Vanya's POV
Cliff probably didn't expect that I would really cook. I saw his hand holding the coffee cup pause, and his gaze couldn't help but be cast towards me.
I was busy, but my heart was in all kinds of moods.
As the daughter of an Alpha, I have been served meticulously by Omegas and servants since I was a child, and I never needed to set foot in the kitchen.
After marrying Cliff in my previous life, I believed Veronica's words, thinking that to capture a man's heart, I had to first capture his stomach. So, I, who had never touched the edge of the kitchen, started to try cooking in various ways.
But what was the result?
Cliff never tasted the food I made, and his heart was always with Melinda. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't enter his world.
After breakfast was ready, I saw Cliff frown when he saw there was no portion for him and asked, "Where's mine?"
"If you want to eat, make it yourself," I said in a bad tone.
The resentment in my heart was like a volcano about to erupt, always on the verge of breaking out.
Cliff was obviously a bit angry, and he raised his voice and shouted, "Vanya!"
I completely ignored him, sat down at the dining table, and slowly tore pieces of bread and put them in my mouth.
I knew that since I was no longer in love with him and no longer harbored any illusions about him, I didn't need to try so hard to please him and cater to his wishes as I used to.
"I'm done eating," I said after finishing my meal, took the dishes to the kitchen, and then picked up a small bag to prepare to go out.
"What are you going to do?" Cliff asked.
"I have a class in the morning," I responded without turning my head.
"Take a leave," his tone was non-negotiable, as if he was giving an order that could not be disobeyed.
"Cliff, is there something wrong with your brain?" I finally couldn't suppress the anger in my heart and turned to glare at him angrily.
Since this morning, his attitude has been particularly abnormal. First, he gave Jenny a day off, then he asked me to make breakfast, and now he wanted me to take a leave. What on earth did he want to do?
After a while, Cliff said, "Tell me about that piece of land."
Finally, he got to the key point. I thought he wasn't going to mention it.
No wonder he was so abnormal today. It was still for the sake of profit.
"I have already sold that piece of land," I said calmly.
"Sold? Who did you sell it to?" A trace of surprise flashed in his eyes, followed by deep suspicion.
"It's my personal property, and I don't need to explain it to you," I looked at him with a provocative meaning, and I just didn't want to let him succeed easily.
"Vanya!" His voice became colder and colder, as if it could make the surrounding air condense, "Do you know how valuable that piece of land is now?"
"Not quite clear. I only know that the land has been accumulating in my hands for a long time, so I was eager to get rid of it. Someone was willing to take over and buy it, and I was naturally happy to sell it," I replied.
But I was secretly delighted in my heart. Seeing him so anxious and helpless, I couldn't help but feel a trace of pleasure.
"You!" He was so angry that he was speechless for a moment.
Seeing his appearance, I continued to add fuel to the fire and said, "What's the matter, Alpha Cliff? Didn't you used to despise that piece of land? Now you think it's valuable?"
Cliff took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.
He asked again, "Who did you sell it to?"
Seeing me silent, he asked again, "Did you know that the land would be planned into the green zone?"
His gaze was tightly locked on me, as if to see through me.
"I thought about it all night, and I really can't think of another possibility. You spent the inheritance your father left you to buy a piece of land in the sewage area. This is an act that only a madman would do! Before, I also thought you were crazy, but now it seems to me that this is something you did on purpose."
"Don't be ridiculous, Alpha Cliff. I don't have your smart brain, nor do I have your broad vision. How could I have such a long-term vision? I just bought a piece of land and played with it casually. You think too much."
I tried my best to make my tone sincere and earnest, trying to mislead him.
As expected, Cliff also had a moment of doubt.
Because he was not willing to believe that I had that kind of view.
Seeing Cliff no longer speaking, I didn't want to continue to confront him here, so I asked, "Can I go now?"
"Not yet," his answer surprised me again.
"What now?" I impatiently glanced at the time, and I was very anxious. The distance from here to Wolfe was not short, and if I delayed any further, I would definitely be late!
"I let Elliot take a leave for you, and I will go shopping with you later," his words made me simply unable to believe my ears.
"Go shopping?" I looked at him like an idiot, full of doubts and confusion.
He stared at me coldly and explained word by word, "Take photos to show off. Do you think acting only once at the press conference is enough? Do you know how serious the impact of your nightclub private meeting with a man's news has on the company?"
