The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 680

Ch. 670 / 790 May 05, 2026

The room was thick with tension, the air humming with the power of the spell Seraphine had cast. Kael could feel the magic crackling around them, the force of it almost tangible as it swirled in the air. He held his breath, his eyes locked on Bella, whose body was trembling violently, wracked with the awakening of her hybrid nature. Every muscle in her body seemed to writhe in a desperate battle between the vampire and the wolf, and Kael’s heart clenched in his chest at the sight.

For a moment, everything stopped. Bella’s body went still, and the only sound that filled the room was the echo of Seraphine’s incantations. Kael couldn’t tear his gaze away from her. His entire world had narrowed down to this one moment—this fragile sliver of time where the fate of the woman he loved rested in the hands of someone who had warned them of the dire consequences.

Then, Bella’s heartbeat steadied, slow but sure. A faint, rhythmic pulse that sent a wave of relief crashing over Kael. Her breathing, shallow at first, began to stabilize. Her eyes flickered open, glowing faintly with an eerie red hue that was unmistakably vampire. Kael felt the bond between them stir, faint but present—she was still there, still alive, still his.

But before he could even let out a breath of relief, Seraphine collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, her face pale and drawn with exhaustion. The magic had taken its toll on her. She looked up at Kael with eyes filled with a strange mixture of regret and something far darker. “Bella…” Seraphine whispered, her voice weak. “She is the most dangerous hybrid… and curing her will kill me.”

Kael’s heart skipped a beat. He was about to speak, to ask what Seraphine meant, when Bella stirred, her eyes flickering open, her body shifting as she took in her surroundings. Her gaze, now fully focused, locked onto Seraphine. There was no recognition in her eyes. Only a cold, unsettling void.

“What… have you done to me?” Bella’s voice was icy, completely unfamiliar. It wasn’t the voice he knew, the voice that had once spoken with warmth and love. This voice was distant, detached, like a shadow that didn’t belong.

Kael’s blood ran cold. This wasn’t the Bella he had fought to save. This wasn’t the woman who had been the heart of his world, the woman he had shared everything with. The person before him was something else, something far more dangerous.

Seraphine, still lying on the ground, glanced at Bella, her eyes filled with a grim understanding. “You’ve become something beyond what I could have anticipated. I’ve awakened the full power of your hybrid nature, but it comes with a price,” she whispered. Her voice was strained, and her breaths came in shallow gasps. “You were never meant to exist as you are, Bella. The vampire blood running through you… it’s like a poison, fighting against your wolf side, and your wolf side, in turn, is pushing against the vampire blood. The balance was never meant to be.”

Kael stepped forward, his hands trembling as he reached for Bella, desperate to pull her back from whatever dark place she had gone to. But she pulled away from him, her cold eyes narrowing.

“Stay away from me, Kael,” she hissed, her voice low and menacing. “You have no idea what you’ve done to me.”

Kael’s heart sank. It was as if the bond between them had been severed, replaced by something far more volatile. This wasn’t his mate standing before him; it was a stranger, someone he didn’t recognize.

“Bella,” he said, his voice hoarse. “Please, listen to me. It’s me, Kael. I’m here. I didn’t want this for you. I never wanted this. We can fix this. We can figure it out together.”

But Bella only snarled, her eyes flashing red again as her fangs began to elongate, a guttural growl escaping from deep within her chest. “Fix it?” she scoffed. “You think this can be fixed? I’m not a wolf anymore. I’m not even a vampire. I am something else. Something that doesn’t belong.”

Seraphine, weak and struggling to rise, looked at Kael with a mixture of pity and something darker—something Kael couldn’t quite place. “She’s right,” Seraphine said, her voice barely audible. “She’s something beyond both. A hybrid, yes. But more than that. She’s… the product of forces that should never have been combined. A creature that will either destroy everything or become its ruler.”

Kael’s stomach twisted, his entire world shattering around him. He couldn’t lose her like this. He couldn’t lose her to whatever dark fate this transformation had brought upon her. The woman he had loved was slipping away, and all he could do was stand there and watch.

“Bella,” he tried again, his voice strained, pleading. “Don’t do this. I won’t let you destroy yourself. I won’t let you go. You’re my mate. We’re bound by that bond. You’re not alone in this.”

But Bella’s expression remained cold and indifferent. She looked at him, her gaze calculating, as though trying to figure out what kind of threat he posed to her now. “I don’t need you, Kael,” she said, her voice devoid of emotion. “I never needed you. You made me like this. And now… I have to figure out how to control it.”

Kael’s heart shattered at her words. The Bella he had known, the woman who had stood by him through everything, was gone. In her place was something dark and dangerous—a creature that was no longer bound by the love they had shared.

Seraphine, still weak, tried to push herself up from the ground. “Kael,” she rasped. “You have to understand. This isn’t just about Bella anymore. It’s about all of us. The magic I’ve woven… it’s not just for her. It’s dangerous. And the more she resists the ritual, the more dangerous she becomes.”
