Vanya's POV
I headed straight for the cafeteria, looking for an empty seat.
I spotted a free seat at the back and planned to take it.
As I approached the three of them, I only then noticed Melinda, who was deliberately keeping her head down to eat and trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible.
At that moment, Raven abruptly stood up, blocking my way.
"Excuse me, do we know each other?" I tried my best to make my voice sound gentle and soft, with a faint smile on my lips.
However, there was no real amusement in my heart. I knew she meant trouble.
"A call girl like you, of course, I don't know you, but I bet everyone else does," Raven deliberately raised her voice, loud enough for those around us to hear clearly.
The incident with the school bulletin board had already been the talk of the day, and almost half the school was aware of it.
I didn't get angry right away. I was curious to see what else she might say.
Raven continued, "I think people like you, who rely on their looks to climb the ladder through improper relationships, should get out of Wolfe as soon as possible. This is not a place for you. Stop bringing shame to our school!"
"Exactly. If this matter gets to the education department and they send someone to investigate, you'll be in trouble, and the teachers who helped you get into the school will suffer too." Fawn chimed in, supporting Raven.
But I noticed Melinda, whose unease was about to overflow.
I raised my eyebrows and looked at Melinda, who was sitting silently in her chair.
'Others might not know who I am, but does she not know?'
Under my gaze, Melinda became guilty. She whispered, "Raven, don't wrong someone without evidence..."
"Melinda, stay out of this!" Raven thought she was upholding justice.
She sneered, "A woman like you, who steals other people's boyfriends and tries to latch onto rich guys, doesn't deserve any courtesy!"
"Oh?" I glanced at Melinda, and her face turned extremely awkward in an instant.
Accusations of being a homewrecker and a gold-digger... this was the first time such descriptions had been applied to me. It was quite novel.
"Raven, please stop talking..." Melinda looked like she was about to cry.
To others, this expression seemed like she had suffered a great injustice.
"Melinda, don't be afraid! With me here, she can't do anything to you." Raven glared at me and said loudly, "Don't think I don't know why you came to this school. It's for Melinda, isn't it? As long as I'm around, you'll never bully her!"
This commotion caused quite a stir, and soon a crowd gathered around us.
"What's all the noise about?" A cold voice suddenly cut through the air.
I saw the surrounding crowd quickly make way, and when I turned around, I was surprised to see Wilmot approaching.
This was the student cafeteria, frequented by students from ordinary backgrounds.
Although Wolfe was considered a noble school, there were different social strata within it.
Students like Melinda, who had little income, could only afford to come to this cost-effective cafeteria.
The truly wealthy students rarely appeared here.
So, seeing Wilmot here was quite a shock.
I was full of doubts. Why would Wilmot be here?
Could it be that, like me, he didn't want to be too ostentatious and came to experience the life of ordinary students?
But come on! I couldn't believe that was the case.
"W... Wilmot?" Raven's voice was full of surprise and disbelief, as if she was trying to confirm that the person standing in front of her was indeed Wilmot.
Once she was sure, her previously aggressive aura disappeared in an instant.
Wilmot coldly glanced at Raven, his eyes showing no concealment of his disgust and contempt for her, as if looking at an annoying little bug.
Melinda quickly stood up and stepped in front of Raven.
She said, "Wilmot, it's all a misunderstanding. Raven meant no harm."
"When did you have the right to speak?" Wilmot scolded Melinda.
Melinda's face darkened.
Wilmot's favoritism towards me was now obvious to everyone present.
I saw Raven's eyes filled with jealous rage.
"You b*tch, what tricks did you use to bewitch Wilmot? Wilmot, do you know this woman is a third party? She also steals other's boyfriends. She's a call girl!"
Raven shouted, but Wilmot's gaze became colder.
Raven seemed to be frightened by his icy look, her body trembling.
Wilmot coldly said, "I never hit women, but if you say one more word, I can give it a try."
Seeing Raven's frightened appearance, I said, "Before sticking up for others, it's best to understand the situation. Don't end up being used as a pawn and becoming a laughingstock."
Raven frowned, clearly not grasping the deeper meaning of my words, while Melinda's face turned pale beside her.
