Third Person's POV
"What on earth is going on? I was telling everyone that Leo was going to be my son-in-law, and now look, everyone's calling to mock me, to make a fool of me. You unambitious girl, you've disgraced me!"
Moira clearly couldn't accept this reality and the blow it dealt her, venting all her resentment on Sunny.
Sunny let Moira scold her without a word of retort.
Only after Moira had finished did she say, "Mom, I'm tired. I'm going to hang up now."
After ending the call, Sunny closed her eyes, lay back on the bed, and felt utterly drained.
She knew the days of being ridiculed were far from over, and she could only resign herself to accept it all.
The news of Leo and Sunny's breakup indeed caused quite a stir. Some gloated, those who watched indifferently, and those who were secretly delighted and mocking.
Among them, the most elated was undoubtedly Mirabel Field, who had always taken a dislike to Sunny.
She had been scheming about how to bully Sunny, but the news came so suddenly and conveniently that it completely dissipated all her pent-up resentment.
Mirabel sat on the sofa, a triumphant smile playing on her face.
She watched over and over again the cool and indifferent expression on Leo's face as he faced the reporters, and how he uttered the word "breakup," decisive and ruthless.
"Tsk, Leo is always so handsome, no matter when. Even when he's angry, furious, or cold, he's incredibly captivating," Mirabel said with a smile as she reached for a cherry handed to her by her assistant.
The assistant replied in a flattering tone, "Of course, Leo is the god in our hearts. This time, let's see how Sunny can still act so smug. She's still been kicked out, hasn't she? Leo is wise and mighty, having made the right decision at last. That woman only relied on her youth. In terms of temperament, how could she compare to you?"
Thinking that her flattery would be rewarded, she didn't expect Mirabel to immediately turn cold, "You say she's young. Are you implying that I'm old?"
The assistant's face turned pale with fear and she hurriedly explained, "Mirabel, you've misunderstood."
Only then did Mirabel's mood improve, and she humphed, "If she didn't have the boss's backing, just wait and see how I'll find opportunities to get back at her. I'll return all the grievances I've suffered, tenfold, a hundredfold."
"Mirabel, if you want to get back at her, that's not difficult at all. She'll surely make a fool of herself," the assistant, full of mischievous ideas, said.
Mirabel's lips curled into a happy smile, "You're right. Now that she's somewhat famous but on the verge of fading, she'll probably try to cash in on her remaining popularity. At that time, I could indeed do something. If Leo sees her entangled with other men, haha, he'll be utterly disgusted with her."
"This move is great. Are you worried that she still holds a place in Leo's heart?" the assistant asked curiously.
"From what I know about Leo, he's a devoted good man. Over the years, there have been many women coming and going by his side, but he hasn't been moved by any of them, except for Sunny. If I don't find an opportunity to make him completely tired of her, I'm really afraid that one day, he might remember her good points and bring her back. Then, wouldn't I have no chance at all? I can't just sit back and do nothing. I have to ruin her completely," Mirabel's eyes gleamed with malicious satisfaction, and her fists clenched tightly due to her unresolved hatred.
The assistant praised her, "Mirabel, in terms of intelligence, that woman probably can't even compare to one of your fingers. Only a woman as versatile and exceptionally smart as you deserves the position of Leo's wife."
"I'll give you a gift tomorrow!" Mirabel, in a great mood, immediately decided to reward her with a little treat.
"Thank you, Mirabel. You're so considerate and generous!" the assistant was overjoyed.
After all, a gift from Mirabel was equivalent to a year's earnings for a clerk like her on a regular salary. How could she not be excited?
In the Royal Pack.
Catherine was playing snowball fights and building snowmen with the children at home, and also sang and watched cartoons with them. The whole day was non-stop, and although the little ones were young, they had plenty of energy, leaving Catherine exhausted.
"Catherine, come here for a moment, help me understand what they're saying on the TV," Patricia suddenly came out and called for her.
Catherine walked into the living room and saw Patricia, wearing reading glasses, stretching her neck to watch the TV program.
"That's Leo, right?" Patricia's eyes had become quite weak lately, and she wasn't sure.
"Grandma, it's him!" Catherine replied in a low voice, her eyes also fixed on the screen, and then she let out a soft "ah" sound.
