My mom is coming

Ch. 94 / 286 Apr 29, 2026

"I bagged the contract for you, Desmond." Daniella began. "She was never the one. She went to the back through her ways and did the dirty job. She can do anything just to get back to you. She's jealous and she is fighting you. I don't know why you have not acted on it. If you keep quite, she will do more."

"You know what? Let's stop talking about this. Just avoid her please." Desmond said and turned to enter the bathroom.

"Before I forget, I want to let you know that my mother will be coming to stay with us for a while." He heard Daniella spoke from his back and stopped, then turned in confusion.

"Is like I didn't hear you well, what did you say?" Desmond asked.

"You heard me, Desmond. I said my mom Will be coming over to stay with us for a while." Daniella repeated.

"I can't believe you are the one saying this." Desmond shook his head.

"Why are you saying so? I'm talking about my mother."

"Who did you discussed that with?" Desmond asked.

"I'm telling you now."

"Just like that?"

"I just want to let you know. Not that I'm taking permission." She shrugged.

"You must be joking."

"Do I look like someone who is joking with you?" Daniella said and that was when Desmond knew that she was serious.

"She's not coming. We can't have her stay with us. Tell her that she should relax in her house. Your mom is not coming." Desmond declared.

"You can't say that, Desmond. Besides, It's just for a short while. She's going through a rough time and needed a place to stay, and staying here is the best option." Daniella replied.

"Daniella, you know I've been under a lot of stress lately. I don't need anyone giving me more headaches. I have a lot to think about. Tell your mom to cancel the trip if she's preparing. She won't be staying with us."

"We are talking about my mother, Desmond. She's my mother. I can't just turn my back on her when she needed me." She tried to hold his hand and Desmond pulled his hand away. "Daniella, it's not just about turning our back or your back on her. Having her here will add to my responsibilities. I'm already juggling so much at work and other things."

"I understand you are stressed," Daniella replied, her voice soothing. "But my mother won't be a burden at all. She's coming for good. She's very independent and can take care of herself."

Desmond shook his head. "It's not just about independence. It's about the extra person in my house, the added pressure to accommodate her needs."

"I can't believe you are saying all these things. My mother is not an outsider. She's family. She's done so much for me. Can't we do this one thing for her?"

"Daniella, I can't deal with another responsibility right now. Work has been crazy, and I need to focus on my own well-being. You need to understand."

"Your well-being is important," Daniella said and folded her arm. "But so is my mother's. She's having a hard time, and we have the space to help her. It won't be forever."

"Even if it's temporary, it's still added stress. We need our space and peace to get through this tough time." Desmond said. He was not even moved to change his mind. Daniella thought he would Just accept. She didn't know he would be that stubborn.

"Desmond, I'm not asking for much. Maybe having my mother here can help," Daniella suggested. "She can help with chores, cooking, and even offer some emotional support."

"I'm not complaining. You made me kick my mother and sister out. Now you want to bring your mother in? Like seriously?"

"Now I know why you are feeling stubborn."

"So it's not enough?" Desmond asked. "You said you needed some space. That you want to be alone. Now you want to bring your mother. It's not going to work."

"My mother is different. She's not a troublesome woman. She's Sweet and peaceful unlike your mother and sister who wanted to hurt me and our baby."

"My mother and sister are good people." Desmond defended. "You don't just like them around you. I sent them away because I want us to be in peace. Now you want your mother to come and you think I will allow that? I won't let that happen." Desmond declared.
