SOPHIA CASTILLO
"Thanks so much for coming Sophia," my cousin sister Evelyn said to me after pulling back from our hug.
I've missed her so much. I was glad that Adrian allowed me to come to her wedding.
"I've missed you too. How have you been?" She asked.
"I have been fine and you?" I replied with a smile on my face.
Evelyn pulled me back again for a hug, surprising me with her action and she began to pat my back lightly.
"It will all be fine Sophia. Trust me when I tell you so. It will be fine. She will be back," Evelyn said and it dawn on me what was happening.
I took in a deep breath and exhaled. Tears blurred my eyes when I realized that Sarah wasn't here as she should have been.
It would have been a blast having my sister here with me.
I still couldn't believe Sarah had it in her to stay away from her family. She didn't bother calling or checking on us or even leaving an anonymous or random message to tell us how she was doing.
"Come let's go meet my mom," she said, leading me towards her mother's room.
Paloma, Evelyn's mom pulled me into a hug the moment she saw me.
"Sophia," she called, excitement laced in her tone.
"Aunt Paloma," I hugged her back.
"Look at you. You look very different. A good different," she said once she pulled back from me.
"How has your marriage life been? Are you happy?" She asked and I nodded my head because I do not know if I was happy or not.
After the kiss Adrian and I shared, he has been nice and still speaks to me but I could feel he was distant at the same time.
It wasn't that I was bothered or maybe I was because he just flipped and switched after the kiss, something I was not expecting.
"Look at you. I am really glad you came. Evelyn appreciates it,"
Evelyn and I used some hours to catch up. She told me a lot about her fiance and asked about my marriage life. I didn't give too many details and just kept it short. I could tell she was trying to not talk about Sarah because she know how much it would affect the mood.
My phone suddenly rang, interrupting our conversation. I stared at the phone as there was no caller identification.
I answered after some seconds.
"Hello," I said.
"I'm going to use the bathroom," Evelyn mouthed and I nodded my head.
I heard the person on the other line clear their throat and I could instantly tell it was a man.
"It's Me, Adrian. I just wanted to check on you and to know if you have arrived," Adrian said, surprising me and making my heart skip.
I do not have his number. We do not have each other's numbers because of our relationship status but his call surprised me.
"Adrian?" I called, trying to confirm he was the one when I know he is the one because of his voice.
"Yes," he chuckled.
"Have you arrived at your destination?" He asked.
I cleared my throat, took in a deep breath, and exhaled. He was the last person I expected to call me.
Hearing his voice did make my heart flutter.
"Yes. Like two or three hours ago," I replied.
"That's good. I just wanted to check on you. Have you eaten?" He asked and I realized that I haven't.
I wasn't even feeling hungry at all.
"No," I replied.
"What? Why haven't you eaten?" He asked, he sounded a bit harsh and concerned at the same time.
I opened my mouth to say something but closed that back as I didn't know what to say to him.
I heard his sigh. "Kindly go and get yourself something to eat. Okay?" He said, in a now calmer tone.
"Okay," I replied to him.
"Be sure to eat and in fact, make sure to take a picture of what you are eating and send it to me so that I can confirm that you indeed ate something. I will call you later, I have to go," he said before ending the call and I exhaled deeply.
Adrian surely surprised me with his attitude. I wasn't expecting him to be that bothered if I have eaten or not.
I mean we spent the past few days eating together but I didn't know he cared that much to know if I haven't eaten on not.
I shook my head not understanding him at all. It was going to take a long time for me to understand him.
"Who was that?" Evelyn asked, coming to sit back down on the bed.
"Adrian," I replied to her.
"Your husband? What's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing," I replied.
"He was just asking if I have eaten," I told her and she gasped.
"Oh my goodness. I forgot to give you food. I'm so bad," Evelyn said getting up from the bed.
"Come, let's go get you food before your husband comes down here and burns this place but that's so sweet of him. Asking if you have eaten? You didn't tell me that you guys were building your relationship," she said, raising her brows in a teasing manner and I sighed.
If only she knows how crazy our relationship was and how I was yet to comprehend it.
"There is nothing to talk about," I told her truthfully but she doesn't seem to believe it as she rolled her eyes at me.
"You have been giving me short replies to my question. I mean there sure is a lot to talk about. For a man to call up a woman and ask if she has eaten, you do realize he must care about her to ask her that? I mean Adrian Castillo isn't someone to just show concern, especially from what I have read and seen about him," Evelyn expatiates.
