The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 682

Ch. 672 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael sat beside Bella, his eyes filled with a mixture of desperation and love. He had tried everything to reach her, to bring her back to him, but nothing seemed to work. Her eyes remained blank, empty of recognition. Every word he spoke, every plea for her to remember, fell on deaf ears.

“Bella, please, you have to understand,” Kael said softly, his voice trembling as he reached out to her. “I’m not a stranger. I’m Kael, your mate. We’ve been through so much together. Please, you have to believe me.”

But Bella simply shook her head, her expression cold, distant. “I don’t know you,” she whispered, her voice almost mechanical. “I don’t know any of you.”

Kael’s heart broke all over again as he tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill. He couldn’t lose her—not like this. He had promised her that he would always be there, that he would protect her, but now it felt like she was slipping through his fingers, like he couldn’t reach her no matter how hard he tried.

Misery stood nearby, her face full of concern. She had been trying to comfort Bella, trying to remind her of the love they shared, but nothing had worked. Bella’s eyes had remained empty, the recognition and warmth that once filled them completely absent.

“Bella, it’s me,” Misery said gently, her voice cracking. “I’m your mother. I’ve been by your side your whole life. You remember me, don’t you?”

But Bella’s eyes flicked over to her mother, confusion written all over her face. “You… you’re my mother?” she asked, as if the words were foreign to her. “I don’t remember you.”

Misery’s face crumpled, her hands trembling as she stepped back. The pain of her daughter not remembering her was unbearable. She had always been there for Bella—had raised her, loved her. And now, it felt like all of that was being erased.

Kael watched the heartbreaking scene unfold, his own heart heavy in his chest. Bella was a stranger to them now, a stranger to him. The woman who had once been his everything was gone, lost to the darkness of her hybrid nature. He couldn’t fathom how to fix this, how to bring her back to the woman he had known and loved.

Lira approached Kael, her eyes filled with sympathy but also a hint of warning. She had been watching Bella from a distance, her mind clearly working through the situation.

“Kael, you need to understand something,” Lira said softly, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Bella’s memory loss may be permanent. This… this hybrid transformation—it’s messing with her mind. The process, the trauma—it’s all too much for her. She’s going to need time to heal, to adjust. And that may take longer than you think.”

Kael felt a cold rush of dread wash over him at Lira’s words. He couldn’t lose her. Not permanently. There had to be something he could do. “I’ll give her time. I’ll wait for her to heal, but I won’t give up on her,” he said, his voice filled with determination.

Lira nodded, though her face was grim. “I hope you’re right. But you need to prepare yourself for the possibility that she may never be the same. What you’re seeing now—it might be the new Bella. The one you’ll have to learn to love all over again.”

Kael’s stomach twisted at the thought. He didn’t want a new Bella. He wanted the Bella he had known, the one who had loved him with all her heart, the one he had shared everything with. He couldn’t imagine a life without her, a life where she was a stranger.

Despite the pain, Bella had begun to retreat further into herself. She had withdrawn from everyone, isolating herself in the vast Crimson Fang territory. She wandered the land like a ghost, unsure of where she belonged. The familiar places that once brought her comfort now felt foreign, like she was walking in someone else’s life.

She would often find herself standing at the edges of the forest, staring out into the unknown, wondering who she was and how she had come to be here. It was as if she were a different person, one who didn’t belong to this world.

She longed for answers, for something that would make sense of the chaos swirling inside her. But no one could give her the answers she needed. No one could tell her why she felt so lost.

Kael watched her from a distance, his heart breaking every time he saw her wandering alone, her expression distant. He wanted to help her, to bring her back to him, but every time he approached, she pulled away, her eyes filled with fear and confusion.

One evening, as the sun set behind the mountains, Kael and Lira were speaking quietly together, trying to come up with a plan to help Bella. Kael’s voice was thick with emotion as he spoke. “I don’t care what it takes. I’ll bring her back to me,” he said fiercely. “I’ll do whatever it takes to make her remember.”

Lira’s gaze softened, though she still looked worried. “Kael, you have to understand, this is a long road. It might take more than just time. Bella has to come to terms with what’s happened to her. You can’t force her to remember. You can only be there when she’s ready.”

Kael’s fists clenched at his sides, frustration boiling inside him. He didn’t want to hear that. He didn’t want to accept the possibility that Bella might never remember him. He needed her back—he couldn’t live without her.

As they spoke, Bella, who had been standing nearby, overheard their conversation. The words hung in the air, sharp and clear, and they struck her like a bolt of lightning.

“I don’t care what it takes. I’ll bring her back to me.”
