suddenly change and become this rich and handsome... Then karma is real. " She nodded frantically, then she gasped. "Now I understand why he didn't help me earlier... That's because he still hates me" She said in realization.

Ok ok... This girl was thinking to far.

"Marina..."

"Really... I'm even suprised he didn't hit me by himself. Do you remember what I did to him? If I were in his shoes right now, I'll teach me a lesson I'll never forget!" She said almost hysterically.

She was starting to get me scared, so I knelt down on the bed and held her shoulders, to get her to look at me... Which she did.

"Marina he doesn't hate you!" I said firmly but she shook her head in disbelief.

Even I wouldn't have believed it, but Ethan assured me and I trusted him.

"Nope, he hates me. I was the worst to him among the three of us, do you remember the time I went out of my way and dumped food on his head in the cafeteria? He redrew from school because of that, and you're saying he doesn't hate me?"

I blinked my eyes. "I'm not the one saying it, he is." I said in an almost inaudible voice.

"So he really has forgiven you, to the point of helping you with David and Lana?" She asked precariously raising her brow at me.

I shrugged. "We've worked things out."

Her brows rose higher and I rolled my eyes.

I would have thought the same thing if I didn't know him... Well the little I knew about him.

Marina kept silent, probably still in thought about Ethan.

Talking about Ethan... I had to ask Marina something.

"Ah yes... There's something I wanted to ask you, do you know Ethan has a sister?"
