Vania's POV
With my reminder, Grace's eyes suddenly lit up, instantly revealing a look of sudden realization.
Grace instantly flew into a rage, with her hands on her hips, "You wait, I will go find him and settle the score!"
I couldn't stop Grace at all. She was wearing pajamas, dragging her slippers, and rushed out in a hurry.
I was about to chase after her, but I saw her directly knocking on the door of the next room.
"Derek! Come out! Derek!" Grace shouted at the top of her lungs, her voice incredibly loud.
Derek scratched his messy hair, sleepily opened the door, furrowed his brow, and impatiently asked, "Who is making noise at the door so early in the morning? Don't you let people sleep!"
Derek opened the door and, upon seeing Grace, he immediately froze, his eyes widened, his mouth slightly agape, and his face filled with astonishment.
He seemed to think that he had seen it wrong, so he closed the door again, opened it carefully and looked again, confirming that the person in front of him was indeed Grace.
Derek stuttered and asked, "H-h-how did you come here?"
Grace grabbed Derek's ear, her eyes filled with anger, and said, "So you taught Theodore how to chase girls, huh? Let me tell you, if my little sister, who I was about to win over, flies away, you can expect to get punched by me!"
"Derek, shouldn't you explain the current situation to me properly?" I leaned against the wall, crossed my arms, and stared directly at Derek.
Derek looked at Grace, who had a furious expression on her face, then looked at me. He swallowed and beads of sweat started to form on his forehead.
Derek did not dare to neglect, and quickly invited me and Grace into the house.
The decoration in Derek's house looked brand new, indicating that he had recently moved in.
"Please have a seat, both of you." Derek nodded and bowed, inviting us to sit on the sofa. The mighty Alpha of the black thorn wolf pack appeared before us, like a humble little brother.
Grace's face flashed with a hint of guilt and annoyance, and her eyes seemed to avoid something.
Derek sat across from me, cleared his throat, and his gaze shifted slightly as he said, "So, here's the thing. My previous place was really far from Wolf International School of Finance, and it was inconvenient for me to occasionally teach you guys, right? That's why Theodore suggested that I buy this house for you, and I also took the opportunity to buy myself a set."
I raised an eyebrow, not believing Derek's explanation at all. "Then why didn't you say it before?"
"I don't think there's much to say about this..." Derek said, desperately signaling to Grace beside him, his eyes filled with plea.
Grace understood it perfectly and a smile appeared on her face as she started speaking on behalf of Derek. She said to me, "Yes, yes, that's exactly what it means. You know, Derek is lazy, it's absolutely impossible for him to wake up early or come home late. This has nothing to do with Theodore, really!"
Upon hearing Grace's words, Derek covered his eyes, looking helpless and too embarrassed to look.
Grace not speaking was already bad enough, but once she opened her mouth, there was no way to explain it anymore!
"Was it Theodore who sent you here to monitor me?" I stared at Derek intently, questioning.
"No no no! That's not what I meant. How could Theodore possibly be monitoring you? He is worried about you, a girl living alone here, so he asked Derek to move in. It's not only for convenience, but also to take care of your daily life!" Grace blurted out everything.
Derek couldn't help but speak up finally, "Why don't you just stop talking?"
Grace glared at Derek fiercely, and Derek immediately shut his mouth, not daring to say another word.
"Alright, let's just leave it at that. I'll pretend I don't know anything, and that should be enough, right?" I didn't want to make things too difficult for Derek and Grace.
Grace nodded vigorously like a chick pecking at grains, and in Derek's eyes, happiness seemed to burst out like stars.
I returned to my room and looked at the whole box of blue cheese on the floor. I hesitated for a while and finally sent a message to Theodore: "Thank you for the blue cheese, I really liked it, but please don't send it again next time."
I pursed my lips lightly, thinking that some things didn't need to be said too explicitly, and Theodore, being such a smart person, should be able to understand what I meant.
In the evening, Grace's new real estate project went on sale and a banquet was held at a luxury hotel in New York.
Grace had a certain status in her family, so the sale of the new building attracted many people to come.
After receiving the invitation, I also arrived at the scene. I was wearing a long dress in a water lake blue color, and I stood out from the crowd. Just by standing there, I naturally became the center of attention.
"Vania!" Grace, wearing high heels, ran towards me from a distance and jumped straight into my arms, giving me a big bear hug.
Derek, who was carrying Grace's skirt behind her, could barely keep up with Grace's pace.
"Slow down! You are still wearing high heels!" Derek shouted anxiously.
Grace, however, didn't care at all and said, "This time, with the opening of the real estate project, I can easily make billions, so I'm already happy in advance, you know?"
"Derek never said a single 'no' to Grace."
