Tish POV
The sound of arguing outside my bedroom door wakes me from a miserable sleep. I am too round and swollen to get comfortable. My skin has stretched as far as my body will allow, and I am so itchy. I am stuck on my back and can't get back to my side, and all I want is five more fucking minutes of sleep.
"I am not letting you in," Kaden's voice is harsh, and I wonder who he is talking to. "She is sleeping and naked."
I giggle at the last bit. Whoever he is trying to keep out must be relentless.
"It is nothing I haven't seen before," Mae's voice comes wafting through the door.
Excitement fuels me, and I try my best to sit up. "Let her in!" I scream with excitement.
Kaden cracks the door open and looks at me lying naked as the day I was born on the bed and shakes his head. "No."
"Shut up," I scream at him. "She has seen me naked more times than you have."
"I have never seen her naked," Raven's voice joins the chaos. "It seems unfair that I haven't."
"Her body is to die for," Mae tells her.
"Not anymore," I yell back.
There is some sort of scuffle, and I hear Kaden groan loudly. I grit my teeth together because I know that sound. Mae has kicked Kaden in the balls. The door swings open, and Mae and Raven come rushing to my side.
Mae stands at the end of my bed with her hands on her hips and stares down at me. Her blue eyes are twinkling with excitement but they are hiding something as well. We haven't seen each other in such a long time, I can feel hot tears rolling down my cheeks.
"Don't just stand there," I laugh through my tears. "Help me up."
Raven grabs one arm, and Mae grabs the other, and they hoist me to a sitting position. It doesn't last long because Mae tackles me with a hug, and I fall back onto the bed again. She holds me in her arms, and it feels like it did all those years ago.
She rolls me onto my side and tucks herself behind me. "I am the big spoon," I complain.
"Not with that belly," she laughs and wraps her arms around me.
Raven is studying us with longing in her eyes. I don't think she has ever had a friend as close as Mae and I are. She finally sighs and sits on the edge of the bed. "Even pregnant, your boobs are more impressive than mine."
I hold my arms out for her, and she takes her place on the bed beside us. She carefully curls herself around my pregnant belly, and we all lay together. Aside from being with the twins, I feel very at home with these two women.
"Why are you all here?" I ask, breaking the silence between us.
"Umm," Raven mumbles but doesn't answer the question.
"Just spit it out," I groan.
"You are going to have a baby," Mae whispers behind me. "Did you really think we would miss that?"
"According to the pack doctor, I have at least two more weeks," I tell them.
Raven rolls her eyes and glances over my shoulder at Mae, who is sucks in a sharp breath behind me. I feel like I am missing out on something, but I am honestly not sure I want to be in on it. Mae snuggles in closer against my back, and I can feel her breath on the back of my neck.
"Where are the babies?" I ask sleepily.
"With the men," Raven yawns. "You can cuddle Edward later. I think he has been missing you."
"Right now, you need your rest," Mae whispers. "Go back to sleep."
My eyes lazily begin to close, and I hear the familiar sound of Kai groaning. I tilt my head to the side and see him standing at the edge of the bed, biting down on his fist. "I don't know if I am jealous or really fucking turned on."
"Get out," I hiss at him.
"This is my room, too," he wiggles his eyebrows at us. "I should at least get to watch."
I roll my eyes and drop my head back onto the pillow, knowing there is no arguing with him, but Raven isn't tolerating his bullshit. "Out," she says, and I can feel the tiny bit of command in her voice.
He pushes his lip out in a little pout and throws his hands up in the air. I know he is just pretending to be upset, but there is a flash of worry in his eyes. Once again, I feel like I am missing out on something.
"I think I will overrule your Elder Council while I am here," Raven says quietly. "They have been dragging their feet for too long."
"You can do that?" I ask hopefully.
"I can do whatever I want," she chirps. "I am the Luna Queen."
I can feel her smile against my hair, and she rests her hand on my pregnant belly. The little pup growing in my belly kicks and moves beneath her hand. Raven's fingers flex against my skin, and my baby settles down. It is almost like they are communicating with each other.
Mae is snoring soundly behind me, and Raven's eyes are fluttering closed. I take a deep breath, not knowing what the rest of the day will bring, but I am content for the moment. My best friends chose to come be with me for the next two weeks until I give birth. I don't know how I got so lucky. I went from the girl who had nothing to the girl who has everything.
Sweat is dripping down my brow, and a pain radiates through my stomach. I jerk awake, and I realize that it is dark outside. Mae has a cool washcloth against my forehead, and Raven is pacing the floor. I suddenly realize the room is full. Kaden and Kai are on the bed with me as well.
I inch my way up on my elbows and look around at everyone. "What is going on?"
Mae and Raven share a look but do not answer me, but Kai does. He grabs me by the chin and places a kiss on my lips. It is greedy and desperate. No sooner do we break apart, Kaden's lips replace his. His kiss is just as hungry, leaving me breathless.
Then I feel it. Something is seeping from between my legs. I lift up the sheet and see nothing but blood.
