Evelyn could hear her heart beating loudly.
Her mate's pain was crushing her.
The omega clenched her fist as she looked at Keiran.
Derned's hand was on the alpha's throat as he choked him but Keiran didn't seem to care about himself. Instead, he was looking at Evelyn with worry.
"Evelyn… run—argh! " The alpha grunted in pain when Derned dug his claws into his flesh. "R-Run to Calvin and tell him to take you home! " He shouted before delivering a punch to the vampire's face.
Evelyn could hear her mate's commands but her mind was blank.
She felt odd.
Her focus seems to be expanding somewhere. It was weird for the omega.
Evelyn could feel her skin tingling. She felt the wind. It's coldness and the direction it came from. The scent of herbs and winter flowers mixed with the air.
She could feel the ground. Even the small vibrations of a leaf falling. Everything occupied her mind.
The steps of people. Water flowing in the river. Trees swaying in the wind.
The omega gasped when a train of emotions hit her.

This was something foreign.
Her eyes grew wide when the vibration on the ground started increasing.

Evelyn could hear her heart beating like a time bomb. The girl was confused and nervous about what was happening.

It felt like it expanded out of her body. She could feel her surroundings. Every little thing in the forest.

Keiran's voice made the omega flinch.
She looked at him wide-eyed.
"Run! Now! " The alpha screamed but Evelyn was frozen in her spot.
The omega's eyes grew wide as she saw blood pouring out of his mouth.
Derned laughed devilishly. "I knew your weak point was her, " He chuckled before delivering another punch to the alpha's face.
And that was the last straw for the omega.
Evelyn saw red.
Her bright green orbs glowed and swirled into a dark viridian.
The anger she felt spread through her mind and everything connected to it.
The woods shook from the sudden strong wind that appeared.
"Take your hands off him! " The omega shouted, making Derned pause.
He turned to look at the fuming omega.
Her golden hair was floating in the air. Her dark forest eyes fixated on him ferociously.
Roars and howls surrounded them, making everyone stop what they were doing. The warriors looked around in confusion.
Gasps flew out of everyone's lips as they saw the animals step into their fighting zone.
Everything was there.
The predators and the prey.
From bears to leopards.
And they all looked pissed off.
The hunters started to step back in fear as the predators stepped towards them with a growl.
A big leopard slowly walked up to Evelyn who was glaring at the vampire in front of her. He stood beside her proudly and roared, causing the vampire to flinch.
The warriors were nervous too. It was their first time being surrounded by this many predators.
They were werewolves but they would have no chance against a herd of animals in front of them.
It wasn't just one or two but the whole herds and packs of all the animals were there.
Evelyn took small steps towards the vampire, the bears, and leopards following her like her guardians.
Keiran was speechless as he stared at the girl. He couldn't comprehend what was happening. The alpha seriously doubted he was hallucinating.
"If you don't let him go now, you won't step out alive from our territory, " Evelyn breathed out and Derned knew that she was telling the truth.
The vampire gulped. He knew this would happen someday but not now.
Things are happening faster than he thought.
Maybe he went too far playing with Keiran.
The air thickened around him and it felt suffocating to the vampire.
Derned examined his surroundings. There was an army of animals.
Sure, vampires could fight and win against animals. But this many? That would be madness.
And also, Derned didn't want to test Evelyn anymore.
He didn't want this to happen. He wanted the oblivious Evelyn who thought she was only an omega but now it seems like the girl has already taken a step closer to herself.
It would be dangerous to push her anymore.
The vampire slowly let go of the alpha who looked confused.
Derned turned to Keiran with a sneer.
"We will come again and we will take what we came for! " He said in the raspy possessed voice. "This is not the end, " He looked at the omega and met her dark green eyes glaring at him.
Her stare was cold and deathly. He could feel his heart beating loud. Some strange power seems to be flowing out of her.
"I can feel your fear, " Evelyn smirked, catching the vampire off guard.
Derned gulped before taking a few steps back. "Hunters…" He whispered as he found a way to step back. His followers retreated towards the woods as he did.
The vampire looked back before he was about to disappear into the woods. "This is not over, dogs. We will be back soon," He sneered, causing him to get a reply of loud growls and howls. The vampire glared at the omega before he walked deeper into the woods.
Evelyn's attention snapped back to her mate when she heard him grunt in pain. Keiran cursed as he pulled out the knife that was stabbed in his palm.
"Keiran! " The girl was beside him in a second. "Oh god, are you o-okay? " The omega asked, her eyes watering as she saw the blood pouring out of his hand nonstop.
The alpha panted as he gave her a small smile. "I'm okay, " He assured her
before his attention turned back to the animals who were around them. "But what is all this...? What just happened?"
Evelyn turned back to the waiting animals. She bowed to show her respect to them for protecting her and they all started walking back to the woods.
"They… They came to protect us," The omega smiled. "I-I still don't know how it happened… it's like I'm connected to them in some way, " Evelyn looked down in confusion. "But I don't know how, "
The alpha hugged his mate from behind. "Whatever just happened… It was awesome. And I'm relieved that you're safe," Keiran sighed and snuggled his face into the crook of the omega's neck.
