The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 666

Ch. 656 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael refused to leave Bella’s side. His heart pounded with desperation, and his eyes never once left her fragile form, her chest rising and falling so faintly it was barely visible. She had always been strong—his wild, untamable wolf—but now, she lay so still, her once vibrant eyes clouded with unconsciousness. The lifeblood of their bond seemed to be slipping away with every passing second, leaving Kael feeling helpless, powerless against the very force he had always been able to face head-on: the threat of losing her.

Misery and Eryon worked tirelessly to save her, each in their own way. Misery’s hands moved over Bella’s body with practiced precision, applying remedies passed down through her bloodline—her mother’s, her grandmother’s, her ancestors’—remedies that had been used to heal wounds both physical and spiritual. The air around them hummed with an ancient energy, a quiet intensity, but it didn’t seem to be enough. Bella’s pallor remained unchanged, the color draining from her lips with each passing minute.

Eryon, meanwhile, was channeling his own life force into Bella. His normally imposing, powerful presence now seemed strangely diminished as he bent over her, his hands glowing faintly with the magic that surged through his veins. Every ounce of his being seemed to bleed into her, his strength becoming hers, but still, she did not wake. His lips were tight with concentration, his brow furrowed with frustration, yet his efforts yielded no change. She remained still. So still.

Kael’s eyes burned with emotion, his breath shaky and erratic. He had always been the protector—the one who kept everyone else safe. But now, as he watched Bella lie motionless before him, he was nothing but a man helplessly watching the woman he loved slip through his fingers like sand. His heart beat wildly in his chest, and for a moment, he could barely stand the weight of it.

“Don’t leave me, Bella,” Kael whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. His fingers tightened around hers, the sensation of her cool skin sending a jolt of pain through him. “Please… you promised you’d never leave me.”

His breath hitched as his tears threatened to spill, but he blinked them away, unwilling to show his vulnerability. The fierce, unyielding warrior Kael had always been, but for her, for Bella, he would do anything—even if it meant facing this unbearable agony.

Misery, who had been working silently beside him, paused for a moment and turned to him. Her face, always stoic and composed, now bore an expression of concern. She understood Kael’s pain more than anyone, but even her considerable healing powers seemed to be failing in the face of this mysterious ailment.

“We need more help, Kael,” Misery said, her voice low but filled with urgency. “I’ve tried everything I know, but there is only one who might be able to save her now.”

Kael turned sharply toward her, the spark of hope flickering in his chest. “What do you mean?” He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her now, not when she was so close, not after everything they had been through together. “Who?”

Eryon, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke, his voice filled with an unfamiliar hesitation. The weight of his words hung heavily in the air. “There is only one who can help her now,” he said quietly, his face grim. “Seraphine.”

The name echoed in the room like a curse.

Kael felt a chill race down his spine at the mention of Seraphine. Seraphine was a name spoken only in whispers, a figure so shrouded in mystery and power that even the bravest wolves feared invoking it. She was an ancient being, known for her unparalleled healing abilities, but also for her unpredictable nature. Few had ever met her, and fewer still had lived to tell the tale. To seek Seraphine’s aid was to open a door to the unknown, to place one’s trust in someone who could just as easily become an enemy as a savior.

“You can’t be serious,” Kael’s voice was hoarse, raw with disbelief. “She’s a myth. No one knows where to find her. And even if we did, who’s to say she’ll help us?”

Eryon’s gaze darkened, and the shadows of his past seemed to weigh heavily on him. “I know where she is,” he said, his voice filled with quiet resolve. “I’ve met her before. But it won’t be easy. To gain her help… it will come with a price.”

Kael’s heart clenched at the thought of bargaining with someone like Seraphine. He had already given so much for Bella, had fought so hard to protect her, and now he was being asked to make an even greater sacrifice. His jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he considered the consequences.

But then he looked down at Bella, her fragile form lying motionless before him, and something inside him snapped. His love for her was greater than any fear, greater than any price he might have to pay.

“I’ll do whatever it takes,” he said fiercely, his voice strong with determination. “I won’t lose her. Not now. Not ever.”

Misery gave him a knowing look, her expression softening ever so slightly. “We’ll have to move quickly. Seraphine doesn’t wait for anyone.”

Kael nodded, his heart heavy with both hope and dread. Time was running out, and the only chance Bella had now rested in the hands of a woman who was as dangerous as she was powerful. But if there was even the slightest chance that Seraphine could heal her, Kael would do whatever was necessary.

“I’ll bring you back, Bella,” he whispered, his voice filled with quiet resolve. “I swear it.”
