Angelo’s POV
One thing that helped me take down so many powerful alphas was the element of surprise. I knew how to take down someone with any kind of skill. Except for magic. That's when I'm left out of the loop with her and Benjamin. God, I hated him since I first laid eyes on him, but he was the one that actually knew how to take Jason down.
So I swallowed the hard lump in my throat and moved on. We were all here to fight together against a threat against us all. Now was not the time to get jealous over him.
Which reminded me that I had just won Top Alpha. I had the power to summon all the packs when I defeated their alpha's. All I needed to do was howl for them. That was something Benjamin was not going to expect from me.
"I will keep the undead army focused on my wolves. Benjamin will do some witch shit then I'll grab the gem." I said watching Benjamin's blue eyes narrow at me at my use of words.
"What did you say?" He moved closer, aggravated, while I stood my ground watching him carefully. If he tried something I wasn't going to hold back. I said I would fight with him but never said I would be nice.
"Um, guys, stop swinging your dicks around," Diana said looking at us with her arms crossed. The sweat gleaming off her tanned skin made her look angelic and every inch beautiful. Her hair was up in a messy bun that would eventually become undone when we begin running.
"You’ve never seen my witch side so don’t get too cocky. I would gladly take you on." Benjamin's words made my blood boil because he was literally picking another fight. One he would not win.
"Can we just move on with the plan? Jason can unleash that gem any second." Diana moved toward us and pushed us apart by putting a hand on our chests so we had some distance between us. "We will follow Angelo's plan on this."
Benjamin clenched his jaw and nodded at me without saying another word.
"James and Cam can protect Diana," I said and Diana automatically gave me a deviant look before I could finish the sentence. "because you're coming with us."
Diana then smiled at me making my heart flutter at the sight. God, it was crazy how beautiful that smile transformed her face.
"I wouldn't suggest healing random people, that healing power is black magic inside of you. It will grow the more you use it. I was planning on giving you this the last day we had together." Benjamin said looking down at Diana and taking something out his pocket. It was a clear beaded bracelet that reflects the sun rays as rainbows. I tensed up as I watched her gently take it from his hands. The sound of the beads moving made me realize they were actually tiny glass marbles.
"I know anything coming from you has some hidden meaning. So what does this do?" Was the hidden meaning was a romantic gesture that I greatly disapproved of? Because that's what it felt like.
I could only fist my hand behind my back as I watched her light brown eyes sparkle while she looked down at it. A small smile lingered on those rosy lips.
He was giving her something I couldn't. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
"Each crystal bead will slowly start to turn black from the inside out. You have 12 so don't go using it up. When you max out there is the possibility of it consuming your soul like Jason and being overtaken by black magic. He was collecting black magic in that gem so they wouldn't be stuck with him but it still got inside of him. You transfer it to an object so you can use it but then dispose of it when you can. When you've gone too far." Benjamin showed us his pinky finger so that we could see a thin silver band around it. I didn't even notice he had it all this time.
"This was my mother's ring," He said moving it around with his other hand. "I can sense I have used up a lot. Diana's bracelet is more of a clock whenever she uses black magic since it's already inside of her. She can’t dispose of it."
We all watched as Diana slipped on the bracelet. The first bead immediately turned black the second one just had a dot in the middle.
"That's what you were trying to teach me all this time? Makes more sense now after everything I learned," She said eyeing the bracelet. "Alright let's get this moving."
I gave Benjamin a look before following Diana. Whatever the real hidden meaning behind that bracelet wasn't going to affect how this fight turns out. We need to get this black magic under control so I have go back to the good days when this never lurked in the background.
