Vanya's POV
"Vanya, you've never been in the loop on this. Naturally, you wouldn't know so much," Mirabel said, her eyes flickering with avarice.
I let out a soft sigh, a look of regret crossing my face as I spoke, "Aldridge, why didn't you tell me sooner? It's too late now."
"What do you mean by that?" Mirabel's nerves tightened, her voice rising.
Even Aldridge grew tense, asking, "Vanya, you wouldn't have..."
"The property was sold three hours ago," I said, watching their faces pale as I spoke, a cold smile playing in my heart.
"What?!" Mirabel couldn't help but scream, her voice filled with shock and anger.
"Actually, I bought that land out of spite when I thought you were checking my bank account records, as if I were a child who hadn't grown up. I was angry and just bought the land," I shrugged.
I watched Aldridge flinch, and Mirabel's face turned gloomy.
I continued, "I've always felt it was a loss. I didn't expect that the land was in a polluted area. I've been trying to sell this polluted area, but no one wanted it. Today, Theodore came to buy the land, and I was overjoyed, afraid he'd change his mind, so I signed the contract with him right away. Now, the money is in my hands, and the land is his."
I spoke with the utmost regret as if it were true.
Mirabel hurriedly clutched Aldridge's sleeve, "What, what can we do about this?"
I inwardly sneered. 'Of course, she wouldn't want to let such a good piece of cake go to others.'
"Can we get it back?"
Aldridge asked hesitantly, probingly.
I shook my head, my tone firm, "Not a chance."
Seeing this, Mirabel became desperate and rushed forward, "Why don't you talk to Theodore again? Can we go back on our word?"
I inwardly sneered, but kept a serious, thoughtful expression on my face, saying, "The land is of no consequence to me, whether it's managed or not. Since Mirabel so desperately wants this land, why don't you let Aldridge go talk to Theodore and see if he can transfer the land?"
As soon as I finished speaking, I noticed Mirabel's mouth twitch, her previously aggressive demeanor vanishing in an instant.
Aldridge chimed in, "Theodore is ruthless. I dare not compete with him for that land!"
I knew Aldridge's character well, knowing he had no courage to deal with someone as tough and intimidating in business as Theodore.
Seeing Aldridge's stance, Mirabel was full of anger and helplessness, glaring at him as if to say, "You're such a coward."
I said, "Mirabel, there's no need to be so anxious. It's just a piece of land. How valuable can it be? Besides, our Dalton family has such a huge enterprise. Even if we do nothing, the wealth is enough for the family members to enjoy for several generations. Do we really need that piece of land?"
"Exactly, I didn't think it was necessary either," Aldridge agreed, about to sit down.
Hearing this, Mirabel turned red with anger, stamped her foot hard, and stormed off.
I calmly picked up a cup of coffee and took a sip. 'Trying to get benefits from me easily? It's a pipe dream.'
Not long after, I left. Outside the door, Theodore's car was still parked, not yet driven away.
I walked up, knocked on the car window, and asked, "What's going on here?"
"Derek said we should celebrate today," Theodore replied.
"I didn't say that. He wants to celebrate!" Derek unmercifully exposed the truth.
I thought for a moment, then said, "We should celebrate."
Theodore smiled and said, "A private room at the Four Seasons Hotel has been booked. Ms. Dalton, get in the car."
"My pleasure," I responded gladly.
Cliff's POV
In the afternoon, I had a business dinner to attend.
Elliot drove me past the entrance of Wolfe.
Subconsciously, I looked at the bustling crowd of students on campus, and at that moment, Vanya's image inexplicably appeared in my mind.
I was quite surprised at that moment, not understanding why I suddenly thought of her.
I knew Vanya was my Luna, but she was not my true mate.
But now, the hidden wolf instinct in my heart seemed to be stirring.
As if my wolf had sensed something, it let out a low whine in my heart.
"Stop the car," I blurted out almost without thinking, and even I was stunned by my own words.
