Melinda's POV
I followed the direction Vanya had left earlier.
After walking for a short while, I heard the voice of some ones chatting.
"I have to say, you're really brilliant. How did you make this? Congratulations!" It was Derrick's voice, and I could tell that his tone was full of admiration.
Then Vanya's voice followed, and she also raised her glass.
The door to the room was ajar due to the serving of dishes.
I approached and peeked in to see Vanya and Theodore sitting on one side, seemingly very close to each other, with Theodore taking the opportunity to hand Vanya a napkin as she raised her glass.
My heart was filled with doubts. What was the relationship between Vanya, Theodore, and Derrick?
How could they be dining together?
And they seemed so intimate.
Had Vanya already betrayed Cliff?
If that was the case, this was my perfect opportunity. I must tell Cliff about this and make him completely disappointed in Vanya.
"Miss, are you looking for the restroom? It's over there," a waiter suddenly spoke behind me, startling me.
This unexpected voice also caught Vanya's attention inside the room. My heart was in turmoil, and I ran away hurriedly.
With an uneasy mood, I returned to the original private room. My behavior instantly attracted the attention of those around me.
I tried to encourage myself in my heart. I must remain calm, and I must not let them see my panic.
I knew this was a crucial "battle". If I could successfully incite Cliff's dissatisfaction with Vanya, then replacing her as Cliff's mate would take a big step forward.
I barely steadied my nerves and sat down slowly.
Cliff soon noticed my strangeness and asked with concern, "Are you feeling unwell?"
I slightly lowered my head, lowered my voice, and pretended to be weak and embarrassed, saying, "Alpha Cliff, I, I just saw Vanya."
As I said this, my heartbeat accelerated uncontrollably. I was both expecting Cliff's reaction and afraid he would see through my thoughts.
I observed Cliff and saw a flash of surprise in his eyes.
He must be surprised by Vanya's presence here.
This might be a good sign, indicating that he did not know Vanya's whereabouts.
"Vanya?" There was a hint of astonishment in Cliff's voice.
I nodded and continued with difficulty, "It's not just Vanya I saw, but also the two men I saw at the auction last time. One of them... seemed very close to Vanya."
I knew that as long as I mentioned the auction, Cliff would definitely think of Theodore.
This would successfully arouse his anger.
I looked at Cliff again and noticed his brow furrowed, and a hint of doubt began to appear in his eyes. I couldn't help but feel a little complacent. It seemed my plan was gradually taking effect.
As expected, I saw a flash of cold light in his eyes, and that icy gaze made me shiver. At the same time, I was delighted. My plan seemed to be working.
Cliff suddenly stood up and strode towards the door without hesitation.
I followed him, and at that moment, I could feel the puzzled and curious eyes of the people around me like arrows shooting at me.
But I didn't care about that anymore.
I stared at Cliff's back. His upright yet angry posture made me both awed and excited.
I was looking forward to the scene of him confronting Vanya, and even more looking forward to Vanya losing his trust.
"Just ahead," I pretended to be calm and led the way, but in my heart, I was constantly thinking about what to say and how to act if I really saw Vanya to make Cliff hate her more.
I glanced at Cliff from time to time and saw his face becoming gloomier and his eyes colder.
I knew the anger in his heart was burning fiercely, and I was the one who ignited the fire. This feeling of controlling the situation made me a bit elated.
But at the same time, there was a trace of worry, afraid that things would go beyond my expectations.
Cliff pushed the door open without hesitation.
Inside, Theodore and Derrick were casually clinking glasses and drinking.
Derrick, seeing Cliff suddenly enter, asked blankly, "Alpha Cliff?"
I looked around and didn't see Vanya, feeling a bit disappointed.
But soon I noticed the third set of tableware on the table, as if grasping the last straw, and hurriedly said, "Alpha Cliff, the tableware is still here."
As I spoke, I paid attention to Cliff's expression. His gaze was tightly locked on that set of tableware, and his eyes became even colder.
I could feel his anger had reached a new level.
I prayed in my heart, hoping this would become strong evidence to completely undermine Vanya's position in his heart.
