Edward POV
It is getting late, and I am getting restless in this small apartment. Macy's scent is everywhere, and my lycan, Dever, is getting impatient with my attitude. He wants her despite the fact that she is only a werewolf. He knows that being with her can only end in heartbreak, but he is insistent.
I am doing my best to keep myself under control so Winston doesn't see how much I want her. A mate would only ruin the plans I have made for us.
Winston and I don't belong here. I may look stupid, but I have done my research. From the moment we shifted into lycans for the first time at sixteen, I have been looking for others like us. Spoiler alert: there aren't any.
I have almost narrowed down the location of the portal between the Human realm and the Immortal realm. Once I find it, we can step through and be with others like us. Having a mortal mate only complicates things. We would have to leave her behind.
"How did she taste?" Winston asks out of nowhere.
I have been trying to get the sinful taste of her skin out of my mouth all day. No matter what I eat or drink, it remains on my tongue, taunting me like a forbidden fruit.
"You spent the night with her," I shrug. "You know what she tastes like."
"No," Winston signs. "I don't."
Sitting up on the couch, I stare at my brother in disbelief. "If you didn't fuck her, what did you do?"
"Sleep," he replies. "She calms my lycan."
"Huh," I grunt, lying back down. I would never admit that she does the same to me so easily.
My phone digs, and I see a text message from Anita. "Party at my place. Bring booze."
I put my phone back in my pocket without responding. Winston eyes me suspiciously but doesn't say anything.
Finally, Macy comes through the door. Her skin is covered in sweat, and her hair is unruly. It reminds me of when we were three, and she bit me on the hand, claiming her wolf told her to do it. I can't help but smile at the memory. If I remember correctly, I was crying because she bit me, and Winston was crying because he didn't get bit. Did she really know at three that we were going to be her mates?
She doesn't speak to us as she moves through the apartment. She grabs a bottle of water and drinks it all at once. Her free hand is doing something odd at her side like she is petting something invisible. It is that odd behavior that earned her the nickname Crazy Macy.
Her hand stops moving, and she closes her eyes tightly. "I need a shower," she finally speaks.
"Wear something nice," I tell her. "We are going to a party at Anita's."
Choking on her water, she pounds on her chest. "No, thank you."
"Why not?" I ask.
"Because I am Crazy Macy. No one likes me," she replies, disappearing into the bedroom. "Crazy Macy doesn't go to parties."
Winston hovers outside of the door, but I barge in. She is already stripping off her clothes. Leaning back against the wall, I enjoy the show.
"Leave," she snaps at me as she wiggles out of her jeans.
I bite my tongue to stop from groaning. The sight of her in black lace panties and a matching bra is enough to make my cock spring to life.
"I think I will stay," I smirk.
"Whatever," she grumbles.
She tries to shut the bathroom door behind her, but I am fast and stop her with my foot.
"Edward," she pouts. "I'm tired, and my feet hurt. Leave me alone."
My name sounds sexy on her lips, but I try not to focus too hard on that. "I am just trying to see what the Moon Goddess gifted me."
Her eyes are blazing red when she turns to me. I have never seen anything like it before. "Just go," she growls. "Party, get drunk, be popular, and betray the mate bond. Don't let Crazy Macy hold you back."
"You really don't want anything to do with us," Winston says sadly.
"I have already told you I don't," she snaps at him. "But you won't listen."
"Do you hear that, Winston? She thinks she can deny the mate bond," I chuckle.
Macy's eyes widen as I look back at her. Her eyes are still glowing red as I step toward her. "Don't come near me," she hisses through her teeth.
"Is that you or your wolf speaking?" I muse.
"Both," she growls.
"How old is your wolf again?" I tease her.
"597," she whispers.
I reach out and run my finger under her bra strap, pulling it off her shoulder. She tenses under my touch, but she doesn't protest. "So, it would stand to reason that Nyx knows what it is like to have sex, but you don't."
Macy's jaw ticks, and I laugh. I have hit a nerve. "You don't know anything about me or what I have done."
I slip behind her and pull down the other strap. The cups of her bra are slowly falling down, and I can see Winston's eyes darken from the other side of the room. He would never be brave enough to do this without me here. I run my fingers down her spine and flick open the clasp of her bra.
A tiny gasp escapes from her mouth, and she quickly crosses her arms over her chest to prevent us from seeing her. I can see Winston frowning. Reaching around, I grab her wrists and pull them away from her body. The bra slips down her arms, and she winces.
"I think you have a few more scars for us to take care of," I whisper into her ear.
"They are fine," she mutters. "I like them."
"We don't," I growl into her ear. "Winston," I call him forward.
Winston's eyes widen, and he looks afraid. "I can't. I am not as strong as you."
Macy cocks her head to the side and looks at him. She pulls away from me, and I let her go. Her bra falls to the ground. She tries to keep her head high but I can see the waiver in her step. I watch as she tries to remain confident as she approaches Winston.
She sweeps the stray hairs off her shoulders and turns her next to the side. "I think you are strong enough," she whispers.
Winston looks at me, and I shrug my shoulders. I have no idea what is going on. Macy hates us, but here she is almost naked, waiting for Winston to lick a scar on her chest.
Then Winston does the unthinkable. He backs away from her and walks out of the bedroom. Macy's shoulders sag, and she wraps her arms around herself. She turns to me, and I can tell she is trying to keep herself from crying.
"Go," she whimpers.
I decide not to torment her anymore and leave the room. Winston is shuffling by the door. "We need to go."
"What the fuck is going on?" I growl at him. "I just served her to you on a platter."
"Just get me out of here," he groans.
"Where to?" I shrug.
"Somewhere to get drunk," he demands.
A smile creeps over my face. "Say less."
