Vania's POV
The next morning, a sudden and urgent knocking on the door, like a sharp alarm, forcefully pulled me out of my sweet dreams.
I groggily rubbed my sleepy eyes, slipped on my slippers, and unsteadily walked towards the door to open it.
The deliveryman stood politely at the door, handing over a package with a smile, and said, "Miss Dalton, here is your delivery."
"Mine?" I furrowed my brows slightly, my eyes filled with confusion as I looked at the security guard with a bewildered expression.
The security guard, upon seeing the situation, quickly and patiently explained, "It was something sent to you by your friend."
"My friend?" I was even more puzzled, confusion written all over my eyes as I pondered in my mind who it could possibly be.
"Who is it? It's too early in the morning to disturb my sleep," Grace was also awakened from her sleep by the knocking at the door.
She lazily rubbed her eyes, yawned, and sleepily walked out of the room. Glancing at the cardboard box on the floor, she asked with a hint of dissatisfaction in her tone, "What is this?"
"I don't know, let's open and see." I was filled with curiosity and reached out to open the box. An instantly familiar smell rushed straight into my nose.
I was first stunned, with a hint of surprise on my face.
Grace sniffed, her nose twitching slightly, a hint of doubt appearing on her face as she said, "This smell... is it blue cheese?"
In the past tense as the reference tense, the following paragraph can be faithfully translated into English as:
As the box was opened, the unique scent, mixed with a strong fragrance and a stimulating odor, quickly permeated the air.
"Wow, who would have sent you a box of blue cheese for no reason?" Grace's eyes lit up instantly, and she excitedly picked up a piece of cheese, bringing it close to her nose and sniffing it hard.
She had a satisfied expression on her face and then said with an approving look, "This blue cheese, the taste is really rich!"
Afterwards, Grace turned her head to look at the deliveryman, raising her eyebrows slightly and asking, "Who is this from?"
The courier answered neither quickly nor slowly, "It was a gentleman who asked me to deliver it."
"Sir?" Grace turned her head, her eyes filled with a hint of curiosity, looking at me with a slight smile on her lips, and asked, "What's going on? Are there other people pursuing you?"
I shook my head helplessly, my mind in a state of confusion, not having a clue about who had sent this blue-veined cheese.
In the past days, there were not many men who had any connection with me. Since I got married to Cliff, I haven't had any contact with other men.
Besides, who would just randomly send so much blue cheese over?
"Tsk tsk, giving a girl blue cheese, I really don't understand what this man is thinking. His emotional intelligence is too low!" Grace pouted and said with a disgusted expression, "Theodore is much better, Theodore would never do something stupid like this!"
I hadn't had a chance to say anything when suddenly my phone rang with Theodore's incoming call.
"Hello?" I answered the phone, confused.
"Did you receive the package?" Theodore's voice on the phone was calm and serious.
I glanced at Grace, who had a curious look on her face, and then looked at the blue cheese in her hand. There was doubt in my eyes as I asked, "These blue cheeses... could it be that you brought them?"
"Do you like it?" Theodore asked.
I opened my mouth, and for a moment, I didn't know how to answer.
Did you like it? Blue cheese indeed had a unique flavor, but why did they randomly give me cheese?
"Grace actually quite liked it," I said, with a hint of resignation in my tone.
"And what about you?" Theodore pressed on.
"...likes it too." I glanced at Grace again, and she immediately understood that the whole box of blue cheese on the floor was sent by her foolish brother.
Grace's eyes widened instantly. She snatched the phone and shouted at Theodore on the other end, "Are you stupid? Don't ever say you're my brother when you go out!"
After saying that, Grace angrily hung up the phone immediately.
I was stunned, I hadn't figured out why Grace was getting angry, and she said angrily, "This guy must have a problem in his head to think of giving blue cheese to a girl!"
I awkwardly chuckled twice and said, "Perfect, I also really want to eat blue cheese."
"This is not the same thing!" Grace frowned and replied firmly.
"Didn't Grace sister say she wanted to eat blue cheese yesterday? This is perfect timing," I said as I reached out to grab the blue cheese, afraid that Grace would be mad at Theodore.
Grace clenched her fists in anger.
"Vania, please don't misunderstand. Theodore doesn't usually interact with girls, so he doesn't know how to please them. This idea, it definitely wasn't his!" Grace explained earnestly.
"I know," I nodded slightly, perplexed as to why Theodore would suddenly want to give me blue cheese for no reason.
Grace looked bewildered, her eyes wide open. "You know?"
"It can be figured out with just a toe, this must be Derek's idea," I confidently said.
