The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 651

Ch. 641 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella’s head throbbed with sharp, dizzying pain as her eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the dim light. Her limbs felt heavy and unresponsive, as though every part of her body had been drained of its strength. The air around her was cold, damp, and oppressive, thick with the scent of stone and mildew. Her wrists were shackled tightly, each movement sending a jolt of discomfort through her arms and chest. She couldn’t tell how long she’d been here, how much time had passed since she had been captured, but she knew it felt like an eternity.

The faint sound of water dripping somewhere in the distance echoed in the silence, amplifying the isolation she felt in this dark, unfamiliar place. She could feel her breath come in shallow gasps, and for a moment, she couldn’t even gather the strength to move. She tried to push through the fog of disorientation clouding her thoughts, but everything felt wrong—too still, too cold.

Where am I? she thought, her mind trying to piece together the fragments of memory.

The last thing she remembered clearly was being ambushed, Esmera’s mercenaries attacking her without warning, and then… nothing. The realization hit her like a cold wave—she had been taken to Nyxthorn territory. The thought filled her with dread. She could feel the weight of the suppressive charm Esmera had placed on her, draining her strength and sealing her wolf inside her, leaving her vulnerable and powerless.

She tried again to reach her wolf, to feel the familiar presence of her bond with Kael, but there was nothing. The connection she shared with him was a faint echo in the back of her mind, so distant and unreachable that it barely registered. The dark magic that bound her had severed that lifeline, and for the first time, Bella felt truly alone.

A creak of the door interrupted her thoughts, and her body tensed instinctively, though the chains around her wrists made movement difficult. Her heart pounded faster as footsteps echoed through the stone room. It was Esmera—Bella recognized the malicious presence before she even entered.

The door swung open, and Esmera stepped inside, her silhouette dark against the dim light spilling from the hallway. Bella could see the cruel smile twisting on her face, her eyes glittering with sick delight.

“Well, well, look at you,” Esmera purred, her voice sharp and mocking. “So weak, so broken. I must admit, you put up quite the fight, but it was always going to end this way, wasn’t it? My victory was inevitable.”

Bella’s lip curled into a snarl, her teeth flashing in defiance. Even in her weakened state, the fire inside her refused to go out. She glared at Esmera, trying to muster enough strength to speak. “You won’t win,” Bella croaked, her voice rough. “Kael will come for me.”

Esmera’s smile only widened, but there was no warmth in it—only sadistic pleasure. She took a few slow steps toward Bella, her heels clicking on the cold stone floor with each step. The sound made Bella’s stomach churn, but she refused to show fear.

“Oh, I do hope so,” Esmera said, her voice dripping with venom. “I’m curious to see how much Kael loves you. Though, I’m afraid by the time he finds you, you won’t be recognizable.”

The words stung, more than Bella wanted to admit, but she clenched her fists, unwilling to show Esmera the effect she had. “You can’t break me,” she said, her voice firm despite the pain threatening to overwhelm her. “Kael will never abandon me.”

Esmera’s eyes gleamed with malevolent satisfaction, and she crouched down, bringing her face closer to Bella’s. The coldness in her gaze was almost suffocating, and Bella’s breath hitched as Esmera spoke again, her words slow and deliberate.

“You should have never crossed me, Bella,” Esmera whispered, her breath hot against Bella’s ear. “You were nothing before you met Kael, and you’ll be nothing again. The sooner you accept that, the easier your suffering will be.”

The words seemed to resonate within Bella, but she fought against them, steeling herself. She wouldn’t give Esmera the satisfaction of seeing her break. She couldn’t. Her wolf, though silent, still lingered deep within her, a reminder that she was more than what Esmera was trying to make her. She would survive this. She had to.

Esmera straightened, looking down at Bella with contempt. “You will regret ever defying me,” she said, her tone dark and full of threat. “You will come to understand what it means to be nothing. When I’m done with you, you won’t even remember who you were.”

Bella’s heart skipped at the mention of Kael. The connection between them was still there, but it felt like a distant echo, like a fading memory that she couldn’t quite reach. She knew Esmera’s words were meant to weaken her resolve, to make her doubt everything she believed in. But Bella wouldn’t give her the satisfaction. She couldn’t.

Esmera lingered for a moment longer, enjoying Bella’s silent defiance, before she turned and made her way toward the door. Her heels clicked sharply against the stone, her exit as calculated as her entrance.

“Enjoy your time here,” Esmera said, her voice cutting through the air like a blade. “It’ll be the last time you feel anything other than despair.”

The door slammed shut, and Bella was left in darkness once more. The cold, oppressive silence returned, and she closed her eyes, trying to steady her breathing. She couldn’t let Esmera win. She wouldn’t.

A few moments later, she heard the sound of a guard approaching. Bella’s muscles tensed, every instinct on high alert. She knew what was coming.

The guard stepped into view, his face hard and unforgiving. Without warning, he spat on the ground in front of her, the vile liquid landing on her cheek. Bella recoiled, her breath catching in disgust.

“You’re nothing but a pawn,” the guard spat, his voice filled with disdain. “Your mate won’t even recognize you when we’re done with you.”
