Vanya's POV
I stood atop the high-rise of the building, quietly watching the backs of Melinda and her two companions as they gradually faded into the distance.
At that moment, the security guard called me, inquiring, "Ms. Dalton, three people just arrived at the entrance, claiming to be your friends. Should I allow them in?"
"No, and if they come again in the future, get them away," I responded decisively.
"I see, Ms. Dalton."
After hanging up the phone, I heard Theodore's steady voice from inside the room, "Just let them go like that?"
"What else can we do? Engage in a heated argument downstairs?" I shrugged.
I was truly unwilling to waste my time on such boring people.
I was also quite puzzled. In my previous life, I had tried every means to get close to Cliff, and at that time, Melinda did not consider me a threat.
But after my rebirth, when I no longer wanted to be near Cliff, Melinda started to target me.
However, no matter how much she schemed, the person Cliff cared about most was probably still her, and this might be hard to change.
After all, in this life, without my interference, their relationship seemed smooth and destined to be together.
So, for any matters concerning Melinda in the future, I planned to remain indifferent and not get involved to avoid unnecessary trouble for myself.
"But why did you suddenly have time to come by today?" I walked over and sat across from Theodore, brewing a cup of coffee for him.
"Derrick called me in a hurry this morning, saying that someone was slandering you at school. He called again at noon and said that you almost had a conflict with someone in the cafeteria, so I came to check on the situation," Theodore narrated with a serious expression.
I couldn't help but admire Derrick's exaggeration skills. His art of embellishment was truly masterful.
"Nonsense, how could I possibly get into a fight in the cafeteria? Don't listen to his nonsense," I explained.
"But the rumor-mongering is true," Theodore looked at me meaningfully. "Women who are too good-tempered can easily be bullied."
I didn't take Theodore's words to heart, thinking he was just teasing me.
The next day, on my way to school, I saw Melinda standing at the classroom door in a white dress, seemingly waiting for someone.
After the series of unpleasant events from yesterday, I decided to have no further involvement with Melinda.
So when I saw her at the classroom door, I pretended not to see her and walked straight towards the classroom door.
"Luna Vanya!" Melinda urgently called out to me.
I stopped and stared at her expressionlessly, asking, "What is it?"
Melinda bit her lip, looking as if she had something hard to say.
"Luna Vanya, I'm really sorry about yesterday," she lowered her head, her voice soft. "I didn't expect Raven to say those things about you. They all misunderstood you."
"And you?" I looked at her with a half-smile, seeing through her calculations.
Melinda seemed intimidated by my gaze and quickly shook her head. "No, I don't think that way about you, Luna Vanya. I was trying to stop them yesterday, to explain..."
Her eyes sparkled with what seemed to be sincerity, but I knew it was just a facade she was putting on.
Watching Melinda perform so devotedly, I found it quite interesting.
I wanted to see what other stories she could come up with.
Seeing that I remained silent, Melinda suddenly reached out, holding my hands, and said with a grievance, "Luna Vanya, you won't blame me, will you?"
"Of course not. You are Cliff's student. How could I blame you?" I said indifferently, "Go back to class. I won't tell Cliff about this."
I knew she was just afraid that I would complain to Cliff, affecting her image in his heart.
Melinda's POV
Hearing Vanya's stance, I finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Vanya didn't say anything more to me and turned to go to the classroom.
At that moment, I inadvertently looked up and saw Fawn staring at Vanya and me with a dazed expression.
Fawn stood there, her face full of confusion.
Instinctively, I dropped to my knees, tightly hugged Vanya's leg, and pleaded, "Please! Don't take revenge on me and my friends!"
Vanya frowned, clearly very dissatisfied with my behavior.
Students in the classroom stretched their heads out to look, and even people from other classes on the same floor were attracted, curiously watching the scene.
Tears streamed down my face as I continued to wail, "I can give you anything you want, but can you not take my boyfriend away? I love him so much!"
I knew this scene would definitely attract everyone's attention, and that was the effect I wanted.
I wanted everyone to stand on my side, to see Vanya as the bad party.
