Winston POV
I saw her running from the classroom screaming, I saw her face when she left the principal's office, and I saw her lips pressed against that lesser creature. I should have killed him right then and there to make a point, but I let him go. Macy will not be as lucky.
I make sure to grab the things she left behind so I have a reason to visit her after school. Edward has made it clear that he doesn't give a damn about the Lycan mate bond. Crazy Macy will not be our mate.
I set her bag between my legs, and Edward looked at it suspiciously. "What the fuck is that?"
"Macy's bag," I respond curtly.
"I know that," he growls. "Her scent is all over it. Why do you have it?"
"She left it," I shrug.
"I heard she went full crazy today," he laughs. "We have to dispose of her sooner rather than later."
I shift uncomfortably in my seat. This isn't the first time he has brought up killing her since we arrived here. We assumed that our mates would be lycans as well, but I guess Mom was right when she said we were the only ones. I am not pleased that the Moon Goddess has paired us with her, but I don't want her dead.
"Don't tell me you are having second thoughts," he groans. "She is crazy. She is not fit to rule beside us."
"She's kind of pretty," I catch myself saying.
"How can you tell under all that black makeup?" Edward grumbles. "But I did appreciate her body in those fishnets. Maybe we can play with her a little before we kill her."
"No," I snarl, making Edward jump. What he is suggesting is despicable. We have done some terrible things, but I will not be adding sexual assault to that list.
"I was just joking," he laughs. "I wouldn't touch Crazy Macy with a ten foot pole."
I try to relax, but my inner lycan isn't letting me. He feels protective of Macy. Graydon doesn't feel the way Edward and I do about Macy. He wants to claim her in more ways than one.
When we pull up to the pack house, I can sense something is off. Edward can feel it, too. He races into the house in search of Mom. She is the only person he cares for. I choose to go my own way and head up to Macy's room.
The door is locked. I would have thought she learned her lesson yesterday about keeping me out. I don't bother picking the lock today. Instead, I break the doorknob so she won't be able to lock it again.
Her scent of chocolate is strong when the door swings open. I set her bag beside her bed and spot the book about lycans. By the placement of the bookmark, she has read through about half of it.
I follow her scent into the bathroom, breaking the lock easily. I can see the outline of her body behind the foggy shower door. She is curvy in ways that I was not expecting, and I find myself adjusting my pants to accommodate my growing cock.
She hums to herself until I step near the shower door. She pauses, and I see her sniff the air. I can feel her heartrate pick up as if it were my own, and it only makes me want to claim her. She is my prey.
"Hello?" She calls out, but I don't answer.
She peeks her face out of the shower, and I am taken aback by her beauty. I had forgotten her hair is naturally curly. It hangs in soft ringlets around her face. Her dark make-up has been washed away, and I can see the true beauty beneath. Still, I keep my expression grave.
She tries to duck back into the shower, but my hand darts out and keeps her from closing the door. She shrinks behind the glass and tries to steady her breathing.
"Can you leave, please?" She asks politely.
'She is scared,' Graydon tells me.
I know she is, but I cannot stop myself. I pull back the door, and Macy presses the front of her body against the wall to shield herself from my gaze.
Beads of water trail down her back and over the curve of her ass. I take a moment to admire her before choosing to speak. "I saw you today."
A growl rumbles in her chest, and it only turns me on more. "I saw you, too."
"No," I correct her. "I saw you kiss that other male."
Another growl comes from her. She is irritated, and it amuses me. Gliding across the shower wall, she reaches for a towel and quickly covers herself. I am not prepared for the flash of red in her eyes when she looks at me.
"Jacob kissed me," she informs me. "And if you watched for long enough, you would have seen me slap him."
I am surprised by her honesty. "Why did you slap him?" I ask.
"Because I didn't want to be kissed," she whispers. "Not like that."
For some reason, she is open and vulnerable with me. I don't understand why and it makes me uncomfortable, so I change the subject.
"Why are your eyes red?" I ask.
"Just one of the perks of having a 600-year-old wolf living in my mind," she replies sarcastically. The red fades from her eyes, and she groans loudly. "Sorry, 597-year-old wolf."
I stare at her. I had no idea there was an ancient wolf living in her mind, and I make a mental note to ask Father about it later.
"Are we done here?" Her attitude snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Don't touch other men," I grunt. "You are mine."
"I belong to no man," she growls.
I run my fingers down her shoulder, desperate to feel how smooth her skin is under my fingers. Electricity pulsates between us, and she pulls her bottom lip between her teeth.
I step into the shower, closing the distance between us. She trembles at our proximity, and I can't hide my excitement. She looks up at me from beneath her dark lashes, and it occurs to me that she is innocent. When I first saw her, I assumed she was walking sex, but she isn't. She doesn't know what to do, and it makes everything more exciting for me. I tilt her chin up so she is staring into my eyes.
"I am going to kiss you," I warn her.
"Please don't," she whimpers.
"Will you slap me if I do?" I muse. She doesn't answer, but she does close her eyes. It is an invitation. I lean down, and her breath fans against my skin.
"What the fuck," Edward shouts from behind me.
I immediately step away from Macy and walk past my brother as if nothing happened.
Graydon growls in my mind when we hear Edward taunting her behind us. I should turn around to save her, but I don't. Edward is right. She is wrong for us.
