ADRIAN CASTILLO
The meeting I expected to end as soon as possible ended up taking longer and I do not regret it.
I do not know how Justin and I came to the point of talking about relationships but I ended up talking about Sophia.
She has been disturbing my heart and I needed to get it off my chest.
"Just confess to her. Do not hold it in. I mean tell her how you feel," he advised.
"But I have done that," I told him, running my finger through my hair.
"You have? Do you realize there are ways you confess to a woman and she knows you want something more and this woman is your wife? Just tell her that you have fallen for her. Be completely honest with her and tell her what you want. Women love a straightforward man," Justin said and I sighed.
Maybe I haven't done that. Sophia might have thought I just wanted to have a friendly relationship with her but I want something more than that.
"Maybe that's what I should do. Thanks so much, Justin. It felt nice telling someone about this. It has been bothering me for a long time now," I said to him.
"It's no problem," he replied.
"We will see some other time. I look forward to seeing you in my office," I told him as I got up from my seat.
"I will visit too," Justin told me.
We parted our ways and I glanced at my wristwatch to look at the time. I wanted to get things done and dusted with Mrs. Parker as soon as possible and go back home to speak to Sophia.
It was past six but I told the driver to drive me to the destination I would be meeting with Mrs. Parker. I just didn't have the patience to wait.
It felt as him a weight was removed from my shoulder after speaking to Justin made me feel at ease.
Thankfully Mrs. Parker had arrived five minutes before the set time and we were able to conclude the meeting.
I went back home nervous and excited at the same time. Excited to see Sophia and nervous because I do not know why she is mad and what I would be saying to her once I saw her.
"Welcome sir," the maid greeted me.
"Where is Sophia?" I asked.
"She's upstairs in her room," they told me and I rushed upstairs for the first time in my life.
Upon getting to her room, I feel my heart beating faster in my chest. Never have I been this nervous about anyone or anything in my life before but here I was, standing in front of her door and making an attempt to knock.
My hand froze in the air when I heard her speak to someone who I guessed must be on the phone.
"Yes. He is using me that's what I'm trying to say. I overheard him and the man who approached her at the event talking about it. He doesn't like me, Evie. He is trying to be nice to me so he can find out if my father is against him and that's a lie. I'm so hurt," I heard hIr say and it was as if she was crying too from the sound of her voice.
"Mr... Brian. I think that's his name. He was telling him about not trusting me or rather confirming from Adrian If that was his plan. I thought..." She sniffled.
"I thought he might like me. I mean it has been awkward between us and he has been trying to make conversation with me or so I thought but after finding out, it broke me. He doesn't like me, Evie. I don't think she ever. I mean what's there to like about me," she cried and I felt my heart clench.
Now I understood why she has been acting that way. She had stood up everything and thought I was pretending to her.
Goodness! I felt so bad and Mr... Brian i.s the cause of all of this. If only he had stayed away from me, she wouldn't be thinking that I was pretending to want to know her or form a relationship between us.
"It's fine. He doesn't know I know. I acted as if I had not heard him. It's hard though... I'm trying but I will be fine. It's like my life gets better and then worse and then better and now it's worse. I don't even know what to do," I heard a say.
I placed my hand on the doorknob, wanting to open the door but then I stopped, wanting to hear her entire conversation first before going in.
"He is not back now. And even if he comes back, I'm gonna act like I'm sleeping. I don't want to speak to him."
"He will regret his actions. I mean my father has nothing against him and neither am I working against him. He always insults my eyes all of the time. He sure knows how to hurt my feelings."
"Adrian Castillo is the worse of all jerks and a heartless human being!" I heard her say.
"Ouch!" I muttered.
Didn't expect her to have that much impression about me but what was I to expect from a woman I bullied from the moment I set my eyes on her.
I do not hate her eyes. I'm in love with them which. I have always been fascinated by her eyes and that's why I insulted them because they somehow lured me all of the time I looked at them.
It felt powerful whenever I looked at them and they are beautiful too.
"Thanks, Evie. I will call you back later. I will be okay. I will. I just have to get over him and then I'd be fine. One day I will be happy," she said.
"Thanks for calling."
And that was the last I heard from her before entering her room.
