Married to the heartless Billionaire

Chapter 78. REPRIMANDING

Ch. 78 / 114 Sep 17, 2024

SOPHIA CASTILLO

I watched as Adrian and Jessica conversed with one another and she'd giggle unnecessarily when he said something I didn't find funny at all.

I was trying hard to ignore her and just eat but I couldn't because of her and I disliked it.

"Will you go shopping with me, Adrian?" She asked all of a sudden and I almost choked on my food as I stared at her as if she was stupid.

Does she realize he is someone's husband? I get that it might not mean anything bad but I just don't feel comfortable with her at all and I get some kind of vibes from her that don't seem comfortable with me.

I mean if she wanted to go shopping, she could ask me, after all, I am free and I am a female. She isn't even trying to interact with me and I felt like she was looking down on me.

"Shopping? I'm sorry I can't do that. My wife can go with you," Adrian said before glancing at me as if asking me if I'd go with her.

"Sophia? Oh come on Adrian," she said as if I wasn't worthy of going shopping with her.

"What do you mean?" Adrian asked.

Exactly, what does she mean? I was starting to fume in my belly and was passing the aggression on the fork in my hand.

"I mean we both have different tastes in clothes. I haven't seen her in much but it's obvious and I know it's not really a big deal but age does play a role in fashion too. You should know I do not joke when it comes to my choice of clothes," she explained and I mentally scoffed.

"I do not know that," Adrian replied and I couldn't help but hold myself to not laughing out loud.

"I mean, we haven't spoken to each other for over a decade and some years so how am I to know your fashion preference?" He curled his lips to the side.

"If you take your choice of clothing that seriously then you should go alone or go with someone whose preference is the same as yours," he shrugged.

"Yes. I mean since age does play a role as you say. I doubt I'd be able to know what a woman in her early thirties would like to wear," I said in a polite tone while in my head I was being sarcastic.

Funny how she says she doesn't care about age but she never fails to talk about it and it's annoying.

If one saw her, they would think she was in her mid-twenties and I just give it to her for still looking younger than her age.

"Oh trust me. My taste is similar to many and at the same time it is not," she replied.

"And besides, I'm not too familiar with the places anymore so Adri, will..."

"Can you stop calling him Adri?" I did not realize it when I opened my mouth and said that but I do not regret it.

Adrian and Jessica were both staring at me.

"Why? That's his name?" She replied.

"I don't appreciate others calling him anything other than Adrian. It doesn't sit well with me," I told her and she let out a small laugh.

"Are you kidding me right now?" She asked.

"What are you? Ten? You don't like when others call him anything other than his name? Will you go around telling everyone to call him Adrian or Mr. Castillo or you will do what?"

I clenched my fist, trying to hold myself from saying any word to her. I mean she does have her point and if it was another calling him by a nickname, I might not find it offensive but because it's her and there is just something about her I do not seem to understand and the vibes I also get from her, that is why I am acting this way.

"What should I call him? I mean you can't be the one to tell me the name I call him and he doesn't seem to have an issue with it so..."

"Enough Jessica," Adrian said in a firm and stern tone.

"Can you just call me Adrian instead? If she doesn't like it then I don't like it either," he said to her and I felt my stomach rumble with joy.

She scoffed. "Are you kidding me? You definitely must be kidding me," she clicked her tongue in disbelief.

"I have been calling you Adrian since we were teenagers and suddenly you think it's a problem? Are you both for real?"

"You do realize you are not the first woman to get married right? You can't go around telling people not to call him by the name they want to and you can't stop it at all." She wasn't shouting, her voice was insanely calm and she was well composed too, just like Adrian whenever he was angry.

"You don't like it when I call him..."

"I told you it's enough Jessica. She is my wife and I won't tolerate you speaking to her in that way and manner," he chided.

"Of course. You are her husband and I expect you to react this way but she isn't a child and you need to correct her when needed," she said.

"I d not appreciate it. I do not like how you have spoken to her and I'd advise you not make a repeat of it," he said, getting up from his seat.

He grabbed my hands. "We will leave now," he said, pulling me with him away, and honestly, I felt a little bit stupid as she made sense.

I can go around telling people to not call him by the name they deemed fit and I hate I have given her more reasons to look down on me.

"Don't listen to any of the words she has said. Jessica is just like that, don't feel bad," Adrian said, wiping the tears that streamed down my cheek.
