"Josh! You stupid! What have you done?! "
The beta grunted in pain as he looked up at Keiran. "H-He was aim-aiming at you… "
"Shut up! Fuck! Call Amelia!" The alpha was losing control. He wanted to shift and rip the vampire's throat but he couldn't.
He was helpless.
And Keiran hated that.
Evelyn was silent.
The scene felt oddly familiar.
She had experienced this before. It felt like history was repeating itself.
Is she going to lose someone she loves again?
Like she lost her parents?
"OH MY GOD! JOSH!" Amelia shouted as she ran towards Josh. "W-What?" The doctor panicked seeing her cousin all bloodied on the ground.
"Take him away, Amelia!" Keiran shouted his commands.
"Wait a minute, "
Evelyn fisted her hands when she heard the voice.
"Aren't you all forgetting us? We're still here, you know?" Victor chuckled, followed by Derned's mocking laughter.
"You're not gonna leave here alive, Victor, " Keiran gritted his teeth.
"Look who's talking," The vampire couldn't help but laugh. "Worry about yourself, Keiran. If you stay here for long, you're the one who's gonna die,"
Evelyn slowly stood up. "Relax, Keiran," She told her mate, her voice calm.
"Yes, relax Keiran. Listen to your wise mate,"
Evelyn ignored Victor's mockery and turned to the doctor. "Amelia, I need you to take them both and treat them as soon as possible,"
"Evelyn, what the hell are you saying?! I'm not leaving you here!"
"Don't worry, I can handle it," The omega smiled."I trained for this,"
"We have to move! Josh is losing so much blood!" Amelia announced frantically.
"Calvin," Evelyn called the beta who was holding Josh.
"Take Keiran and tell all the warriors to retreat,"
"Huh? So are you surrendering yourself already? No fight? That was a lot easier than I thought," Victor chuckled.
"I think she's scared of us, " Derned joined in with a laugh. "Good thing we won't have to waste—"
"You two..."
The vampires stopped smiling when they heard her speak. Evelyn was staring at them, her gaze cold and dark as she pointed a finger at them.
Her eyes were no longer the color of warm green. Instead, they were dark viridian.
The air around them felt thick and cold.
Victor frowned. He could see that Evelyn wasn't playing.
The girl was going to do something.
She emitted a domineering power that made them want to kneel.
"....shut up and wait,"
Derned gulped.
The omega sounded threatening.
If someone told him he would feel threatened by an omega a day ago, he would've laughed or killed that person.
But this was no joke.
An omega was making his knees shake.
"You all need to go," Evelyn turned back to her mate.
Keiran shook his head."I'm not leaving you no matter what. I don't care what you have to say. This is a stupid idea—"
"Keiran, believe me. I will not get hurt,"
"You're telling all the warriors to retreat, Evelyn. That's suicide. Do you know what you're doing?!"
"I do," The omega stared at her mate and Keiran couldn't find even a little bit of fear in her. "I know very well what's going to happen here. This fight will end today and we will win, "
"Evelyn, let the warriors stay—"
"The warriors should be evacuated for their safety. Calvin, hurry up. There's no time to waste,"
"Keiran, hold on to me. We need to go," The beta came to pick up Keiran.
"Calvin, you're listening to her?! Are you kidding me? I'm not going anywhere, "
"Keiran, my wolf is forcing me to listen to her and we also need to get you and Josh treated as soon as possible. The poison is spreading faster. You need to survive for your mate and the pack, come on,"
"Get up, Keiran. Listen to her," Niya interfered. The witch looked at the omega. She looked stoic but she could see the underlying anger and frustration in her eyes. "She knows what she's doing,"
Amelia was trying to stop Josh's bleeding. She stopped when the medical assistants came. "Move them to the camp! Quickly! " She ordered and they all nodded before trying to lift up the alpha and the beta.
Keiran looked up at his mate. Evelyn had a small smile on her lips. "Take care of Josh and don't worry about me. I'll be alright. Trust me,"
He couldn't argue anymore. His body was turning weak and Evelyn didn't look like she was going to listen to him.
The alpha's mouth felt dry. He felt weak.
He remembered how proud he was of his strength.
It's all useless now. He failed to protect his mate and his pack when they needed him the most.
He believed in his mate but it wasn't right to leave her alone to face the hunters.
They're vicious.
If Evelyn is doing all this without thinking it through, he's practically leaving her here to be taken by them.
He just hoped that wasn't the case.

"You're finally giving us your attention, " Victor scoffed when the omega turned around to face them. "It's insulting to turn your back on your enemy, you know? It's also a mistake. Your mate made that mistake a little while ago, " He smirked.
"Don't worry, I won't make any mistakes from now on, " The girl smiled.
"You're a sassy little one, aren't you? " Victor chuckled. "I think I'm going to enjoy keeping you by my side, "
Evelyn looked up, a small smile forming on her lips.
Derned frowned at the sudden change in their surroundings. The forest got oddly quiet. There were no sounds of any kinds of animals or birds. Even the insects were nowhere near to be found.
The coldness of the air increased. A strong gust of wind shook the woods, creating loud, irritating sounds of trees clashing with each other.
"Victor, the warriors have retreated! I think we scared them all off! " One of the hunters shouted.
Evelyn's smile turned into an evil grin.
The wind grew strong in a second. It slowly created a wall around them, trapping everyone inside.
Derned looked around frantically. He was confused like all the hunters. It was like they were all trapped inside a tornado.
There was no way to leave.
Victor gritted his teeth as he stared at the omega.
He knew what was happening and it made his blood boil.
"We're going to be alone for quite a while," Evelyn smirked. "I hope you enjoy my company as you said, "
