The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 659

Ch. 649 / 790 May 05, 2026

The cold air of Nyxthorn territory cut through Bella’s skin as she was dragged through the darkened woods, her chains clinking with each agonizing step. The sharp bite of the iron at her wrists sent searing pain through her limbs, but she refused to show weakness. Her body was bruised and battered from days of torment, but her spirit—despite everything—remained unbroken.

Esmera walked beside her, a cruel smile playing on her lips as she reveled in the control she had over Bella. Every step she took was calculated, every movement designed to humiliate and crush Bella further. The sound of the crowd’s murmurs grew louder as they approached the clearing where Nyxthorn’s warriors gathered. Bella knew what was coming. It was the culmination of Esmera’s plan—the public humiliation, the final degradation.

She was led into the center of the clearing, forced to kneel in front of a circle of Nyxthorn warriors, their eyes cold and judgmental. Bella’s heart pounded in her chest, but she held her head high, refusing to look down. The last thing Esmera would get from her was the satisfaction of seeing her broken.

Esmera stood above her, her voice dripping with venom as she addressed the crowd. “Here she is, the so-called Luna, the ‘heir’ of the Crimson Fang. A traitor. A fraud. A little rogue who thought she could play at being a leader.” Esmera’s laugh echoed through the clearing, mocking Bella’s every step.

The warriors surrounding them sneered, their eyes scanning Bella with disdain, as though she were nothing more than dirt beneath their feet. Some of them whispered among themselves, clearly enjoying the spectacle, but Bella refused to let their words break her. She wouldn’t give them that power.

“You’ve all heard the lies she’s told,” Esmera continued, her voice growing louder. “She’s no leader. She’s no Luna. She’s just a pathetic little toy for Kael—his weak, broken little mate. And now, we’re going to see her true nature.”

Bella’s jaw clenched as she heard Esmera’s words, but she remained silent. The more Esmera mocked her, the stronger Bella’s resolve grew. No matter what Esmera did, she wouldn’t break. Not now. Not ever.

The guards who had been holding her roughly pushed her down onto the ground, forcing her to remain kneeling, her face a mere inch away from the dirt. The humiliation was unbearable, but she refused to show it. She knew that if she allowed herself to break here, in front of these people, it would be the end of everything.

Esmera circled Bella like a predator eyeing its prey. “You see, all this time, I’ve been letting you think you had a chance. I’ve been letting you believe that you were worthy of Kael. But now, you’ll see the truth. You’re nothing. You’re worthless. Just a shadow of the true power I hold.”

Bella’s heart raced as Esmera’s words slithered into her mind, but she clung to the one thing that still remained—her love for Kael. No matter how much Esmera tried to tear her down, Bella knew one thing for certain: Kael would never see her as worthless. He loved her, and nothing, not even Esmera’s cruelty, could take that away.

Esmera bent down, her face inches from Bella’s, her words low and venomous. “You think Kael will come for you? You think he’s going to save you? He’s too late, Bella. I’ve already won.”

Bella didn’t respond, didn’t even flinch. She knew Esmera was trying to break her, to make her doubt Kael, to make her doubt everything she believed in. But Bella wouldn’t let her. She would hold onto her love for him, no matter what.

Esmera straightened, turning to address the crowd again. “And now, we will finish this little charade once and for all. We will show the Crimson Fang and Crescent Howl that their precious ‘Luna’ is nothing more than a plaything. A weak, pathetic girl who couldn’t even survive a trial of loyalty.”

The warriors around them nodded, murmuring in agreement, some even smiling at the thought of Bella’s downfall. Bella felt their eyes on her, the weight of their judgment heavy, but she refused to let their hatred affect her. She wouldn’t let Esmera win.

Esmera raised her hand, signaling the guards to bring forward a wooden stake, sharp and deadly, the symbol of Nyxthorn’s power. “This is how we deal with traitors in Nyxthorn,” she declared coldly. “We rid ourselves of them.”

The guards stepped forward, preparing to tie Bella to the stake, but as they moved toward her, a surge of power suddenly flared deep within her—an echo of her wolf that fought against the charm that suppressed it. It was faint, just a flicker, but Bella felt it. She wasn’t alone. Kael was coming for her. She could feel him. She had to hold on. She couldn’t let Esmera win.

Esmera raised her chin, satisfied with the scene before her. “And so, the rogue dies,” she announced with finality, her eyes cold and calculating. “Her mate won’t get here in time to save her. By morning, this will all be over.”
