Third Person's POV
"Fine, let's break up then." Leo snorted coldly, his tone devoid of any reluctance, "I'll have someone pack up your things and send them back to you."
"Leo, I'm really sorry. Thank you for not despising me in the past..."
"Don't say such insincere words. If I liked you, I would naturally treat you with utmost kindness. But you didn't cherish it. You betrayed my trust, and this is all on you," Leo cut her off abruptly, then stormed out of the hospital room, slamming the door behind him.
Sunny felt as if she had been struck by lightning, standing there motionless for a long time, like a frozen statue.
A gust of cold air came through the window, jolting her awake. It felt like she had been in a beautiful dream, but the man who had been good to her was now gone.
In the world of werewolves, the departure of a mate is a tremendous blow to the other party.
Sunny felt her world collapse in an instant, as if she had lost the center of her life.
All of this was her own doing, but thinking of it, sorrow still flooded her like a tidal wave, making it impossible for her to express the pain in her heart with words. Only tears flowed uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." she muttered to herself, not knowing who these apologies were for, Olivia, or Leo?
Or perhaps for Leo's father who Olivia killed?
Sunny lay in the hospital for a whole day and night, cutting off all contact with the outside world.
The next morning, two nurses came in to give her an injection.
Seeing her sorrowful expression and red eyes, one of the bolder nurses couldn't help but ask, "Sunny, is it true that you and Leo broke up?"
Sunny's body, which had been stiff, trembled slightly, almost imperceptibly.
"It must be true. Look at her now, so despondent. If it were me, being kicked out like that, I'd probably be even more miserable. You know, that's Leo, the irreplaceable god in my eyes," the other nurse said with a tinge of jealousy.
Sunny furrowed her brows. She and Leo discussing the breakup yesterday seemed to be unknown to a third party. Why would these nurses know?
Sunny turned to look at them, but the two nurses glanced at her disdainfully, gave a few instructions, and left.
Sunny quickly sat up and looked around but couldn't find her phone.
Leo had taken the new phone Olivia had given her as well.
With no other choice, Sunny picked up the remote control and turned on the television.
She switched channels and suddenly, on the entertainment channel, she saw Leo.
It was a rebroadcast of the news from the afternoon before, where Leo had held a press conference to announce the end of their romantic relationship unilaterally.
Leo's use of the press conference to announce their breakup was also a way to state his stance to the public, and it meant that Sunny had lost his protection and support.
Sunny's head "buzzed," and she felt a sudden blankness.
Leo was in such a hurry to distance himself from her.
Ha, this time, she had truly broken his heart and disappointed him utterly.
Sunny felt that overnight, she had become destitute, without a job, without money, and without love.
Losing Leo meant she had lost all of these, and her life had fallen into a predicament.
Forget it. Wasn't this what she wanted?
Sunny no longer wanted to stay in the hospital. She called a nurse to help her remove the needle and then went through the discharge procedures.
During the process, many people recognized her.
Coupled with the sensational news of her being abandoned by Leo, Sunny instantly became the center of attention.
"Stop taking pictures. Please don't take any more pictures of me!" Sunny held her medical records in front of her face, her tone filled with pleading, and then she left in a disheveled state.
After escaping the hospital, Sunny took a taxi back to the small house she used to live in.
Upon arriving at her doorstep, she saw two large boxes standing there, filled with her clothes.
It seemed Leo was determined to cut all ties with her.
Sunny opened the door and with great effort, dragged the two large boxes into the house.
She opened one of the boxes and on top of the clothes, she found the old watch she had lost before.
She had searched everywhere for it, and in the end, it was Leo who found it, saying he would keep it for her.
Sunny looked at the watch, tears streaming down like broken beads, unable to stop.
The sorrow within her surged like a tidal wave, completely submerging her. His returning of the watch meant that they were now quits.
Sunny composed herself, went downstairs, and bought a new phone. She immediately called her mother.
Moira was frantic with worry. As soon as she heard Sunny's voice, she immediately asked, "Sunny, is that news true? Did you break up with Leo? What exactly happened? Why did you break up out of the blue? Did he get tired of you?"
A series of questions left Sunny feeling dizzy and on the verge of fainting.
She forced herself to stay calm and said in a composed tone, "Mom, please don't ask anymore. It's over between him and me."
