ADRIAN CASTILLO
I really felt bad for how I treated Sophia and the tone I used on her. I wish I could take it back but I couldn't and I could tell that she wasn't happy with me.
We were progressing and suddenly she has to bring my dead parents up and I got triggered. I am still unable to get over their death simply because I witness them being killed in front of me.
It was one of the most terrifying memories of mine. It took me months to finally fall asleep even though I still dream of them.
I didn't like talking about them because it only reminded me of the painful days of my life and how I wished I had died.
Sophia has been avoiding it since she woke up. When I speak to her, she gives me short replies and it hurts me.
"What would you like for breakfast?" I asked her as I asked the woman on the phone to wait for some seconds.
"Anything is fine," she replied, reading the magazine in her hand.
"Just bring in the same food for two persons," I told the woman before ending the call.
I took in a deep breath and exhaled. I wasn't sure if I should tell her about my past and my parents yet. I wasn't ready to open up. I wasn't someone that easily opened up to others and that is the reason I never had friends.
I brought Sophia here simply because I wanted us to spend more time together and get to know each other bette and she was right. I knew a lot about her than she knew about me.
I collected the magazine from Sophia's hand wanting her to look at me but she didn't and I sighed.
"Can we talk?" I asked.
"Go one, I'm listening," she replied, not looking at me and it doesn't sit well with me.
"I want you to look at me while I talk to you," I said to her and she looked at me for some seconds before looking away.
"I do not mean look at me and look away, I mean look at me," I said to her and she did look at me but I could tell she wasn't interested in talking to me.
"I'm sorry about last night," I said but she said nothing in return.
"I shouldn't have spoken to you in that way and manner but I did and I'm really sorry about it. I hope you can forgive me," I said, hoping that she would say yes but from her facial expression I doubted.
"I forgive you," she said simple and short and I didn't seem convinced by it at all.
"Why do I not believe you?" I said to her.
"You said you are sorry and I said it's fine. What's there to believe or not?" She replied almost sounding sarcastic.
I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Okay let's say you forgive me but you are not happy with me, are you?" I asked her.
"It's not a problem Adrian. You already said what you had to say yesterday and I said it's fine. What else do I have to say?" She asked me.
She sounded hurt and I now understand why she was still angry with me.
I ran my finger through my hair but before I could speak, the door bell rang and I sighed. I walked to the door to answer the woman that had brought in our breakfast.
By the time I came back to the room, Sophia was no longer there. I felt so angry at myself for ruining the relationship that we were just building.
I have meeting soon and I am not sure I will be able to concentrate knowing well that we are not on speaking terms or maybe we are but it didn't feel like we are on speaking terms.
Sophia came to join me in the dinning some minutes later.
I open my mouth to say something to her but I closed it back as I didn't know what to say to her at all.
It has never felt so hard to speak to someone before.
Sophia did not hesitate to eat all her food and left the dinner table while I was finding it hard to eat.
When I went to the room, she was already on the shower and I knew that because I could hear the water running.
"How long are we going to keep doing this?" I asked her, not happy that she wasn't giving me as much attention as she would normally give me.
"Doing what?" She asked me as she clean her hair with the towel in her hand.
"I mean you ignoring me and not even looking at me," I remarked.
"Ignoring you? What am I doing now? I'm clearly speaking to you Adrian. I do not know what else I am to do. Do you want to hear something from me that I have not said?" She asked me.
"No. Not really. I just know you are angry with me. I mean..." I trailed off.
I walked closer to her. "I promise you that when I come back tonight, we will talk about everything you want to know. That's a promise," I told her, hoping that would lit up her mood.
"You do not have do worry Adrian. You already said I shouldn't and I'm going to do as you want. Why are you making it a issue. I already told you that it's fine Adrian. It's fine," she sighed moving away from me.
"But it's not fine. You are not happy with me and that's why it's not fine," I countered.
"You do not know that. What do you want me to do? I do not understand you. What am I supposed to do? You do realize you are demanding too much from me right now?" She raised her brows up in a questioning manner.
I sighed. "I'm going to take a shower," I said to her and went to take my bath.
