Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 79. APOLOGY

Ch. 79 / 114 Sep 17, 2024

SOPHIA CASTILLO

I heard a knock on my door.

"Who's that?" I asked, getting up from the bed so that I could sit on it.

"It's me." I heard Jessica say and I wonder what could have brought her here after all she has said to me today.

I have been inside the room all day because I do not want to see her or talk to her after Adrian went to work.

I was contemplating if I should tell her to come in or not and the truth is I do not want her to come in because I do not want to speak to her.

"Come in," I heard myself saying the opposite of what I have planned and I scolded myself mentally.

The deed has already been done as she let herself in. "Can I talk to you?" She asked and I stared at her with a very frantic facial expression.

Talk to me about what? I just know there is something about her that doesn't sit well with me and for some obvious reason, I get the same vibes from her too about me.

I feel she doesn't like me or rather I can see that. From the way she cuts me off and how she always wants to talk to Adrian and forget my existence, that is more than enough to let me know what is going on in her mind.

"About?" I asked, folding my arms across my chest as I got up from the bed.

I walked towards to couch so she could join me. As much as I do not want to speak to her, I was also curious to hear what she has to say.

She inhaled and exhaled deeply as she sat down on the couch, at the edge ad I also sat on the other side of the edge too.

"About today." I watched as she fidgeted with her fingernails and I knew there was something up with her.

Why do I feel she was faking it?

"What about today?" I feigned confusion when the truth is I was. Was she sorry for how she spoke to me or was she here to correct me more? I just couldn't help but think.

"Look, okay. I was a little too much or maybe too much earlier today. I mean what I am trying to say is that I shouldn't have spoken to you the way I did today and it is wrong of me and so I..." She trailed off swallowing the lump that formed in her throat.

I waited for her to patiently speak first before I say anything. I want to hear what she had to say because I have a lot of questions to ask her too.

"I shouldn't have spoken to you that way. I mean Adrian is your husband and your other half and if you say you do not like me calling him Adri, I should just do as you have told but can I ask you a question?" She said.

"A question? Go on," I replied.

"Everybody knows you as Sophia and then someone you just got to know calls you Sophy and you do not complain but then Adri... I mean Adrian doesn't like it and then tells the person not to, how would you feel? Why does Adrian has the right to tell people what they call you unless you?" She asked.

Her questions sounded tricky but I do try to get the point she was trying to pass across.

It is true I can't tell people what to call him and how they address him and only he can.

"You see my point right?" Her brows rose slightly and she adjusted closer to me on the couch.

"What I am trying to say is that I have known Adrian before you did. I mean we were neighbors and we grew up together and I have called him Adri all my life and he didn't complain about it or tell me that I shouldn't call him that but you do not like it and then you shunned me which I know you know that you are wrong," she said firmly.

"What are you trying to say?" I asked, wanting her to be precise.

I mean it doesn't sound like she came to apologize because she is also being defensive too and trying to give out some solid points.

"What I am saying is, you do not need it," she said and I stared at her frantically.

"I do not need what?" I was frantic. Very frantic.

"You do not need to be a jealous and insecure baby girl," she said almost in a whisper and I felt the urge to tell her to leave.

"I do not need to be insecure? What exactly are you trying to say?" I asked, trying to keep my cool.

"I see it darling and I understand," she grabbed my hands.

"Adrian is your husband. You are his wife and no other person can take him from you or separate the both of you and that's what you should always remind yourself of," she said firmly.

"I know that you don't like me. I mean I can tell you don't like me and I know why. I have gotten this kind of attitude from a lot of people and even from those I call friends," she said as if she knows what she is talking about.

"Trust me I do," she said so confidently.

"You do what? I'm confused. Enlighten me," I was starting to lose my patience.

"What I am saying is simple. I have always been envied by others and jealous of others. I mean I have the looks, the height, and the brain but then again I am not the type to want to covet another's woman property," she said in a calm tone as if she was trying to get under my skin.

"I get that you are scared that Adrian might want to leave you for me but you do not have..." I took my hands from her hold and got up from where I was seated.

I have never felt so stupid in my life as I was right now.

"Are you saying I am insecure because I am scared that I might lose Adrian for you?" I asked, clearly in disbelief.

I know Adrian well enough to know that he loves me and cares about me a lot. He has not only said that but has shown me in different ways. That man puts me first in everything and always wants to hear my opinion about everything so why would I be insecure about her presence and worse jealous of her?

"The truth is, you are pretty. Pretty and you are blessed with the looks but Insecurity and jealousy is the last word you might want to use to describe my attitude towards you," I clarified.

She opened her mouth to say something and I cut her off.

"I'm not done talking," I said sternly.

"You think Adrian will turn his head because of your presence?" I scoffed.

"You are wrong. You don't even know him. I admit you know him way before I did but you only know teenage Adrian and not the man he is now. You don't even know what he does when he has a lot going on his mind or what he likes to do."

"There is a lot you do not know about him and I can tell you that with my full chest," I said firmly.

"Adrian loves me and I love him too and I know him well enough to know that he doesn't see you that way and he is just being a gentleman because that's the kind of person he is," I said through my teeth.

"Also, what are you doing here? Why did you come in the first place and do you call this apology? More like you trying to look down on me," I snarled.

"I have noticed how you look at me and how you always remind me of my age and then make it look like I'm not fit for Adrian but guess what, I'm his wife and I'm the love of his life and I never want you speaking to me," I said firmly.

"You can stay here until you have a place to stay but I do not want to have anything to do with you. I do not want to speak to you or even be in the same room as you so I'd advise that you leave this rook now," I deadpanned.

A smile formed on her face as she rose from the couch.

"I was just trying to let you understand that I mean no harm and yes I came to apologize to you for how I have spoken to you but you do know that I said a lot of truth," she said confidently.

"You do not have to like me but it's fine. I'd just appreciate it that you do not have a problem with how I speak to your husband okay?"

"I mean you already said so yourself that he loves you and you love him too and I know the teenage Adrian which is fine by me and that should also be fine by you because I will speak to the man the way I know him," she smiled.

"Once again, I apologize for the way I have spoken to you. I do hope you do not stop me from speaking to your husband or being too friendly with him because I've noticed that he loves you a lot and would want to please you even when you are wrong," she said.

I smiled back at her refusing to give her satisfaction. "Yes. He loves me and I'm glad you also noticed," I replied.

"Please leave my room, now."
